lol pay attention to previous numbers the low number was NM's the high number was regular mobs

I pulled 2,700 on Great Buffalo once with Punishing Barbs, but alas, I think that was nerfed as I never see it go over 359 or something like that anymore.

SE has to manage somehow to get rid of the stone, but keep the trees. Simple fire will not be enough. Something far more supernatural will need to occur. I believe this is the setup for that.

Sorel, good point: I think one way to possibly change terrain and have trees grow back would be that parts of the Black Shroud are hit with big explosions during a battle with the Garlean Empire (in essence, leveling sections of the previous rocky, maze-like terrain).

Then they can have something like the Elementals healing / restoring the trees, forests, and voila: removed chunks of rock, but keeping forests. ;)

But as others have said, I don't know how much can really change without impacting the starter story (redoing it?) for Gridania.

I'm hoping for the best and some big changes. :)

I don't think anything in the Gridania starting story depends on the presence of the Black Shroud's stone maze. I believe the Gridania starter battle is mostly in a clearing. And I don't believe any of the Gridania Storyline Quests make reference to the geology of the Twelvewood. I could be mistaken, though.

Just a quickie but the Camp Bentbranch guards have new dialogue since this was posted on the lodestone, nothing special they just mention hearing rumours of 'some shady bloke' hanging round the camps and to keep your eyes open.

Not tried the other camps though yet.

This is the dialogue I mentioned earlier, Shenanigans. Looks like I was right. ^-^;

They just need to make the Black Shroud less grid like.
I understand that it's supposed to be a deep twisted forest, but the illusion is ruined by right angles every 10 feet.

My poor Gridania T_T Why do people hate it so much when i love it so much :(

PS: I've checked Limsa storyline up to about r 15 i think, Ul'dah up to 10 and for now, my most loved started story was Gridania one, the mystery, magic, jrpg final fantasy feel, I simply loved it ^^ just hope they wont change or mess it...

I believe there were some Garlean Empire fleets that were destroyed within the main story in LL already, so it seems like an invasion or whatever would occur on different fronts, not just GRIDANIA. Just my take.

I hope the Garleon Empire drops a nuke on The Black Shroud.

Pepeli: There was a strange fellow here not long ago, preaching to any who would listen. Dark words, about the coming of the seventh Umbral Era...

(Here are two things that were said from two of the, I'll assume Wood Wailers, amongst the Black Shroud so far. I"ll keep checking for more.)

I'm usually a lurker, but I feel rather excited about this turn of events and mini passive event. Anyway, I've been getting deaspected crystals while gathering, my LS has also mentioned they have gotten them in their inventory from killing mobs during a guildleve. I think this is what the leve npc's are talking about.

What zone did you get these in? Any specific grades of gathering points or monsters? I've yet to see any either but I'd love to get my hands on one.

Should be anything that has a chance as giving crystals/shards from combat and gathering, but as for what I was doing? I was fishing in cedarwoods fishing nodes to get red and blue coral.

On my search through Gridania I'm also finding these odd things along the way. There are NPCs marked on the map in a few areas that are not characters but inanimate objects.

(29, 31) It's a darkened fireplace. You can target it and it reads this "The hearth's flame has died out."
(31, 30) It's a lit stone lantern that is common in the Black Shroud. You can target it and it reads this: "The Watcher carries out its silent vigil."
(34, 32) Another stone lantern that you can target and reads the same thing.


Still looking for more of these to add because I've never noticed them before.

Just wanted to say that I think the shady figure is a GM who has been visiting the camps. I arrived in Camp Horizon tonight and found a GM there preaching about the 7th era and impending dark abyss or whatnot. I had to put it into google translate though since the GM was talking in japanese and I am not sure of the accuracy of the translation (since it was very disjointed.) I copied, pasted and saved the chat log though, and will make sure to post here what he said if anyone would like to translate it properly (and if I have not been beaten to it!). I would do it now but I have just shut down my computer ^^; Sorry!

But yes the GM appeared and spoke to everyone, did a few crazy abilities and buffed everyone with a 15 minute quickness and vanished! It was all very mysterious.

Good luck to everyone else trying to figure out these ominous happenings!
And apologies in advance if this post appears a bit whacked, I'm typing this from my phone. :)

I really doubt what you're talking about is part of the event. Probably just some random GM popped up and you got lucky enough to be there at that moment.

I don't know which of those statements seem more unlikely lol

Well, if he talked about the umbral era and dark abyss I doubt he was there randomly.

Can't remember where they are gotten in gridania, I think one was in the conjurers guild, basically the missions just had you click at the points, relighting the hearths or adding fuel to the lanterns to keep people safe at night, that sorta stuff. it was interesting to learn a little about em, but aside from that, unless you are interested in tibits of lore like me, not too interesting.

Maybe not, I guess I was wrong about this. someone just popped up on my server in Ul'Dah. If it's going by 6th sun, meaning the 6th sun of the week (assuming the week starts on Sunday), I'm guessing something will happen around 12 am Friday night, going into Saturday at the end of next week. That would be the 6th/7th of May..

Hello Benji, looks like we were both in Uldah when the NPC arrived. At the same time, near Gogorano, another NPC popped up called Alfgar, and started barking a message about bewaring a false prophet. Guess they're on opposite sides of the fence on this one.

someone heard a GM saying weird stuff in japanese , benji and almamalma heard yoshi-p poem in french (it is yoshi-p poem in french). Something is about to happen. And I don't want to miss it!

It was french. Here is what it translated to:

"When the sixth sun will layer and that the seventh moon shines in the sky, the ocean of clouds will emit a rain of flames were blazing and the sinister shadows seedbed where the deepest part of the earth ..."

I suppose we will never know since no one does leves at camps in the Black Shroud

Hey now, the black shroud is my favorite place for mining leves, lots of silver for my goldsmithing! :P I've been in the shroud a lot this week and haven't seen anything unusual, though it looks like there are some interesting things coming. ^^

6th sun / 7th moon stuff is probably talking about the end of the 6th Astral era (the sun setting) and 7th Umbral era (moon rising) not rl dates. Can someone dig out Yoshi's poem? Pretty sure that mentioned suns and moons, and with all the focus on the Astral/Umbral eras lately in the sidequests it might make a *little* more sense now.

It is very rainy in Thanalan regions lately and the normal music is not playing for me is this related to the storm events? The music in all other areas plays fine for me. I don't remember Ul'dah areas having so much rain before, it's normally sandstorms right?

Ok I just heard that it's raining everywhere now. I also heard the weather on the ferry says rainy but it's stary in the sky. Can anyone confirm this?
