What really make no sense is no female Hrothgar, they are based on Ronso that had females everywhere, seems like a cop-out.

This much I can agree with. I believe the main reason Hrothgar were gender locked was to be even with Viera. Viera needed to be gender locked for lore purposes while Hrothgar only got gender locked due to Viera being gender locked (possibly due to belief that players would riot if one new race was gender locked and the other wasn't yet they riot anyways, expecting Enix to destroy long established lore to satisfy their desires)

Stop with that... They weren't limited to one gender because of Lore reasons, but because of the workload and development cost.

Am I a Roebro or Galka fan who asked for females because of my head canon on how they would look? No, I think Roebros and galka look super lame. I also think Femroe should look like Christina Hendricks as that would be the logical appealing counterpart to the bros imo (always found it strange no one points out the sexual dimorphism in this race. They simply don't look like they fit together to me. Either make the femroe wider and curvy to go with the wide and manly bros or make the bros more narrow ... but this is beside the point)

I play Femroe cause they are tall females and I think they're pretty. If they were never added I'd play elezen or cat girl and happily play the game. When shb releases I'm jumping into the Viera/ HROTHGAR pool with both feet.

If I got into this game when roe were monogender it wouldn't have bothered me if they stayed that way. Hell, HROTHGAR males look so cool that they're gonna convert me to playing males for once. I'd def play a female HROTHGAR in a heartbeat unless they jacked up the design and ... it doesn't bother me that they aren't a thing.

It's a design decision by the devs and I respect it as I know it's a ton of strain on them to add new player models. This is their game after all and mono genders don't bother me.

Please stop implying that male Viera don't exist. They're talked about in the games they originate from along with in XIV just they're never seen by people that aren't Viera.

They originated in Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced and back there there were no male Viera, they were a race who were only ever female, similar to Gerudo and Asari. FFXII went and messed that up along with it's combat system that was all kinds of broken but that last part is an entirely different conversation. Even in FFXII, Male Viera never make any appearances, they spend their entire lives as hermits and raising male children (presumably against the children's wills)

...Man, have you read any other post, like the actual Male Viera thread? lol All the points you're saying have already been debated and debunked repeatedly. In short:

FFTA introduced the Viera, but it's a Dream Ivalice that doesn't impact on the other Ivalice canon from XII (TA2 introduced the Gria and we're supposed to pretend they've always existed, although there's the hand-wave that they may only exist in Jylland). XII handwaves it by saying they're so isolationist that they live in separate villages, and we only go into the Eruyt part of Golmore, evidenced by the Lente's Tear given to us by Jote (elder of Eruyt Village) giving us access to the Jungle... to lead us OUT of it. Just because they haven't been shown yet doesn't mean they can't be shown now, especially when Hroths are based on Ronso and those actually had both sexes visible and available, so that argument falls flat (especially since Female Viera displaced Female Hrothgar instead of Male Hroth to Male Viera).

And for your second point, the PC is always an outlier, the exception to all rules, so a playable male Viera would still be just as rare canonically as Male Keepers of the Moon, of which that are at most 3 (4?) in the whole game (as NPCs, because, again, PCs are the exception to lore. See: WHM, SCH, AST, SMN, RDM). Having playable males would do absolutely nothing for the lore of the game, there wouldn't be an influx of lore-retconning NPCs.

Did they say that in the games that they were like the Anata? Or the Galka? Because all and any information even when just looking at their tactics info say that they weren't a mono-gendered species. Also the Gerudo are more like the Hrothgar in that one gender is a rare occurence verses the one you see normally. Also the Asari meanwhile yes are a mono-gendered race, but that's due to the whatever reason an Asari baby will always be an Asari and not some hybred. Probably due to the fact it's easier to make an Alien chick pink or green instead of looking part Krogen or dear god Vorcha. So they chose hey they can have traits like that of the non Asari parent if they had one in maybe having a bad temperment or having a more masculine tpye voice route.

Talking about lore to not want to add a gender while playing a male keeper of the moon miqo'te is quite funny.

Beside, XIV isn't in the Ivalice lore. It can be changed to whatever the devs desire.

It does not matter, Tactics was still their point of origin and Tactic's lore should have been respected. There is also that Tactics took place in an alternate dimension created by (and later destroyed by) a magical Grimoire that Mewt found, not in a dream. The thing is that when returning from alternate dimensions, you'll often feel as if it was all a dream as in the case for the aforementioned FFTA, Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, the FF14-FF15 crossover (watch both sides of it), Click (thought it focuses on time travel rather than dimension travel), and many others. Such is the nature of plots involving reality warping and/or dimensional travel. In same cases you may even struggle to recall the other dimension, if you even remember it at all.

And then theres Eternal Sonata's surprise ending (turns out it wasn't a dream after all), Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time (apparently their entire existence is a mere MMO for 4th dimension kids), etc. I know there are many more examples but those are the only examples that come to mind at the moment.

And then theres The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. While the entire game takes place inside the dream of a "wind fish" deity (of course the dreams of a god is as good as an alternate reality, some even believe our reality is the dream of a god, the MMO Tera also explores this idea), the creatures of it's dreams were sentient and one of the creatures in it's dream, Marin, wished she were born as a seagull so she could travel the world. Following the game conclusion, Marin is allowed to become real as the Wind Fish gives her life in the form of a seagull.


All that said, "just a dream" is not that simple and they already broke Viera's lore once, we don't need it broken again. The ENTIRE point of RPGs is the lore, when you start messing with the lore, it becomes meaningless.

Ofc it is. Then we need male viera. FFXII didnt feature male viera because matsuno had to leave. Let's stick to the lore now and release male viera as they have already been confirmed to be as numberous as male miqote keepers. Also love ti how you NEVER mentioned the lore of the hrotgar.

Regardless, based on the nature of your post with numerous(the correct spelling) typos, only quoting a small portion of my quote, and adamantly replying "Ofc it is" to the conclusion of my post without even analyzing the rest, I'd say your post has no merrit at all.

As for the FF14 side of the FF14-FF15 crossover, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1EVcnOK6IY&t=40m15s is how it begins and 40:40 is where Noctis shows back up after the events of his quests in FF14, he was with us at least a day during the quest (as evidenced by the camping) yet back on his dimension, it was as if he was only gone for 25 seconds. What's more is when he gets back, he had no memories of Eorzea. Are you gonna say Eorzea is just a dream then? Both dimensions are equally real (In the Square Enix universe that is) and just because the transition between them feels like a dream, that does not mean that they are dreams.

My male viera thread got deleted, so I'm recycling this one.

I'd like the focus of this thread to be on support for male viera. Some people in the other thread were trolling and the topic steered into something very inappropriate. Let's leave all of that at the door this time.

I've edited my original post. You can still view the original post and that has not been changed.

....What the hell happened?? ive been gone for a few days but last I saw there wasnt any posts to delete a whole 1000 page thread over?

I'm going to take a guess that there was rampant back and forth arguing so much so that mods couldn't contain it? A thread that big getting deleted is surprising since we've been told to keep it all in 1 thread.

I've been actively watching the thread, but chose not to post much. However, I wasn't there in the moments leading up to the thread's deletion. I was watching earlier that day, so I kind of have a feeling of what the discussion degraded into. That being said, I rather not repeat anything I saw.

Let's just hope we get male viera, however the devs choose to design them.

I'm convinced the deletion of the thread means there's no way they'll add them though. They always tell us that if we want something to let them know and show support for that specific feature to be added, so deleting a thread with almost 2,000 likes (few threads get that much in this forum) is just a nail in the coffin in my opinion. It's too bad though, the missing genders would've really sold the next expansion more than they realize.

As others have pointed out, their practice at times was to clean the offending posts instead of deleting threads. This very thread had a lot of fiery exchanges, it stood around; female Viera came out. To me, all of this considered nails the coffin on male Viera (and female hrothgar). The game isn't even making the slightest attempt to promote the possbility of it like it did with Au ra and female Viera. Until I see the relic quest or msq start to bring up Viera there's really nothing to go by.

To my knowledge SE has never given a straight "no we are not adding male Viera/female Hroth" answer, and so I'd say it's still a possibility...however remote.

This has been the reaction to the controversy since day-1.
They explained several times why they did the genderlock, and that MAYBE, they may add the other Genders in the future. "We make no promises, but don't rule it out"
So until they outright say something or have anything to show for it, we are on a constant 'Will they/Won't they' We wont know until it literally happens or not.

I feel like the longer they leave it in limbo, the greater the resentment they'll have to contend with from the playerbase as a whole. If they truly don't think they can swing it they should just rip that bandaid off, and fast.

We're in luck viera was added over a year ago!
