You could take literally any slice of the games population and say the same exact thing.
"Oh, so we're just going to pretend a portion of the island sanctuary community didn't very vocally deride relic grinds. humph!"
Stop trying to speak for a group of people you probably don't even interact with.
People should stop blaming each-other, and blame the company that is actually responsible for how cringe the relic content is.
Hey, I'm not the one telling people they said things that they didn't.
Keep on fighting the good fight against that hallucinated version of me that has that one opinion you disagree with.
Weak update, all this time to log in and ...hand over tomestones. I had higher expectations tbh. My bad.
I am really disappointed, was hoping for something to do other than dailies. EW is continuing to let me down I guess.
Then idk, just play the game. What’s so hard about that? You want to grind tokens, then imagine them. You want to farm fates, get your colourful gems. Tomes for relics literally isn’t stopping you from doing anything else. I’m sure there’s in game achievements you can chase if you need more carrots to chase.
Or just complain more
Don't bother with that one. It shows up periodically to vent its insecurities on the forums.
Hm, that's funny. I didn't realize something that can be verified through a quick search and specifically used the phrase "a portion of" required "speaking for" anyone. :) Nice try, though. And extra points for calling my raid experience into question in some vague, ill-fated attempt to devalue something you felt personally attacked by.
Agreed. It's either "here, grind this old content that isn't fun to get enough drops" or "hey, do whatever content you would like to get enough tomes".
Does them repeating the same set twice in a row seem a bit uncreative? Sure. But I'd much rather be able to choose what content I do for my tomes than be stuck running X old content hundreds of times.
'Cause let's be real, if anyone says they found farming 1020 fates just to upgrade all their base relics to the first upgrade fun, they're lying.
I'd much rather be able to choose what I farm. And if that makes me a "filthy casual", then obviously people have a skewed definition of the term.
28500 for all of one stage.., about 57000 if from stage one for all
While I agree it wouldn't be fun, it would give more people an incentive to complete the shared FATE stuff...if they used ShB/EW zones.
Which, if you don't really have anything else to spend the tomestones on, isn't really that bad. Since you can get them rather quickly just doing dailies. Looking at just 730 from the roulette bonuses a day. So 2 days per relic, at 19 relics, you're looking at anywhere from 30-40 days depending on time allotted to playing a day....and if you just do the dailies.
Would still prefer something different than just a tomestone grind, but they tried that type of stuff and got mostly negative reviews from the forums, and that's likely why we ended up with what we now have.
The older relics felt like an accomplishment when completed. These current ones lack that luster like 1st grade participation reward thats the the same reward as 1st place cause "Everyones a Winner!"...
The incredibly strong, indisputable position of 'It's true because I say it's true'.
I called your raid experience into question because anyone who has spent any amount of time in the raiding community would know precisely how stupid it is to try to treat it like some kind of monolith with anything approaching a unified opinion on anything.
Keep grinding that axe.
I too love irony.
After thinking about it for a minute longer, why didn't SE use this as an opportunity to make the variant/criterion dungeons worth doing? Make us have to run their "new" content and show us there is a reason to do it instead of abandoning it.
Anyone know if the Japanese are loving this new way of doing things? I feel their opinion matters more than us. I don't know what their forums look like right now.
If by "raiding community" you mean PF, you'd be correct in that assertion. I do not associate with that particular part of the community outside of very specific circumstances. At any rate, you're upset over nothing. Me saying a portion of the raiding community had a problem with relics, which they factually did, does not change the fact that other portions of it didn't. I'm not accusing you or anyone else of anything, dude. I am observing that, at one point in time, there truly was a very vocal lot from that part of the game complaining up a storm about relic weapons, the grinds, etc. That doesn't mean opinions haven't changed over the years. One does not need to go ask every single person in a community what they think when they can read various media to read for themselves what is being said. These things seldom reflect the majority, but they do none the less make it into the public eye. That's just sorta how social media works. You have your vocal portion of the community, then your silent portion. Referencing one opinion does not invalidate the other.
I think most of us would honestly prefer relics stop sucking and require more than doing like three quests and handing in some tomestones. Making them suck does nobody any good. It makes it harder for less advanced statics (and most PF groups) to progress, and it removes an extra avenue of advancement for players that do already have their gear sets completed. Secondaries matter, after all, and the old relics often had better secondaries than their raid counterparts (once equal in item level, of course).
Came to make a thread on this, gladdened to see there already is one. This is ridiculous. Like, sure you can make the argument easy steps for glowy weapons is nice, but right now I'm just glaring at Island Sanctuary--and I'm someone who LIKES it, in a vacuum.
But content died for this. No Eureka, no Bozja, no new open world at all, and we waited another 2+ months for a real relic step that'd provide some content for...this? For nothing?
Even without Island Sanctuary they could have done SOMETHING else, but...man. Real open world content died for this. For some reason.
Im not gonna go as far as to say that casuals are gonna kill endgame but id be lying if i said i wasnt worried atm. This wasnt a good look for the future of things especially if the general population is ok with this mess. Also, when did relics become so watered down?? I remember when they were touted as the best most unique and treasured items in the game. How did we get here?
I mean I get why people would dislike a boring, long grind. But at the same time its basically not-content without something like Eureka. Its a shame we couldn't get another piece of content like that alongside deep dungeon, seeing as they managed it in Stormblood.
Hot take but I actually prefer this method. Eureka and Bozja took you out of the rest of the game. Granted the ShB relics let you do other stuff besides Bozja, it was still highly specific and included things like deep dungeon with no other non Bozja alternative. No shame to the people who like exploratory zones but this is a welcome change in my opinion. I much prefer the game not care what I do to get the currency then demand I spend several hours doing a lot of something I hate.
$15 a month for another tome dump? No thanks, I'll go back to Genshin Impact where I can do the same thing for free.
It's also possible that the devs considered the entirety of Hildibrand to be part of the grind. I know a few of my friends certainly do.
I'm more mad about the relic designs themselves than it being tomes. The NIN and MNK weapons did a 180 on tone and now don't fit in my glams at all. I liked it better in ShB when the first glow step didn't compromise the base weapon.
EW is undoubtably having a content problem, although I think it is a little silly that people are already declaring it a dead patch when they haven't tried Eureka Orthos. It seems to have some new mechanics so at least try that first before saying there's a content drought.
"But I already know that I don't like deep dungeons" You do realize other people would have said the same things about Bozja/Eureka style content?
I do agree that Island sanctuary ultimately being a "copy the workshop schedule from discord" simulator sucks, although I do not think the content was a complete waste since getting my island fully developed was a relaxing little grind and the rewards have been good overall.
The combination of FFXVI development and the 7.0 graphical update is definitely hurting Endwalker's patch cycle even if they may deny it. The march towards launch is typically one of the most work intensive times for game development. Since EW is light on the content it would be cool if maybe we could get some netcode/code improvements in 7.0 too while we're at it but that might be a lot to ask
