I'd love it if...

... repair vendors had a button to repair everything in one go.
... the materia melder would remember my selection from last time and show equipped from the start.
... if right-clicking the map window would jump to a higher level map so I'd never have to use the drop down menus in that window ever again.
... tab targeting for keyboard and mouse was reworked to function like it does in any other MMO (I hear it's great for controller, why not just copy that code?).
... swapping gearsets would give more detailed information when refusing to swap because of space limitations so I don't have to look through everything every time.
... all headgear was updated to work for Hrothgar and Viera.

started an eu alt for a buddy and came up with more qol
- if you have a character at the current end of X.0 expansion, new characters should just have flying off the bat to speed things up.
- Lv30 class book on the shop. You could start a new character with a job stone and not have to bother with all the "kill 5 ladybugs" early game drudgery.
- Add Tetra to white mage at lv40/45. Every other job has some kinda ogcd at this point except white mage, not having to cast nothing but Cure 2 would be an immense boon.
- Bump up ishgard jobs to lv40 having to lv 20 levels when all future expansions only need 10 to get to current content is so stupid. Put all the 30/35/40 job quests together or something but needing to spam lv roulette over and over is just awful.

I've said before I'd love it if they made the off-hand slot something you can glamour, even on jobs with no off-hand item. Especially since for many weapons, the off-hand slot is apparently already used under the hood anyway; RDM focus, BRD quiver, and so on.

For RDM, obviously, the off-hand would let you glamour the focus separately from the blade, if you wanted to override it with something.

For BRD, the quiver.

For MCH, you could have an "Emperor's New Aetherpack" that hid the lunchbox as well as other, slightly-less-obtrusive versions of the lunchbox.

For AST, maybe the off-hand slot could replace the cards. Want to use Triple Triad cards? Pick up a set for MGP, slot that glamour. Then you could have cards that were on fire, cards that were glimmering squares of starlight, whatever.

Things like that.

(But yeah, failing that... give an option to hide the dang lunchbox.)

Honestly, even without an oGCD, I would be happy if they simply swapped where you get Cure III (which is only really useful in certain raid situations, though is admittedly sometimes very useful indeed there) and Afflatus Solace. Because WHM is literally the only healer lacking their core class mechanic at level 50.

So if you do alliance roulette and get the Crystal Tower as a healer? AST has cards, SCH has their fairy, SGE has Addersgall... but WHM is lily-less until level 52.

Put the lilies at level 40, and give Cure III at level 52. Simple, easy, huge improvement. Done.

My biggest QoL improvement I'd like to see is the glamour system. One of the few things I admittedly preferred about WoW was that as soon as you bound a gear item to your character, it became available for glamour automatically. It was very convenient for giving you an easily-available array of options.

That would require an entire re-work of the system, though, so putting that aside, there's two things I'd ask for:

1.) Continue expanding the size of the glamour dresser.
2.) Add that little check mark that now shows up on minions, mounts, and orchestrion rolls you already have to also include gear items that you already have in your dresser. Every time I hit max on my dresser and clean it up, I find some gear items I've managed to put in there multiple times. (Or, failing that, at least a notice when you go to put an item in the dresser that it's already there.)

Progressive inventory space increase every expansion. At least 50 new slots added to compensate for all the new items and materials we'll end up collecting and cholesterol clogging our inventory bags.

Blu Mage needs some serious re-tinkering if they're going to go the Tank/Healer/DPS route

First and Foremost: Abilities need to cost zero mana. No other caster has abilities cost mana and BLU shouldn't either. It's the main reasons they have MP issues.

Second, Tank stance needs some major improvements:
Lower the cast time on spells if not make them instant. Tanks need to be able to use their CD's instantly and shouldn't be casting them.
Chelodian Gate needs to be a Shield and not a stationary channel.
Mighty Guard needs a HP boost with it. Devour isn't enough. BLUs can barely survive tank busters due to their lack of HP and shouldn't be cheesing them with Diamondback.

Finally: Healer stance needs to remove the CD on Angel Whisper. The fact this is a thing is pretty ridiculous. A healer without a spammable rez. . .


Outside of that:

Triple Triad Cards need to be made available from EX Trial tokens. They're rarer than mounts with no pity system in place for them.

Change Aetherial Manipulation to just cycle through the three roles, rather than having to find someone else to copy. It's a minor annoyance, but it's still an annoyance.

I agree with all of this regarding BLU. Tankbusters were designed for the mitigators being instant and ogcd... How it is now, it only makes BLU tanking quite cumbersome and unattractive for people, and a burden on healers.

But then - it was something I've always suggested - but it seems that the community here enjoys this "handicap" as a Blue Mage skill ceiling, which means that you have to rigorously know the fight's timeline to be able to proper react to it with the tankbusters. I'm fine with high skill ceilings but I personally think in that specific case, mitigators are the base of a tank's job and their proper usage shouldn't be as taxing.

Remove Glamour Dresser and just replace with a glamour log so you don't need to hoard all your items.

Option to combine aoe combos on one button. Dungeons are the worst type of combat content in the game that we are still forced to do to complete the story and some jobs have 3 to 4 buttons wasted on aoe combos. Time to go.

Show buff / debuff timers on player list. Why it is not there already I don't know.

Extremely minor, but I like how all of the Shadowbringers zones are under the same menu on the teleport screen. When I think of where I want to go, I'm thinking of the expansion the area is from, not what continent it's closest to. Half of Endwalker zones being "Other" just makes me want to take all of them and put them under their own Endwalker icon.

If not that just place 3 NPC dummies that can be manipulated next to the BLU NPC. Tank Dummy / Healer Dummy / Damage Dummy.

Problem easily solved. You know where a tank is at all times.

All this is what makes BLU special. It's supposed to be challenging. It's not everyone's cup of tea.

MP management is a big part of that challenge, as is having limited access to rez. If you have to spam rez, you may as well reset because you're not going to do enough DPS to skip phases and finish the fight.

BLU tanking is definitely a labor of love. You end up being very stationary. It takes a solid player to really play that properly. There's so much anticipation involved. A poorly timed DB can have you taking full damage or standing in the wrong spot. The last update to BLU was actually the best, properly tuning all the roles.

Its not gonna happen with how the game is designed, but I would like a more expansive (but appropriately limited) CC

As nice as that would be -- believe me, I'd like it too -- I suspect the reason they can't is that we don't inherently have "this is the gear I am wearing for a job" data; we have gearsets, yes, but you can have no gearset for a job and just equip the weapon and job stone (and I know people who do this!) and then put on whatever gear you have. You can also have more than one gearset for a job; I have a Bozja healer gearset (to put on my gear with Bozjan bonus stats) and a Eureka RDM gearset (to put on Eureka-bonus gear), in addition to my normal gearsets.

What it would need to do is store your equipped gear at the moment you queued in (instead of just "job, at this level, with this ilevel"), and forcibly equip that gear when pulling you into the instance.

The two problems with this are how you handle things if someone has gotten better gear in the meantime and gotten rid of the old gear... and the fact that while a gearset doesn't take up a lot of memory, it does take up a non-zero amount. And this game seems have enough issues with hitting computing resource caps that I fear what would happen if the roulette system needed to take up, like, 4x more active memory than it currently does, just in order to store everyone's gearset data at the moment they queued in.

The alternative I see would be that it would just do the "equip recommended gear" for a given job to calculate your ilevel, and then when you queued in it would do the 'equip recommended gear' again.

This would have the benefit that gear-cheesing roulettes would no longer be a thing -- you can't switch down to a low ilevel to ensure you get Crystal Tower without stuffing all your level 90 Asphodelos stuff into a retainer or something! -- but it would also really mess with low-level roulettes; in the Realm Reborn level range, frequently it will (incorrectly) recommend equipping higher-level DPS gear onto a tank and so on, because of how things in the ARR level range are set up to be equipped just by "Disciple of War" or "Disciple of Magic" as opposed to Fending/Maiming/Striking/Aiming/Scouting/Casting/Healing.

But yeah, I agree; the implementation issues I see in it notwithstanding, if there was a good way to make it work it would be really nice. Especially for anyone queuing as one job and then heading out to, say, farm FATEs on another...

Infinite glamour dresser space and infinite glamour plate slots.
Secondary triple triad card acquisition methods, and/or a complete removal of card drops from trials, raids and dungeons.
Rework the party finder so that it's not impossible to get parties for certain content and make the game FAR LESS reliant on statics.
A pass on savage raiding so that it doesn't require a static or waiting two whole expansions to be able to do it in party finder.
Make itinerant moogle permanent and shuffle his inventory every two weeks.
Remove the duty finder penalty completely or increase the timer to 60 seconds.
Make it possible to server transfer WITHOUT losing my house and/or apt.
Make FCs joinable across the DC.
Failing the above, remove submersible missions and items only buyable buy with FC currency and make an alternate method for their acquisition.
GIVE MY GC SQUADRON SOMETHING TO DO! Seriously, they're bored.
Failing that, allow GC squad members to be selectable in solo duties.
Let my GC Squad have real jobs and not just base classes.
Allow fishing expeditions and Open TT tournaments happen hourly rather than every two hours, if not more often.
Allow me to put a glamour dresser in my private estate.
Remove the "basket" stage from The Slice is Right.
Prevent players I've blacklisted from being matched with me in PvP.
Allow "fixtures" (floors/walls/central lights) to be stored in a house storage.
Increase Outdoor Furniture allotment by 50%.
Increase retainer storage by 33% or more.

Seamless DoH / DoL. Be able to go into a craft menu and craft the item, having it auto-magically change you into the required job and then change you back into the job you were. Similarly be your DoW / DoM in nature, find and see a node and be able to just gather from it without any sort of awkward pause. This might even include the option to ignore gear switching, such that it is pure butter transition (hyper smooth, just whip out a pickaxe or your crafting tool). You can still turn into that job at will and wander around as that job if you want.

Smart auto-translate / text in as many places as possible. Like map names translated if interacted with open that place on the map. All recipes in quest text can be selected to open to that recipe.

I've seen a lot of big asks that are not so much QoL, so just thought to add onto that wagon-

I'd really love to see an improvement to movement in this game. At the suggestion of a fellow here in the forums I tried GW2 some more, and there are a lot of things I love about FFXIV but the movement feels so much better over there that it makes me feel like goofy ice skating on my mount here. The jumping where you can move in the air, that's fine.. I'm okay with FFXIV having it more locked. But like the mount movement is chef kiss good and I feel that it would make the world a lot more fun to explore if we had improvements akin to that.

Let me sit on ledges and whatever else I wanna sit on without a certain portion of the community crying about it.

5) new harder mode for alliance raids (where you have single 24 party)

I really like these ideas! Genuinely curious though...for item 5, what changes do you think they could implement in 24 party vs. the 3x 8 that we have now that would shake things up? I always appreciate the ideas people come up with.

I thought 24 would be more handy than 3x8 mainly because of two things:
- tanks could shirk each other, making aggro management a bit easier
- healers' area heals could heal everyone instead of just their 8 party

And then there's also buffs(like Bard's buffs or DNC dance partner) could be managed across all 24.
But they'd have to come up with some good workaround for the LB, since there would be just one. So, maybe there would be LB lvl4 introduced, or maybe we could have tripple lvl3 LBs to use. Just tossing out ideas :)

i'd prolly go back to fem au'ra if i could put the greatsword on my shoulder or use a drg idle pose that wasn't stupid ("imo" qualifier before someone tries to fistfight me over this).

Oh, and another thing comes to my mind. I think, if it was to be 24, it would make sense for them to shuffle up a bit the party requirements. Maybe something like:
- minimum of 2 tanks
- minimum of 4 healers
- the rest filled up by damage
- minimum of 16 total players in the party to be able to enter raid

I'm sure someone could plan this out better, but party make up for this particular activity would have to be a bit different, yeah.

I gave it some thought; but a notepad would be cool for in game.

I know /e will allow you to type in say chat and no one can see it but the player themselves; but the chat log will poof if too much text is shown or if the player is logged out. It would be nice to have a saved notepad for very minor reminders. (Not to write novels or anything like that. More like a check list) I know players on PC can easily just use an actual notepad; but it might be nice for those console players. I have a friend who jots notes down on paper all the time for the game because shes on PS5.

I know "Timers" on the game kind of give you a to-do list, along with the challenge log; but honestly I don't think every player is going to go out of their way to fulfill every single thing listed on there every week. The notepad would just help with focusing on those few things that the players are interested in. It also could not just be dailies as well; but reminders for events, prepwork for upcoming patches, and so on.

QoL idea (playing with the alleged theory that inventory slots are limited beyond expansion)

Job stones are in practice a waste of space, because there's nothing you can realistically do with them, you don't need to interact with them in any meaningful way as you can't even manually change jobs by moving them, so... why not remove Job Stones from being items and make them something like an interface feature toggle? A new menu category named "Job Stones" or something like that.

This would free up 25 slots, but then these could be converted into a "Materia Bag". When acquired, they would go directly in there and the bag could hold up to the capacity and any additional ones would go into your inventory.

(Edit: I wouldn't complain if it was a Dye bag instead)

-Remove disciple classes (and just make them jobs only).

I would really like it if there was a color variation to the Closed Position icons when there is more than one DNC in the party.
