Maybe they should annouce "We're sending our team from Japan to NA/EU to replace the incompetent people we outsourced to hire into our co-location center"...
"We are currently experiencing technical difficulties wherein players are occasionally unable to log into the North American/European data center Worlds on FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn."
Sorry, but do not lie here. Is there one single person who did not have login problems? Occasianally, they even do not see how big the problem is.
Ya but just cause they post this dont mean it has not been going on for the past 6 hrs and they still wont give us more info on anything. Really a whole day gone tell me again why i paid in full for a pre-order?!?
No, I realize that. That is precisely why I'm irritated. I know SE has at least heard of queueing. That means that 1017 errors are a severe regression. That error should not even exist -- there should be no such thing as "world full, can't log in", only "world full, entering queue". They made something dramatically worse, and have offered no explanation, no rationale, not even an acknowledgement that this is a change and that it is a bad change.
Started getting this about 1-2 hours ago. Sucks. SE should just give free server transfers, so people who don't mind switching to a lower populated server can play.
My thinking is this: It's a downgrade and even hurts the service more.
I'm no networking guru or claim to know anything about the topic but if you have 10,000 people, at the same time, trying to open the same steel door, it won't work. Whereas, if you line them up, one at a time, and have them each open the door, it will allow everybody to enter.
I think the constant "pinging" of connection attempts is actually doing more harm than good, akin to DoS attacks on companies. Like I said, I'm not expert but I think that hundreds of thousands of people trying to dink and dunk their way in, is more taxing.
I love how in this early access, i've been able to play for all of maybe 4 hours straight before something happens.
I've stated this before, but this is really crap. Bought a new game just for early access to basically not have an early access with all these issues. World full constantly. Really is a slap in the face. I know there's issues with launches every time. I understand that, but this seems to not get better with all the maintenances. The instance problem is still going on. Cannot progress in main story line. Would have been better off not paying for early access as I'll be in the exact same place probably within a day of playing on launch. People paid for preorders more than not for the early access. I feel ripped off.
I swear to christ this has got to be the worst gameplay/login/access i've ever seen in my life. back to back to back maintenance shutdowns, login errors, world full errors, limitations on players online.
I'm about 2 clicks away from saying screw it, getting my money back on both my wifes and mine games and walking away.
Who the fu<k is handling the servers????? How the hell did SE not figure out with all the money they've pocketed for EA registration that they would need more servers. I know good and damn well they can afford it, get this sh1t figured out. I paid for a service, if my cable company, phone company or electric company had service this bad i'd sue them and cancel my account yesterday.
I really think legacy people, and those who pre-ordered to get "Early Access" should get something as compensation..
I mean, c'mon it worked for 1 day with LOTS of bugs.. At first there were disconnections, then came the instanced battles + dungeon finder problems, then came super long maintenances, then not being able to login at all. Is that what people paid for?
I understand that it is just the first couple of days and it is normal to have problems with MMOs at launch. But this is "Early Access" which you were supposed to get, not early disappointments.
Also, why are the NA/EU servers having such problems while JP was fine? It did happen during the phase 4 beta so it should have been fixed by now no?
One more thing.. If this happened, and worlds were always full, while only those with Early Access are on.. What would happen on launch day? :/
Was on this morning around 7AM EST for not even an hour. Got kicked, and have been stuck with the BS world full, and unable to update NA/EU crap for the rest of the time. I know problems will happen at release, but this is just terrible... The real kicker is the lack of any information. I see now one of the reasons the first version of the game failed so badly.
just got "upgraded" to 1017 error after getting 90000/10102 from teleporting from the Waking Sands to New Gridania around 4:30pm EST. i just started getting the 1017 error about 6pm EST. every few minutes i go from 1017 to "unable to retrieve NA/EU world list." the friends i was playing with went 90000 > 10102 > 3102.
So 8 hours later, well for me at least, and after " Emergency maintenance " we're still sitting here doing nothing because we can't get into the game. Great Work SE!! You really have outdone yourselves with this farce of an early access launch. A good deal of players who have paid to play this game early and would likely be the players that would stay and sub, can't actually play. Where is the communication from you telling us what is happening and why is this not fixed yet? Wasn't BETA supposed to sort this out and seriously the only people playing at the moment are people who preordered the game which means YOU KNEW HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD BE PLAYING FOR THIS PERIOD OF TIME so you should have had capacity for those numbers organised.
I cannot believe SE convinced me to PAY for being a Beta tester. I should have realized this during Beta phase 4 and avoid preordering the game. After all, it feels like I played nothing so far...
This is not an Early Access, its early disapointment.
You are true here, the current situation is even worse for the servers.
Right now i try to login for an hour (went to sleep 7 hours and just woke up), and i get the error that the world is full, no queue. If i try this about 10 times, then i get a message that the NA/EU characterlist cannot be read and have to restart the game completely.
Both problems is due to the extremely high amount of persons trying to load the character list and trying to login to the world many times.
Both problems can be instaly fixed by putting everyone in a queue instead of forcing them to load the characterlist and try to login to world.
World: Gilgamesh
Character: Braik Ravensflyte
Error: 3102
IMO, SE is just buying time until Monday arrives for NA and we all have to go to work so they can spend that downtime fixing their *&@^$*&
All the NA servers are in Montreal, Canada. I think.
It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad...on the login screen they say several worlds are experiencing login difficulties. Difficulties? How about plain old can't. And how about fixing it instead of leaving it as it is? Just not letting people log in just says you didn't fix the problem so you're trying to pretend it's not there if there are still some people who can get in. Threads aren't 100 pages anymore, so it must be better, right? I understand wanting server stability, but not even a queue for hours, just "try again later" is ridiculous.
Players will resolve the issues on their own, either by leaving and providing plenty of room on the servers or by never logging off once they log in. I'd be willing to bet that's part of the problem now. Several of the people on are afk and have been for hours. I really don't complain about these things generally, but it's gone beyond the point of reason now. This is, if nothing else, a soft launch and it's failing. Do you really think Tuesday, when the populations are even worse, people getting a go away and try again sometime later message is going to make them think SE is better this time around? this needs to be fixed and sooner rather than later. Having it be a lottery to see if we can get in is going to get old fast. It's getting there now.
cant wait to see what going to happens on the launch day.
Fix one thing, break another. Ahhhh~ the world of technology, oh how I love it!
OTL
I can't get in either for Balmung.
World: Moogle
Character Dark Maibs
Unable to get server list, 3201, 1027, and server full errors.
Sigh
By the power of greyskull!! ... lol I can't get it.. Bloody 1017 message likes to hate on me. oh joys for being off work today. When I am at work, I sure bet it will be up and running. Oh lovely.
I'd agree with you if it weren't for the fact that thus far they're obviously unable to test their solutions properly, so we find the issues. I don't at all suspect their servers will be fixed Monday at this point considering their solutions thus far haven't been solutions at all, but stopgap measures at best. It's laughable.
not been able to logon all day.... really wish we got added to a queue instead of just hoping on a login attempt
At least we could play before, even though the instances were no good. 'd prefer that over what we have now...
Here's the thing; I read somewhere that servers can only hold like 5'000 people...that means that for the WHOLE of Europe, there's only 30'000 spaces available...with reports of over 1'000'000 pre-orders, does this seem right to you?
Well you kind of nailed it right on the head. Just to note that I do have a Bachelor's in CIS with an emphasis on Networking and Network Security.
This is the exact specification of a DoS attack. Thousands of users all hitting a server simultaneously and bogging it down with more requests per second than it could handle. Typically this is an automated type of attack, otherwise known as a DDoS run with a botnet, but it has been seen that popular services can easily become overwhelmed by traffic just like this.
For those of us in the field, a term you might often hear is about a website being 'Slashdotted'. This, however, is in no way a sophisticated term and instead refers to a popular techie site known as 'Slashdot.org' which hosts a lot of stories about relevant (and sometimes irrelevant) techie news. Sometimes stories get put up on their with links to other sites and so many people go to view the linked page that the site gets overtaken by all the traffic.
This means being 'Slashdotted' is a double-edged sword. Firstly it means that the material you're presenting is hugely popular and everyone wants to see it now... a good position to be in. The other side is that you're so buried in people trying to get their hand in the door that no one can fit.
There's only two solutions to the problem.... shut down the service and try again later... or add capacity. Option B is obviously the better of the two, but remember that adding capacity for their servers means a LOT of downtime, both in physical setup and logical configuration.
Now granted, this should have been noticed and taken care of after OB, but they were struggling on other issues as well. Realistically, OB should have been much much sooner than it was, giving them time to not only test well but act on the results of that test. A good rule of thumb they should have followed... take the number of users logged in before the service started having issues... multiply that by five... plan for that.
If those errors still occurs in launch day..ARR can be considered ARDOA!!! ¬¬
I am SOOOOO fucking sick of this shit.
since it was my day off thought i'd chill an play some ff14, well in 11 hours i've only actually played for 2 hours, its just pathetic that this is the service we get for our money, an SE refused to admit the problem and actually explain to thousands of ppl who can't play how they are gonna fix it, first they made a mistake with overpopulating servers, then with not enough new servers an now they limiting our play time.
What they should do is admit there mistake, get some new servers up, an start offering free transfers, try an get rid of all the congestion, its crazy knowing they had a good idea from OB and all the pre orders what kinda numbers they should expect yet they still didn't prepare for it. This problem won't just fix without them investing in there server infrastructure which they should have done before EA an nor will limiting your player base access to the game fix the issue.
they underestimated the ammount of NA/EU people, to few servers result is what it is now
Ragnarok just let me in.
I have watched the starting movie so many times now that I don't get sad at watching Bahumat destroy everything
And they are icing the cake by not booting the idlers out. No one wants to log out now and they choose to idle instead. They need to bo booted out, if they are not playing and give the open spot to somebody else.
Yesterday I was only able to play for 3 hours. Today only 2. I've barely gotten anything done. Like someone else said; this Early Access is a Major letdown.
I have it too :( it sucks
