I for one will have to see the billing system Square Enix introduces. If it stays the same as it currently is for Final Fantasy XI, I'll most likely be done with XIV as I am with XI. The 2.0 update looks awesome, I won't lie. However until that is implemented, I can't find a good reason to actually pay yet if I'll be charged in a very crappy way with crappy options. . . if they tack on the $12.99 which seems to be the a mere $2 below standard now, I'll probably just cancel my XIV, and play Star Wars: The Old Republic up until 2.0 comes out, either way I'll be playing Star Wars, whether or not I keep on playing XIV will greatly depend on how they introduce billing, since it'll be directly completing with that game which I've been waiting for for YEARS, and it's actually living up to what people hoped it to be, unlike XIV. Will it be a full price billing up until 2.0, or reduced then full price at 2.0? Will they have packet discounts like almost every other MMO, like say reduced charges for paying 3, 6, 12 months, or heck for us that have stuck with XIV, offer a Lifetime Fee? If they offer a Lifetime one time fee within reason, I'll pay it. Same for packages. I for one am hoping Square Enix doesn't get greedy with this. I really enjoyed this free year+, and I still am. I'm not complaining about the fact that billing will start, I knew it would come, merely of how they'll do it and the timing they choose.
If they don't rid themselves of click and buy beforehand i am gone until a new payment option is available. I had 3 random charges for random ammounts from them in the past few months and I had to dispute it with my bank and remove my info from the site.
While undecided about this move to p2p, i was leaning towards quitting, mainly cause it may enable SE to bring out poor quality products because fanboys will just keep feeding SE cash no matter how bad the product is.
But what i am starting to realize, is that i am a fkn fanboy. Since my introduction to jrpgs and Square in general when i first saw ffvii, I have loved every story, every art direction that the ff series has brought me. I want more SE, and while i will have that slight itch that ffxvi may not live up to its hype of 2.0. I so fkn want it too.
If taking my money to invest in what i saw in that concept art of 2.0, then so be it. Make it happen, SE.
Glad to see such a high number of people planning to stay compared to those jumping ship.
I was ready to pay on 1.18. Hell, I was ready to play after playing beta.
I don't think it's worth spending the money on now. I plan on popping back in around February and seeing how the job system turns out and see what I think then. Incidentally I like where this is going and am looking forward to 2.0.
so many similar topic and i do not know where to post this, so the actual amount to pay is around what.. $12.99/m? $9.99 for the account and $3.00 for character making it up to $12.99
Been playing this since beta and still enjoying it and finding stuff to do and achieve with my character, character is growing every day. and im so excited for version 2.0. will gladly pay to play the game in its current state. There are a lot worse games out there that charge to play lol.
I'm disgusted by the fact that more people voted yes than no, in the state it is in. Sheep...
Yes! I love FFXIV and I'm totally excited about the changes they are making in the future.

Yes, I'm willing to pay for playing.
No, I'm not going pay 12'99 till 2.0 is out; the game might be fixed but still lacks a lot of content and im not gonna pay 12'99 during a year (150€/$!!) to wait for a fix that might fail. I think this game doesn't deserve more than 7$ a month.
voted i would stay
i wouldnt have minded paying from the start really. The game started off as a new experience for me, which is what i was going to pay for, something new.
I don't know why I should support them, if they can't even fix a major crash issue (alt-tabbing) after 1+ years.
I don't want to quite but I don't want to pay now either, the game is still unfinished right ?
I know they have done a lot of work, but the game still has that unfinished feel to it. Also, I still experience battle lag and that is highly annoying, so I won't be paying.
more than double say they going to stay. and i bet half the ppl that are not going to stay. are the same ppl that log on once a new patch comes out. play it for half an hour then come on the forums to say how bad it is. before they put the game back in a draw, not to be seen again till the next patch. we are not going to miss these ppl
The people who have slaved away, and placed their reputation and honor on the table to satisfy the whim's and desires of every whiny trolling member of this forum deserve to be paid for their hard work.
I'll pay.
Since everyone's arguing about subs, I'd like to add that SE should REALLY learn currency conversion. 13$ does NOT equal 13€.
13$ = 9€~
13€ = 18$~
For the love of all that's holy please stop screwing europeans up the butt.

....but yah they do this with everything, they just give the same number to both.
Yes :) I don't know.. the game as it is now is more enjoyable than any other MMORPG.
it makes me laugh. if your not staying then don't stay. but i don't need to hear about it. its like they got to make as much noise about leaving as they can before they go. "i'm taking my ball and i'm going home. but before i do. i got to make sure every1 knows i'm going" ha grow up what are you 10year old?
You got me wrong there, or is it you don't understand what I mean by "unfinished product" ?Quote:
uhmm the game is never finish.
There's 2 types of "not staying" here, one is people like/love the game but they don't want to pay for the game like it is now, two is people just don't want to pay and leave.Quote:
it makes me laugh. if your not staying then don't stay.
That's what I meant, thx bro.Quote:
Anyway, we won't see the real "finished" game until next year with patch 2.0.
While the planned changes outlined in the pdfs do look exciting, I won't be paying the sub for now.
I have restarted my character about 5 times, trying out new patch changes each time, but I can't seem to keep interest for long. I like how they are planning the upcoming changes, but I don't feel like I have gotten even my 75$ worth of a game yet.
A lot of people are saying the game was f2p for a year, but the game wasn't in a state to be charged for the entire year, so I don't really see how that was a favor to me. If se wants my money, I'll be paying when the game is closer to what they have planned (an mmo is never really *finished*, but imo this game was never started).
I wanted to love this game when it was released, but I just couldn't, and it hasn't happened yet. So to the people who will keep playing, please, post youtubes, comments ect. on changes and/or things you're doing ingame that you enjoy. I will be following the games progress, and I hope it gets to the point that I want to play enough that I'm willing to pay.
Good luck to SE and the people supporting them.
494 mindless zombie SE fans voted yes...
I see you've played though take two jobs to level 50, 2 more into the forties and several more over level 30.
That's an awful lot of playtime for a game you claim not to like.
If those 213 (so far) people who voted no, don't think the game is in any fit state at the moment then why are you still playing?
