Wii-U O.o? There is such a thing to finish the giant nintendo? while not so giant anymore better jump ship before it sinks...http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LMUczGakAU...ip_cartoon.jpg
If ported well and early, there could be profit in going for a WiiU version. Provided Nintendo don't screw things up like they did on the Gamecube, the WiiU will probably have about a 4-5 year life cycle, which at this point in time has value. This is also provided that Nintendo's online play policy doesn't present the brick wall Microsoft presented them with.
If these issues can be resolved, there is certainly more benefit than in going for the PS3, which is about to be eclipsed by a new Sony console within the next year or two. So if they can still justify the PS3, then they can justify the WiiU.
Aye, latest and greatest doesn't always work in their favor. I think we all remember the ridiculous "price" we paid when the PS3 came out with the latest and greatest Blu-Ray technology, and because of that Sony lost tons of money, revised the system at least half a dozen times in it's lifespan, and really the hardware of the latest model now is like a shadow to the original model. I also remember the developers complaining about the costs of Blu-Rays costing about 25-30 bucks apiece, and their worries about using a un-established format during the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray wars, which if Blu-Ray lost would have probably made the development costs soar higher. This isn't discounting the fact it took them years to fully utilize the hardware to make the pricetag more worthwhile.
Nintendo seems to be going with the route of 'Ok, this technology is established and affordable now, lets make sure we don't have the same problems our competitors have and rectify some of the problems with the Wii. Now we can keep development costs down, keep prices down, still produce graphically top-teir games (for a few years at least) and help keep everyone happy.'
In terms of business Nintendo seems to be making the smarter decision, especially when you consider everything going on in the gaming industry.
Yeah I'm not gonna hold my breath, I remember the last time this happened where they released the specs, rounded up the hype, and just how much of a disappointment it was when performance was lackluster and the price is ridiculous (or in MS case non-functioning).
They always release a new version of their iPhone, iPad, iPod, iWhatever every 5-6 months, usually with slight upgrades and a overbearing pricetag that's the same as the older model or higher, but for some unfathomable reason people just gotta have the latest and greatest even if they can't afford to pay their rent/mortgage (and yes I've seen people do this).
Considering it is looking only slightly stronger than current gen systems, I'm not sure... Reports confirmed that it has an absolutely pathetic CPU [3 Wii processors attached together, essentially] the stronger GPU is being bottlenecked, so it isn't going to be moving much in terms of horsepower...
Also, I'm not convinced, knowing that it isn't very strong now, that people are going to be swamping it like they did the Wii, especially since in retrospect, a lot of people bought the Wii, solely for the craze, used it for 2 months and never switched the thing on again.
I liked the Wii, and felt it had some promising little games, but, it was essentially "Nintendo Only" for games that sold, and now the fact it won't be keeping up with Next Gen, I don't see strong 3rd party after this first year or so... Maybe I'm wrong, but, that's my guess.
Personally, I don't like the Wii or Wii U and will never purchase one. I don't like the controllers, the games I would like are out on systems I already own, and I really don't need to own another system.
That being said, I'm all for them making this game on the Wii U as long as the over all game isn't compromised so it will run on it, and I don't think they will do that.
Why? Simple. Just because I don't/won't play it on that system doesn't mean someone else wont. Whatever brings more players to the game (the whole meaning of MMO) is a good thing. In the end though it is up to the development team to decide if they want to create a port for it or not. Please don't delay ARR just to do this though. I don't see the market for this game being huge but the desire is there apparently.
You seem painfully unaware of the fact that Nintendo sold Twice as many Consoles in the last generation all of which sold for a Profit, while Xbox and PS3 sold Half as many Console nearly All of Which were sold at a loss..
The only people who lost money on the Wii were the Third Party Devs to stubborn to support it. Why do you think Wii U has such strong Dev support?
Twice as many? Actually, it sold 97 Million odd, compared to 70 Million for the other two consoles. The fact it has pretty much stopped selling now, and will cease to sell anymore now the Wii U is out, begs to question if it'll even maintain that lead once the gen is actually over.
More likely, that'll all even out by the time the other competitors release their next system.
I'm afraid this has been more or less debunked. All signs point to the Wii U having some fairly serious power coming out of it's CPU. Unfortunately, hacks who only like to pretend they know anything about Electronics think Clock Speed = Processing power. Fortunately for Nintendo, this is simply untrue. Yes, the Wii U has a lower Clock Speed than Current Gen Consoles, but calling the processor weak is like saying Intel's Core i3 is better than their i7 because it has a High Clock Speed.
Once Dev's stop trying to program for an Over-clocked console that burns itself out in a months, they will easily be able to surpass the Current Gen with the Wii U's smarter more efficient processor.
Sure they were sold, but how much were they used?
Yes, that is why respected Devs are referring to its CPU as "Horrible, Slow"
Simply put, it is going to be a bottlenecked system, that will be slightly more powerful than the current systems. That, to me, isn't worth an investment that will be outdone, probably under supported, within a year or so.

Oh dear, you really aren't worth arguing with. It is clear you're at Nintendos beck and call it seems. My launch PS3 is still going quite strong, after being used very frequently, while my Wii sits patiently, only being used for the occasional bout of Xenoblade. Sorry, but you're spouting trash and you're a waste of time to talk to. Good day.
I guess that's the way the companies think eh? Don't care if they get used, just as long as people buy them. Personally I would think that is Nintendos problem, if they cant get developers making games then whats the draw to buy? Don't get me wrong, if you like Wii and Wii U, awesome, I just think it is a waste myself. Hence my support of them making ARR for Wii U. The more the merrier right? As far as specs go, it is a new system created after the PS3 and XBOX came out so its not surprising that it would/could have better hardware. Its kind of expected isn't it?
You do realize that they are one of 30+ Devs who have comment on the systems power and a significant Majority have stated that it was significantly more powerful than current gen, right?
I mean, At least I've used an Xbox and know it sucks.
Playstation can't seem to figure out how to price things or support their peripherals.
Your bashing a Console that you've never picked up.
The reason that the CPU is "slow" is because the console has to produce graphics for both your television and the controller at the same time. It isn't limited, but it has to distribute the processing power between two sources. I figured that out on my own and I would have assumed other people would have thought of that as well, but I guess not.
Plus people are forgetting that these games out now are launch games for the Wii U. A lot of them are ports or multiplatform games. The games are not optimized to the fullest for the hardware as the developers are still trying to figure out ways to harness the console's power. Raising a flag like this saying the system is incapable of great graphics is complete hogwash. The system has only been out for 3 days. Give it time. The graphics right now are akin to what we "currently" have on the X360 and PS3. Wait further down the line with the Wii U's lifespan. I will guarantee you that things will look a lot better.
Btw, I had my first game freeze on me while on the Wii U an hour ago. I was playing the Sonic racing game and while I was driving on the one track, I made a turn and both screens froze but kept playing music and sound effects lol I started to laugh at that. Hopefully the next update for the console will fix things.
a man can dream ; ;

That's the first thing I did too Neo xD. Though, I used the in browser youtube. That youtube app is sorta... terrible.
Jeez, it's like invasion of the Sony fanboys in here. I think that the port could definitely work and would be neat. The gamepad could serve a variety of functions (minimap, in game keyboard, touch screen hotkeys). Also, the online infrastructure is much better this time and it generally is up to the developer to use it however they want. Please don't speak if you're ignorant to the features of the system and blinded by fanboyism.
I think it'd be great to have this game on as many systems as possible. More platforms = more potential users = a more active game.
Edit: Also, if you want to talk about a sinking ship, why have people mentioned wanting this game on the Vita in the past? Talk about a day 1 purchase I regret.
I'm just too old I guess. I remember making fun of my parents trying to play a game and waving the controller around like an idiot. Now, its required? lol
All power to SE if they want to put the effort in to working in all the features of the Wii U, more players is always good. Although I don't know how many people it will realistically draw in considering Nintendo's target audience. Just dont expect it an time soon.
Personally I think they have better things to concentrate on right now than this. Get a solid game with an interested public, then go for the gimmicky system port.
The Wii U isn't going anywhere. They already have an MMO for Wii U though and they may feel it better to keep them on separate platforms. There are many who would rather play Dragon Quest over FF, especially in Japan.
You do know the PS3 actually has a 3.2 GHz 6 core cpu (Well 6 SPEs) and a dedicated graphics card, but on;y 250MB of RAM (which is why SE had memory issues porting FFXIV) however high RAM is only needed for multitasking, a games console does not need high RAM (2-3GB maximum) how many programs do you use at one time that use more than 2-3GB of RAM? I know I do an that is virtual machines (why I have 8GB in my laptop) but that is very RAM heavy software.
Even PC games don't need more than that. So yeah in the modern day a quad core, with dedicated graphics and 8GB of RAM (which would be useless in a console) would not cost that much, it would overall still be weaker than the PS3.
I don't even think one core of the PS3 is used in most games because it's just not needed.
I label someone as a fanboy when they make stupid blanket statements about a system based on the shortcomings of the previous system. "Wii U sucks it has no online its gfx sux derherher gimme PS3" I personally own all three systems and enjoy them all. I don't like fanboys from any side of the spectrum, although it really generally seems like Sony fanboys are the worst of them all.
Fanboy or not, specs or not, they had already planned a PS3 release so it was in the works. That is their second chance. They need a successful game before they can think of starting to port this over to the Wii U. If this game can have a successful first year of the relaunch then we can have this discussion again, until then is merely wishful thinking.Quote:

Not trying to be a stick in the mud but crying from either side is kind of irrelevant. i seriously doubt the company would allow a third chance to "relaunch" the game so only a successful game will be ported to any system beyond the PC and PS3. if there is a flaw in my thinking, please let me know.
PS: I'm not at all interested in owning a Wii U. BUT i have bought new systems solely for SE games before (SNES, Playstation, PS2) and if the gimmicks look worth it, i would buy a Wii U.
Probably best to see if it works on the PS3 before thinking of bringing it over to the 360/Wii U.
I'm not saying there is any problem with them getting the PS3 version out first. I agree they made the promise and they need to fulfill it. I'm not saying a Wii U/360 version needs to happen at the same time. My problem only really lies with the people who are making ignorant statements about the system that they obviously haven't spent any time with. For people to completely write off them releasing the game on Wii U for reasons that really don't apply is stupid.
I see, its just people looking for an excuse to argue. Sorry for getting in the way.
Carry on!
Can I just ask, why is this thread still going when Yoshida said he wanted to fulfill the promise of a ps3 version, THEN he would look at other consoles? He wants to get the game to as many people as possible.
