Funny thing is, Omega will be mostly dealt with as it will be a raid in 4.0 therefore not the subject of the main scenario.

People had said they see a human-like legs in the sealing sphere. After looking at the scene closely, it does appear like legs

I can atleast see the outline of the shoes ... and pants?
So, for grins, I compared this to the 3.4 video, and a couple of things stood out.
Power like the power to raise a primal through your deaths? Might tie in with the Rhalgr idea, or it could be akin to chasing an untamed ornithoid without cause.Quote:

Wasn't there a line somewhere implying that some of the Ala Mhigans signing up to The Griffin's cause hadn't been seen since?
I see this more as a "Post-Game" Dungeon rather than like Bahamut/Dalamud.
Bahamut/Dalamud was a continuation of 1.0 Main Story that was left unfinished. To Characters that are born in 2.0 era as WoL this story does not have much link to their character but for 1.0 WoL characters it is for them a goal to finally put a end to their story they started in 1.0 and finally move forward into this new Era.
Here with Omega it feels like some big event in 4.0 will cause Omega to disappear into the Dimensional Rift thus leaving the story for the players to determine for themselves as either Omega disappears forever to be lost in the Dimensional Rift or that something is not right after what happened to Omega in 4.0 Main Scenario and the WoL decides to investigate the fate of Omega as a Post-Game storyline thus resulting a "what If" effect in the storyline that if the WoL choose believe Omega is gone for good in 4.0 the WoL never investigated the Dimensional Rift and there is no Global threat caused by Omega being in the Dimensional Rift but if the WoL choose to believe Omega is still a threat the story follows the WoL into investigating the Dimensional Rift thus sparking events so that Omega does become a Global threat. Kind of like in the game White Knight Chronicles where the story did end for the Main Characters but a Post-Game story begins involving the Player's customized character to investigate the strange ruins born from the after-math of the Main Storyline of White Knight Chronicles and no matter what the Player choose to do the Main Antagonist is defated by a group of adventurers but the only difference is if the Player character is part of that group or not.
However, all this is just a bunch of...
https://31.media.tumblr.com/d8a8fa83...rrje9w_500.gif
so the outcome and Fate of Omega remains the same but the cause of that fate is determined by what the WoL choose to do.
Finally watched it!
Fights look intense as always.
Umm...
For story, I wasn't expecting Nero to actually go to the Alliance for this. Still, he's a schemer, and you always gotta read into a schemer's moves. While he has a point that sending us in alone and hoping we succeed so the world doesn't collapse isn't exactly the best solution (not to mention extraordinarily lazy of the GCs), I'm still not convinced he's in it for wholly good reasons. Side note: I'm not yet convinced he's heroic or an expatriate, exactly, since because he can't return to Garlemald Nero has few other options. That said if Omega is going to play a part in 3.5(.5), this could be a more clear first step toward positive character development for him, not to mention calling out the GCs on treating us practically as their beast of burden for saving the world time and again.
I figured the fighting on Baelsar's Wall was going to be in response to the Ala Mhigan Resisance (esp. the Masks) stirring up trouble. Did not expect it to be for killing people and using their life force, apparently, to summon a new primal. Damn you,IlberdGriffin! I swear if he's using this as a lure to get more people killed to summon / empower this new primal...
Also, were those Warmechs?!
Very flashing. Such images. GET HYPE!!!
Using Omega to shoot a Dalamud gun at this new primal? Hmm. Let's hope it works, because it looks like bad juju if it doesn't. Since Omega is going to be the 4.x raid I'm... not sure one way or another.
Upon learning it was heavily implied the False Griffin was Gallien, I took a gander to Quarrymill and spoke to the refugees there. If you speak with Meffrid, he says that his men have heard about the Griffin and some have joined his cause - but none have been heard back from. The fact death is being used to summon / empower this new primal has me more worried than ever about what, exactly, the Masks are up to.
I won't be too surprised if the Primal was powered up using human sacrifice. That's what some of the beast tribes resorted to do and was highlighted with Ga Bu's parents.
It's been a while, but didn't Moenbryda say that a person's aether gets stronger/increases moments before their death, especially the faithful? With Nidhogg's eyes being an aether battery I can see the Griffin using that to store the aether released from these sacrifices. Especially with the Scions alerting the authorities of the Masks they might not be able to obtain the necessary amounts of crystals without being found out
The main question is: How much do people know about the other plans in motion? Sure the Ascians or at least Elidibus knows everything cause that's his shtick. Being all: "just according to keikaku" regardless of what is happening.
The way things seem:
- Nero knows about Omega and has plans for it.
- If Nero is to be believed, the Garleans know of Omega and have plans independant of what Nero is planning. They also might not know that Nero is still around.
- The Griffin has no idea about Omega, but he has the eyes of Nidhogg and has plans with it.
- Elidibus definitely knows about the eyes as he gave them to the Griffin, but most likely made sure that his agenda is furthered regardless of the Griffin succeeding or not.
- The Alliance and the Scions know about Omega, about Nero being around, about the Griffin being around and planning something involving primals against the Garleans (as that's what he was working on int 3.4) and the Scions at the very least probably count on an Ascian Overlord or two being behind at least one of the plans. I mean they should take it for granted after all their scheamings. But they have no freakin idea that the Eyes of Nidhogg are no longer in that bottomless pit.
- And there is Ada Wong somewhere in all of this, who is a complete blank regarding her affiliation and knowledge of the other players.
Most likely yes. I didn't mean to imply that the storylines will connect. Previous raids never did that. Although there is some connection between the Crystal Tower and the Coil. But if we go to the actual real Ivalice we have to cross the interdimensional rift. So if Omega Weapon is sealed inside the rift, then that is a common theme between the two at least.
Thinking back now to speculation that started during the last XI event: Iroha is going to reappear and be the SAM job IF SAM comes in 4.0 (since apparently she had the Samurai Job in XI)
If SAM is not a part of 4.0 she will still appear, but as part of the DRG storyline.
Precisely. She got the idea from the card Louisoix played against Bahamut, without knowing that the faith and aether concentrated at the time of his death ultimately ended up summoning Louisoix himself, who then dedicated the next five years to reconstructing Bahamut beneath Thanalan so that he might finish his fiery revenge against mankind.
So really, it's a stupid, messy, dangerous card to play, even if you truly do wish to nobly give your life for your noble cause. Hopefully our allies will be well and truly off that kick once they see it performed by a dangerous, yet charismatic, lunatic.
From what i'v seen, the unknow primal appearing at first sigh as white dalamud is luring Omega weapon, while the second is charging a huge blast it looks like it's been stoped at the last moment. The huge blast might be the thing inside dalamud breaking free...
(BTW inst it the same Nid Eyes at first sight in dalamud ? it look the same as the one during Thordan's fight)
Unless they are going back on their word, we will not be going to the real Ivalice.
While I do think SAM is a contender for a new job, since we have Doma (and Yugiri reentering the narrative), Iroha seems... I dunno... unnecessary?
Could be one of those "Two sides of the same coin" storylines where in Omega Raid we see events unfold in the Dimensinal Rift and cause certain events to happen in Ivalice Raid while in Ivalice Raid we see events unfold into dealing with a different "Dimentional Being" that is from the Dimensional Rift while also sparking events that will lead into Omega Raid story Events.
Two different Endgame Final bosses but both are related and connected to each other.
Guild Wars 2 did this with the final boss of Heart of Thorns where the Main Storyline event is happening at the same time as the Final Map Meta boss event where the Meta Map event is a direct battle with the Final boss's body and the Main Storyline Mission is a direct battle with a different part of the Final Boss. The Meta map would explain why the Story Mission boss is weakened and physically killed while the story mission explained why the Final boss died at the final moment of the Meta Map event due to both happening at the same time.
With the Dimensional Rift they can pull this plot off if they follow that time moves differently in the Dimensional Rift if players have a WoL going through both Omega and Ivalice storyline.
I think those speculating about human sacrifice are missing the obvious answer, if you look at the scene timing in the videos. The Eyes go berserk and the primal is summoned after the mass of death at Baelsar's Wall. Whether it is related or a misdirection is up to you.
No, we totally got that part. I think none of us doubt that the Eye summons a primal thanks to all the death. Questions are: Which Primal is summoned, who was in on the plan, how does Omega fit into all of this, what will the Garleans do if they realise that humans can summon primals and even turn into one?
Nidhogg is no more, though - so unless I'm mistaken I don't believe the eyes are sentient any longer. Surely they're just 'aether batteries' at this point in time. Unless, of course, Lahabrea is returning once more to wreak havoc...
Yeah Nidhogg is no more. Still, the world at large in unaware that said aether batteries are available for use. And if the Griffin uses the eyes to summon Rhalgr, you end up in a situation that is worse than Nidhogg comming back again. I mean you already killed him twice so he would not be that hard to kill again. But Rhalgr is.....different.
I forgot people can summon primals unto themselves...
... ok, it all makes sense now. No mercy. No forgiveness.
I'm a little slow sometimes.
Here is my theory currently on how it will play out. The Eorzean alliance will be tricked into attacking the Wall resulting in a large amount of death. The death will be used to trigger the summoning of the primal. Papalymo will attempt to repeat the sealing ritual that was attempted on Bahamut using Tupsimati. Omega will come in, eat the primal and everything will explode in everyone's face.
If we're throwing out precise hypotheses (or theories, if you want to call them that)...
With the clips of the Griffin talking at the end of the trailer, there is still a shadow of a doubt (always will be until he takes off the mask) but it's fairly safe to say Ilberd is definitely the Griffin. The voices are similar enough, running on my memory. (If they hadn't recast everyone but Aymeric and Haurchefant I'd be far more certain...)
1. We're going to be called for a meeting at the Lotus Stand. We'll be informed the Garleans are about to go on the offensive and try to acquire Omega from the Cartenau Flats with too massive a force to counter. Nero will interrupt and suggest the GCs intervene as well, but they will decline to do so for whatever reason (lack of manpower, neutral territory, take your pick).
2. We're sent to repel the invasive force. This is where we meet the Garlean Roegadyn officer with a gunshield and gunhammer. Nero will intervene with his souped-up red magitek armor, and we will manage to repel them before Cid saves us on the Excelsior.
3. After returning to safety, Nero will suggest he and Cid return Omega to operational status for a contingency plan. Just in case. They do so - this becomes important later.
4. The Masks are going to rile up trouble on Baelsar's Wall, causing the Garleans to go on the offensive against all of Eorzea and necessitating military intervention from the GCs. This is a setup by Ilberd, who will use the aether from the soldiers' deaths and the Eyes, along with the faith of the Ala Mhigan refugees, to transform himself into a primal (of Rhalgr?). (This... this I cannot forgive.)
[5.] Papalymo will use Tupsimati to try and seal away Super Saiyan Ilberd like Louisoix did Bahamut, but like Bahamut it won't be enough. Cid & co. will arrive to extract survivors on airships.
[6.]Restored Omega will have to blast Super Saiyan Ilberd with its main cannon to stop him. (Note: it looks like it's Yda hitting the button to fire the cannon, and in the same scene there's another person standing behind Cid. I can't make out who it is exactly, but from what I can see it looks like Dragonlancer's armor - which would mean it's Derplander, and by extension that we'll be there when they fire the cannon.) The blast will annihilate Baelsar's Wall, opening the door for us to go into Ala Mhigo.
7. 5.0. Then ???.
5 and 6 are interchangeable until I know more. Or perhaps we'll have to shoot Super Saiyan Ilberd with Omega because the best we can do with Tupsimati is bind him for a few moments? I dunno... I'm kinda tired, and probably wrong anyway. Maybe Baelsar's Wall happens early, and reactivating Omega will be suggested by Nero as a last, desperate move against Super Saiyan Ilberd? Considering his nature and the way the EN dialogue tends to be a bit vague, I'm not sure if Nero's being literal or poetic when snarking at the GC council how they always send us in and "pray the world is not engulfed in flame."
I'm just not sure, since a lot of characters who appear in the Baelsar's Wall scenes are also in scenes surrounding Omega and the White Dalamud. Both Yda and Derplander are present there, but also inside Omega with Cid and Nero when Yda slams her fist onto the button. Baelsar's Wall -> Super Ilberd -> White Dalamud -> Cartenau -> Omega -> Wave Cannon? And the blast is still what lets us get into Gyr Abania / Ala Mhigo proper...
Here's hoping this doesn't get as depressing as Danganronpa 3: Side Despair... but I got a bad feelin'...
Sounds about right so far. Question is, what happens to the Griffin when Omega eats the primal, and what causes the explosion?
While it would make sense to search for Omega to counter Primal Griffin, that would give him way too much time to run amok. And the trailer shows what appears to be the Griffin's corpse at the wall (might be one of the fakes). I doubt G-Man would stick around at the wall while the Garleans and the Eorzeans race to excavate Omega. Unless Tupsimati can put Primal Griffin to sleep for a time.
I don't think the Griffin will die off. Almost certainly we are going to have to deal with extreme elements in the Ala Mhigan rebellion in Stormblood. Also as much as I would like to kick his ass or have Omega eat him, part of me really wants to see the old guy in Ala Mhigo put a spear in his gut for killing Wilred. There would be something Karmacly poetic about that.
I have long since had enough of Ilberd's crap. I want to punch Lolorito in the face for the stuff he did but at least he has been honest about being a manipulative and sleazy jerk. Ilberd is a traitor, even to his own cause. I could sympathise with him if he hadn't killed Wilred. Killing off the people he is supposed to be trying to win back Ala Mhigo for just makes him a hypocrite.
I think it's a reasonable line of events, though we don't know where the part 2 will come into that, and what gut-punch is left for that. A trial, at the very least I would have thought.
In light of your suggestions, I wonder, then, if Papalymo is for the chop. He's now wielding Tupsimati and if he intends to do what Louisoix did, well... we all know how that worked out. Which would be a shame, because they've just got rid of his squeaky VA and made him decent in the last patch.
I'm personally hoping if he does consider it, he'll stop, or perhaps that's where Yda's desperate button-slamming comes into play.
"I have Tupsimati! I can end this! I know you'll be fine without me!"
"I won't let you! We've lost enough! We have another way!"
*deploys death robot*
Deploying Omega is of course, also a bad idea, but they've done bugger all to make me care about that mountain in the distance, and Yda and Pap are my 1.0 starter buds, so I refuse to lose either of them.
I wonder if the primal being summoned is Griever, being almost literal griffin summon. It would probably reflect the twisted patriotism of The Griffin better than even Rhalgr.
Call be stupid but I'm still not sold on the Griffin being Ilberd. Ilberd's voice is more scottish. At any rate I also hope I get the chance to kill him with some kind of very impractical weapon. As for extremist Ala Mhigans: There are several candiates. Ilberd, if he's not the Griffin, one of the fake Griffins, Ada Wong perhaps. If you think about it, it is a win win situation for the Griffin. If he wins he'll bring down the wall and liberate Gyr Abania literally on his own with his primal powers. If we is killed, he will become a martyr and galvanize every Ala Mhigan into a rebellion. From the perspective of Elidibus either a primal form of Rhalgr runs amok and causes a calamity or Omega Weapon eats Rhalgr and he gets to hijack a fully empowered Allagan superweapon the same way Lahabrea took control of Ultima. Whatever happens, the bad guys win.
I think those legs still belong to the Griffin. The Primal could look like anything at all. Then again, most primals are humanoid looking.
I'm pretty sure the Griffin / Ilberd isn't going to be killed off - not before the tentative Primal Rhalgr is summoned. Yes, I still believe he will be the last boss on Baelsar's Wall, but that doesn't necessarily mean we're going to kill him - we're heroes, after all - or that he'll be killed later on. Personally, if what I'm reading into this is true, I would kill him in a heartbeat - betraying the Crystal Braves, dismembering my General, trying to kill my General, and now riling up trouble to lure Alliance soldiers to their deaths on Baelsar's Wall to empower himself. That's a bit much for me to forgive.
Anyway, now that I'm rested I've rethought things and tried to plot it out a bit more clearly. Remember they're trying to put the dungeons early into the MSQ now so people who don't care about the story don't have to worry about doing a bunch of story to get EX Roulette back up.
1. Baelsar's Wall
2. Primal Rhalgr(?)
3. White Dalamud
4. Lotus Stand
5. Cartenau (3.5 End)
6. Omega Restored (3.5.5 Begin)
7. White Dalamud Explodes
8. Wave Cannon
9. Final Showdown with Super Griffin(?)
The Masks make trouble up on Baelsar's Wall, necessitating intervention from the Alliance. The Griffin uses this to get lots of people killed and transform himself into a primal. Papalymo uses Tupsimati to seal the new primal into a White Dalamud, but knows it won't last forever and we need another, more permanent answer. Unsure of what to do, the Alliance calls a council at the Lotus Stand. Nero interrupts and suggests Omega. We go to Cartenau to reclaim it, but have to deal with the Garleans because they've flown in to get it for the same purpose (and future use). Nero and Cid, combining their expertise, get Omega operational again, and we fly in to stop the new primal. White Dalamud explodes, forcing us to blast the new Primal with Omega's Wave Cannon. The explosion of White Dalamud and/or Omega's Wave Cannon destroys Baelsar's Wall, opening a door into Gyr Abania. Before we can go to the region proper, we will have one final battle - the new primal, severely weakened from Wave Cannon, in 3.5.5. After that, 4.0.
This seems to be the best theory so far, Cilia. What we need to figure out is what in the seven hells is Primal Griffin doing while we have the council and bring Omega online. I'd wager he plans to waltz into Ala Mhigo as a primal, but we don't cross the wall untill 4.0
Or will Papalymo cross on his own with us staying in Carteneau at the Omega control center? That could happen as we did see the cathedral in Ishgard before Heavensward. In that case we might go into Gyr Abania to get Papalymo out from behind enemy lines. With the Griffin dead or at least MIA his second in command Ada Wong takes over and helps us get to Rhgalgr's Reach and in exchange asks us to help the revolution. A request that is extra hard to deny considering she is Yda's sister.
Yes, this could work.
Well... it could be that Papalymo will use Tupsimati to cast "White Dalamud" to imprison the new primal, but given he didn't have the time to prepare it won't last indefinitely and as we saw with Bahamut it's kind of a flawed move. Granted said primal will likely be less powerful than Bahamut so it'll be imprisoned longer, but we'll still be aware it won't last forever and we need another, more permanent answer. Enter Omega.
Explains the explosion (primal breaks free) and why we're still going after Omega. Also provides a handy cutoff for 3.5 before 3.5.5.
With what we have now, this is my best guess. I can't approximate the actions and purpose of every character, but...
This was my innitial idea, but Yda's role had me reconsider. When se hits that button it seems like a desperate move on her part. Like a last resort to save Papalymo. Besides Papalymo is not seen with Yda inside the control room. Something had to happen to separate them. Maybe Papalymo fully intended it to be a sucidie mission "I'll go in and try to stop it on my with Tupsimati in case you can't get Omega fast enough". He probably wouldn't want anyone go with him into certain doom. Especially not Yda. Of course for all we know half of the Scions could be there with him. We see Cid, Yda, Derplander and Nero in the control room. The japanese tailer revealed that Alisae asked Yugiri to come along in case Nero does something funny to kill him, so chances are she is also nearby. That leaves us with a lot of Scions who could be there with Papalymo.
I really wonder what will happen to Omega though. I'm guessing 4.0 will continue immediately. Maybe if Papalymo does not get stuck inside, Omega will. And it wouldn't be too much fun for the Alliance if a fully operational Allagan superweapon would get lost somewhere in Garlean territory.
Well, I'm not psychic. I can't make educated guesses without information - and I refrain from raw speculation, since dealing in possibilities is largely pointless. Like I said I can't guess the actions of any and every piece on the board - just what I see.
That said, we can be fairly assured that at least Thancred and Yda are safe. One of the flashing images is of them on an airship, looking down at what is implied to be the aftermath of the carnage on Baelsar's Wall. Other than that I can't say for sure what's happened to Papalymo that he's not with us inside Omega when Yda slams the button that implicitly fires his Wave Cannon.
Perhaps she's just extremely hesitant to fire it at all, since resorting to Omega is a desperation move in the first place and giant exploding death lasers should be avoided at all costs? We're going past my ability to analyze...
If i recall well, The island with students have been vanish with Ultima's spell, since Omega is way powerfull what could happen to this part of eorzea ? giant hole ?
Nah. Ultima was used by Ultima Weapon at the end of the 2.0 main scenario. It blew up Castrum Meridianum. That's a pretty big boom, but not enogh to make the Island of Baldesion disappear. Which happened after Ultima Weapon was destroyed anyway. We never learned what happened to the Island. All we know that the Ascians attempted another rejoining. Or at the very least make everyone disappear before they figure out something the Ascians would rather keep hidden.
I don't know how powerful that wave cannon, but it probably hits like a truck.
One thing bothers me though. Omega seems small. As in relatively Ultima sized. Definitely large enough to have the party fight raids inside it like the Coil and Alexander. So how will the 8 man raid series work?
In Omega's first appearance, it was ambling around the Cleft of Dimension as an optional boss you could fight on your way to Exdeath. We'll probably need to go inside something else to fight it (a Bend in Time?), rather than the current pattern of fighting a "heart" inside the larger being.
On the one hand, it's less "epic" scaled from the outside. On the other: something that (relatively) small took down the dragon Lousoix died (failing) to defeat. That was the size of a small moon. What iLv do you need to survive a hit from something like that?
From the looks of things they're using the model from FF Mobius which in size wasn't that big.
