Fix Recommendation for 1100002
Dx 11 error fixed by: Downloading Visual C++ Redistributable
(Note: At :cool:My Fix:cool: which is at the bottom of the post, I recommend trying that before reading my rambles.;) Who knows, the issue might be as easy as you've thought!)
I'll begin with my incredible journey (A.k.a: Warrior of 1100002). So, I had this error since running Final Fantasy XIV with Windows 10 and had to deal with 1100002 (Savage) IN PF:
1. "Basic" formatting for Windows 10 (Under Settings>Update & Security>Recovery>Reset this PC).
2. Updating Drivers "WITH" (Search Automatically for Drivers). I did that, which most people knows, by: (⊞ +X>Device Manager>Right click all drivers>Update Drivers).
3. I tried MANUALLY update drivers, I followed this guide: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-update-drivers-in-windows-2619214
4. Typing "cmd" in search bar, run as adminstrator. In the command prompt window, typed: "sfc /scannow" (Note: without quotation marks.)
5. Typing "cmd" in search bar, run as adminstrator. In the command prompt window, typed: "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" (Note: without quotation marks.)
6. Typing "dxdiag" in search bar, run as adminstrator. (Note: For searching any corrupted "CORE" .dll files, which I'm sure is NOT the problem for most people.)
7. After resetting, I tried to change the compatibility mode of "ALL" Square Enix Application Folders (ffxiv, ffxiv_dx11, ffxivboot, ffxivconfig, ffxiv launcher, ffxivupdater) to Windows 8.
8. Also, I went to (My Documents>FINAL FANTASY XIV>A Realm Reborn>FFXIV) and changing "Screen Mode" to value of 2. (Note: It changes the startup screen mode as "Borderless Windows". Which I have found that fatal dx errors crash less often in that screen mode.)
9. Tried underclocking with MSI Afterburner, which caused the game to be Microsoft PowerPoint..
And then, guess what? It crashed again! Woohoo!
I finally decided to do a full wipe for my PC. (Note: Please be extremely careful when attempting the steps below as u cannot retrieve any files in any "conventional" way. If done incorrectly, worse case scenario is you can't use your PC and sending to an expert.)
1. I installed a program that wipes ALMOST every piece of software in my PC (DBAN). By following this guide: https://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/windows-10/how-to-wipe-your-pc-with-windows-10-11364002707321
2. Reinstalled Windows 10 with a OS boot drive. Did the nessesary updates etc. By following this youtube video guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYYoCXh2gtw
:cool:My Fix:cool:
3. Installed Visual C++ Redistributable. (Note: Yes, I know. This fix has been mentioned for so long. But I was confused about which version to download or its legitimacy.)
