Nope. That farce of a rumor stated that an entire other team was disbanded and entirely moved to XIV, thing that completely contrasts with several official statements from different areas of the company.

Except, Wada and Yoshida both stated they moved resources to XIV, not disbanded the teams.
The rumor states:
Yet official word states they moved resources, not cancelled anything. So there is validity to the rumor as we had official word of this long before that rumor even popped up. The only rumor specifically regarding versus XIII was the one about it being cancelled, which they officially debunked.Quote:
FF Versus XIII is on hold and all staff have been moved to FFXIV: A Realm Reborn until it gets released.
The rumor doesn't say they moved resources. It says they moved the whole team, which not only isn't realistic, but also contrasts with official statements regarding the fact that work on Final Fantasy Versus XIII is continuing.
Sorry, but trying to twist the rumor to make it fit doesn't really work.
well i shall we until we hear dev post or some news site article/interview as cant find any links worthwhile
Official statements from a publicly traded company are legally binding.
You're saying it like a random pole on twitter holds more credibility than an official source. Which of course he doesn't.
It's utterly amusing how some people are bending over twice to make this farce of a rumor believable. Have an agenda?
So in other words..you realize you were wrong. Glad we came to an agreement. I mean, rumor or not, you have to be drowning in denial to call BS on an official SE report. Here, I'll post it again for you:
http://www.square-enix.com/eng/news/...20611_01en.pdf
So what's being twisted? Nothing but confirming:
Is true. For someone who pulled the "if you know game development" card, you sure don't seem to know what resources are.Quote:
FF Versus XIII is on hold and all staff have been moved to FFXIV: A Realm Reborn until it gets released.
Protip: Resources can mean people too.
Btw, dd you know? Akihiko Matsui worked on both FFXI and FFXIV at the same time? It's pretty shocking that there's people working on multiple projects at once...
Especially when SE releases a report stating specifically why things got affected..but eh, let's ignore the reports. "Work continues on Versus XIII"..yet they're still working on XIV as well...how did that debunk the fact they moved resources, per Square Enix's words? Something the rumor basically reflected?
That's exactly why the "cancellation" rumor even started, because of the moving of resources to XIV lol. They debunked that Vs XIII was cancelled, but they ADMITTED they did pool resources towards ARR.
So there remains validity, whether you want to admit it or not.
Elexia, I will just come to the conclusion that you can't understand what myself and some people are saying, so I will leave you to debate with other people. Good day.
Oh look, Elexia's so desperate that now he's resorting to put words in people's mouth. Amusing.
Sorry, but English is English.
There's a LARGE difference betweeen "moving all staff" and "moving resources", and a statement that says that work on a game is continuing completely contrasts with a rumor that says that work is "on hold" because all staff has been "moved" (not working on both projects at the same time, "moving" implies transitioning from a place to another, there's no sharing involved in the word).
What's this noise? must be Elexia's card castle collapsing.
He's just in denial, with an obvious agenda to push people to believe a ludicrous rumor, What can you do.
No, that is how you're taking it.
I don't give a damn about trying to make a rumor credible or not, but you and others need to realize that the possibility that this game will have a summer release is higher than you want. There have been delays and no dates given for anything, fact.
You are trying to disprove whats being said here with hope.
If hope contributed to ARR's release, we'd have it when it was announced.
As a matter of fact, I can't care the less about the release date. My pile of games to play is enormous, and it only grows with games I have to play for work.
What is ludicrous is the rest of the rumor, and when a rumor includes a ludicrous part, the whole source is deprieved of any credibility.
ARR will be released when it'll be released, but it's obvious that the author of this "rumor" knows no more about it than anyone of us.
Nope, my dear twister. I'm calling BS on you and your "source", since you're saying something entirely different than what SE is saying. We're all English speakers here, even if some are obviously less proficient. You may want to stop trying to climb mirrors.
To be fair, this is the Alpha testing phase. Anyone expecting a release by the end of the year has no appreciation for development life cycles.
Keep in mind, whatever date that is to be set down cannot be moved without making headlines, saddening customers, causing Van Darnus clones, and the lot. There's lead time for the company to deal with whatever potential problems and feedback may be encountered during testing. better to get it right now than after launch.
Worst move SE could do....
FFXIIIVS>FFXIV any day of the week, SE get your bearings straight, FFXIV 2.0 won't be that amazing, it might be good, but really? This has priority over FFXIII?
It would help, Elexia, to provide more context to those links instead of throwing them out there and say "look right there".
The fiscal report for 2012 was on May 12th I think it said, so you can assume the 2011 one was also around that time. So that covered everything from May12th for one year.
When Wada mentions resources from HD Games (PS3/Xbox/Wii w/DLC) are moving to FFXIV he probably means when they originally decided to make ARR in June 2011; as thats the date they would have had to start to get a start on the client for the announcement. This means SE's HD Games are going to suffer until June 2013-2014 when they reallocate the resources back to other projects. Going by this its entirely feasible FFvsXIII's team has been working on ARR since June of 2011, not just thrown on board like some people are assuming. It also would fit into the rumor a few months ago of Vs was no longer being developed.
Wada also mentions ARR will be released in this (2012) fiscal year, or by March 31st 2013. However, I do recall reading somewhere that ARR will be released in Q1 of fiscal year 2013 (April 1st -> June 30th) but that may be my memory remembering something incorrectly.
So the point of my post is, yes I can believe Vs team is (and has been for a while) working on ARR.
What I will not believe is the estimated release dates from this "source" until I see concrete dates posted by the company as with everything, dates for release can change for a multitude of reasons.
When do you think 2.0 will start?
I am thinking Nov 12th. The reason I say that is look at the roadmap - http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/dow...Roadmap_EN.pdf
And before I get flamed for my statement, and for those who think am crazy, I have one question.
Can we agree that up until this point the roadmap has been followed to the letter? If you say yes, look at the mark when 2.0 free version will is scheduled to start. It is the beginning of Nov and no I am not talking Alpha.
They have been working on 2.0 all year and we are now currently "Stress testing the servers."
Early Christmas anyone? :)
A boy can dream cant he. . . .
My personal prediction is between February and April. That's when Square Enix loves to release numbered chapters of the series in the west, and it makes sense with the current beta schedule. It could be SLIGHTLY earlier if SE wants to rush out (but not by much, I don't think it's realistic to predict a release anywhere before the end of january). or later if they want to take their time, but that window is the one that makes the most sense in the current conditions.
You guys need to start believing this information. If you look at all of the things the need to implement and test, do you really think its going to be a hop, skip, and a jump?
Use your heads.
This. What makes you think it will be re-released anytime soon? They are still developing stuff as we speak. We haven't seen or heard details on major systems..because they are still making them! If it re-released in the summer that would still be pretty miraculous and probably not include much new content.
It's irrelevant. All of it is.
The game will get done when it is done. My point is that the jaded cynicism of this forum needs to be gutted; literally and violently.
So far the moral implications are really looking to be trivial compared to the sheer vicarious delight it would give me to hear one story of some internet hater impaled on a pike, Vlad style.
This isn't about the game or your concern for its quality. It's not about having so called 'standards' that disappear when it actually comes time to act on them. This isn't about what's even right or wrong. This is about purposefulness being contrary and jaded in a vain attempt to elevate one's self above others, be it fans, critics, developers or corporate office.
And it is revolting, plain and simple. Discussions like these are the primary reason why I never hold internet communities with any real respect.
Until official word on a delay of intended release is given, it is pointless to try to imply it, as you're just being accusatory at that point.
As far as a matter of personnel shift from one project to another - that is blatant and vindictive flamebait. What a corporation does with their manpower is their business, and being hung up on Verses XIII is just sad at this point. People should move on with their lives and quite trying to micromanage others'.
Now excuse me while I go murder a few thousand more burbles.
I was reading through the new Letter from the Producer LIVE Q&A post and headed over here and saw this really off-the-wall rumor being discussed in a thread that is sadly coupled with a lot of personal insults between a few users. I'm going to close this and ask users refrain from attacking each other and instead focus on fighting for and protecting Ul'dah from monsters. (It needs it… in case you haven't noticed.)
