I would say Lyse.
And definitely Fordola
The only real issue I had with Lyse is her inviting the Qalyana to her meeting when she should already know that they were tempered by Lakshmi during the MSQ of 4.0. Predictably, the Qalyana summon Lakshmi again and attempt to forcibly temper everyone in the room, with it being revealed later on that several guards were also tempered and had to be put down. Even with the WoL and Arenvald giving it their all to prevent Lakshmi's orbs from reaching the others they were still about to be overwhelmed. Were it not for Fordola's timely intervention, everyone in the throne room would have been tempered, and Arenvald and the WoL would have either died in the process or been forced to kill their own comrades. It just strikes me as especially odd because Lyse, having been a Scion for at least 5 years, should know how fanatical tempered individuals are, and that they will do anything to summon their deities.
It just feels like a massive writing blunder to me in my opinion.
Lyse or her doppleganger from another world. You know who I'm talking about, the story is basically the same. I couldn't stand Lyse's storyline and I didn't like [ retracted ]
I hate this guy.

Cheers
Asahi and Valens, really nobody else can come come close to how much i hate these two.
Dont think anyone will surpass them either xD
The only character I can think of that ever truly got on my nerves was Asahi.
His condescending attitude, his pathetic attempts at social-climbing, his bloated ego, and that smirk on his face.
He's the only character that has actually inspired disgust in me.
Holy necro post
To the OP: Nhaza'a Jaab
I hope those sharks ate well that day.
Alpinaud and his Brother, worst NPCs and siblings ingame
Lyse by far the worthless and useless character, so bad written and yet she got and entire expansion.
Thanks to god she got removed in Shadowbringers and almost not seen in EW.
Zeno, please stay dead this time.
Hmmm, lemme think. Lemme think. Valens van Varro. 100% detested that man.
We have new NPCs from 2018+, so here's my list:
Tataru
Nanamo Ul Namo
Lyse
Alphinaud
Hildibrand
I don't hate Lyse as much as everyone else seems to. I didn't love her, and actually find it sort of funny how quickly she was relegated to "Who's that again?" status in EW (I think Cirina actually gets more screen time/dialogue), but I don't really dislike her all that much.
I do hate Asahi.. but that's kind of the point. When give the option to step in between him and Amon, I actually choose the "..." option because they both deserved each other in whatever hell they ended up in. No way I'm stopping anything that happens there.
I don't particularly care for Graha, particularly in how he's portrayed after being let out of the tower. I don't really hate him yet, but I could see it happening if they don't make him less grating and annoying.
I do, however, have a well documented hate of Zenos. He's probably always going to be my choice for a question like this. A complete waste of space and every single thing he was involved in after he offed himself would have been better served narratively if it was written to involve or include someone else (or no one at all).
Runner up would be Hildebrand. Not because I really hate him outright, I just can't stand his content and am always annoyed by both the cult that surrounds him and the otherwise good content you have to slog through his story to get to.
Zenos, Krile, Asahi, Lyse, Alphinaud, Alisae post HW, hermes/fandaniel, grynwhaert or however you spell it, minfilia
all for the same reason, they are all extremely annoying and boring for most of their screentime at best, and some of them are serious idiots that are low points of SE's writing.
Tataru = Satan
Lyse, stupid Girl. What has she done for Ala Mhigo. We had the fight for it and has that ungrateful pig ever thanked us?
Y'shtola, jesus let her die already. I have enough of her stupid Fake Deads and the moment she stood infront of Hydaelyn, to tell her what she thinks about the Sundering. OMG HATE, RAGE and some Slaps to that stupid Face.
Hydaelyn, does anyone know what promise she made to us?
Krile, I have the feeling that she betrayed us, she send Zenos to us, to get a revenge for what Fordola and Zenos did to her. That I can not forgive her.
Alphinaud, Ryne, Gaia and maybe even Jullus (even if he is new) - don't like to have a Kindergarten with me.
Yugiri, nothing more as a Fangirl of Hien, I disslike him too. They are both boring.
Ran'jit, was he Zenos on the first?
Hildibrand & Godbert, gosh I hate both.
Minfilia for letting Moenbryda die.
Fordola
Cid Garlond, every damn single Day in the Main Scenario, i want just to Kill him.
Aymeric, he is just boring.
Yotsuyu.
And Hien when he was all like "She forgot who she was for 10 minutes. So I must protecc and NOT kill the Hingan Hitler."
The fact that SE didn't let us disagree ... not even in the "Complaint registered, but I'm in charge, so go save her anyway WoL, just smile and nod" way ... was by FAR the low point of Stormblood for me. Probably the game as a whole.

For not being my Lesbian Wife
Seriously, I hate her, we would have been a Power Couple strong enough to take down Raubahn & Pipin
y'shtola became annoying to me after arr
Y'shtola since ShB till EW. Her attitude toward all of her own act of self sacrifice screams "Tee-hee! I have plot armor :) Ya'all can't touch me!". I dislike her even more when she mentioned about Azem's crystal in Ultima Thule. It really kills the mood at the moment.
Minfilia in ARR. I'm glad how they've wrote her involvement in ShB though.
G'raha Tia in 5.4 to 5.55. Too simp'ish in contrast to their involvement in the base expansion.
Cirina. Can't really describe, but something about her being wimpy doesn't sell positively to me.
Emmanellain. Reminds myself of being that spoiled kiddo for once lol.
Asahi. No, get out of my face. Really.
Zenos
He's a forced villain/"equal"(read: no way in hell is this sack of bad writing an equal to the WoL) that should've stayed dead after he offed himself.
Ilberd and Zephirin
Instead of calofisteri-reskinned super yandere stalker and double shield savage mode road kill as the individual sub bosses, we should have had sloppeh and lightspear plothole in the Aitiascope as a two-mob 1st mini boss. Then get the other two for the 2nd mini boss.
(tbf Aitiascope was a wasted opportunity to do interesting things... but I digress)
Thordan VII
Using him in his primal form was such a boring method of offing an Ascian. We needed a separate big fight, not... whatever cheap plothole that was.
Lyse
She has such cheap, atrocious character writing after revealing herself as Lyse. All throughout SB. Was better masquerading as Yda, but even then...
Hermes/Amon/Fandaniel
He feels like an asspull.
Being too naive, stupid and secretive nearly destroyed the star. Along with countless other stars that have probably died out from his creation's misguided "kindness" of "putting them out of their miseries".
Lesser mentions/minor pet peeves
Alphinaud
He's not as significantly annoying as he was in ARR/HW, but I don't like how too buddy-buddy he is... meh.
G'raha Tia
Something about his EW character doesn't sit well with me. Still kinda like him, but not as much.
Ardbert
Righteous idiot doomed his world, the First, wishing to eliminate darkness. Not that he knew he accidentally summoned a primal, or anything at all, but still...
Y'shtola
How many "get out of lifestream for free" cards after using Flow must this boring woman pull before it's abused beyond ridiculousness?
Vrtra
He let his frontman and most trusted ally Ahewann literally get eaten by a damn terminus/final days monster. Yes he was too worried about being exposed, but he was the "dragon" that was the allied partner to the satrap! How could he be worried when the people of Radz-at-Han, heck even most of not all of Thavnair, knew of this? Good baskets of bread loaves and cheese. /frustration
I know who exactly you were going to say... a certain pact marshal.
For me, Lyse and Zenos. Lyse: More because there was really no reason to change her character’s lore. It was needlessly complicated to have her fake being a scion, and/or impersonate her actual sister, especially when everyone already knew anyway.
Zenos because there wasn’t really a point to him being around. He could have died in Stormblood and never come back and we could have had essentially the same story in Endwalker. You could argue “but we had to ride on him to keep up with the Endsinger”, to which I would retort..we have a fricking spaceship that got us to the final zone and back in an amount of time that allowed Sharlayan to just loiter outside.
It’s more that I have a dislike of building something up if there really isn’t any significance to it.
Lyse probably
Oh, this thread.
I would like to make an update to mine, actually:
I’d change it now to a few others. Estinien is a bit more palatable in EW — though he’s still way down at the bottom of the list for my favorite characters.
Top has to go to Zenos. Mostly because he just did…nothing since being revived after 4.0. He was fine at the end of 4.0. I actually thought he was pretty decent in his one-dimensionality and singularly-driven mindset. But then they brought him back and he hasn’t done anything but lust after fighting us for the last 4 years. There’s just zero intrigue to his character, and his role could have been fulfilled by Fandaniel just fine (actually, it kind of was, since Fandaniel became Zodiark while Zenos just Surprised Pikachu at what I saw coming a mile away). I will admit his ending in EW was fitting. Minus the forced fight, his words afterward gave him a decent end. Now, if we can just leave him there instead of bringing him back a third time, that’d be greeeeat….
But I’m also not really a fan of Lyse. Character background being retconned aside, the Stormblood writers just really failed her as a character—and unlike some others, I feel like she didn’t really get a proper “redemption”. Minfilia was far at the bottom of my list, but what bit of her they showed in 5.0 sort of redeemed her for me: giving Ryne the option to choose her path going forward was a really nice touch, while also staying true to the character she was always portrayed as. Lyse I feel was…almost done dirty in a way? I have that thought every time I play through SB.
She wasn’t given any sort of real resistance to her ideals and idealistic nature after we returned from Doma—there was a quite a bit of that in The Peaks and Ala Ghanna, but nothing really afterwards. She spent way too much time kind of in the background while we were in Doma/Othard. Her being thrust into a leadership role wasn’t really… questioned or anything. She didn’t seem to face any real “challenges” being thrown into that position, or a learning curve of any kind. She honestly didn’t show the qualities fitting for it. I think Hien did a better job in one half-scene he was barely in by comparison—when he told Yugiri that he will do what his people want: if they want him to fight, he’ll give them his sword; if they don’t want to fight, he’ll surrender his head to the enemy. I don’t know. I think the writers just didn’t do the best job with Lyse.
Also not a huge fan of Y’shtola. She has way too much plot armor, and it doesn’t really feel like she…does much? I feel like she got to have a bit more significance in ShB (a little bit, but not much since she was practically absent for most of HW and SB); but she’s a Scion that could honestly step out of the picture and we’d be fine to continue on. Also just tired of her fake deaths every expansion.
There’s a few Scions that I think could step out of the picture now—but that’s another topic for another time.
No character in this game annoys me as much as Hope in FF13 did. No character is more deserving of being slapped so hard their face stays red for a month then him. He is the king of annoying useless characters. Put ashai, aplhy, lyse and minfilia togather you get HOPE!!!
Didn't expect to see this here lol; Hope annoyed me in FF13 too. Like, okay, it's extremely sad that you had to watch your mom literally die in front of you, but at some point his hate for Snow felt forced. No clue why Lightning got along so well with him - what were they bonding over? Their collective hate for Snow (why did Lightning dislike Snow again?)? Both being emotionally hollow? I enjoyed FF13 and its sequels a bunch, but some characters are just... off. Vanille and Sazh were more fun to watch.
Hope's entire performance in the first game ruined him in future games for me as well. Was any of his hidden talent for nerd things ever shown in 13? Academia all being his baby was out of nowhere a bunch.
Every single Loporrit. I hated those stupid things and I hope they don't make a reappearance.
Can I just choose every lalafell and loporrit in the game and call it a day?
If not, I suppose I'd have to pick Tataru above all of them. I'd gladly fly her all the way to Ultima Thule just to fire her out an airlock just to be rid of her for good.
It's hard to pick cause there are a lot, but the most important mentions:
Alisaie on top, since you can't escape her;
every character in the Hildibrand quests, him included;
every character in the ninja job quests.
cant stand lolorito
Emet-Selch. The only major villain in the game that has no sympathetic reason behind his actions. Losing Hythlodaeus (and others who sacrificed themselves to summon Zodiark) is not a good enough reason to wanting to bring rejoinings (and killing millions in the process) because they volunteered.
