chocobo would make me happy.
@Gala: I thought I was going to have to flame you because I thought this post was another troll shot begging for the game to be more like FFXI and I was surprised to see it wasn't for that I "liked" your post. Kudos to your 1-10 man.
10 - Implementation of the System parley between players
09 - Quests more sinister, with more content, with options that change the course of it, and no side quests where you help a kid to scare a guy silly silly
08 - A system Tretramaster among the players in which cards will help you in battles normal
07 - Advanced Jobs for all classes, from a Thaumaturgo becoming a necromancer, a Miner to becoming a Master Golem (that last one taken from another post)
06 -Effects on accessories[/B][/B], like protection against poison, against silence, weapons with effects of self-rod, self-heal, fire damage, etc.
05 - Mog Houses, Furnitures, mail system, etc.
04 - real magic animations, not just this simple effects
03 - Classics and status debuffs, like Zombie, Death Sentence and etc. That ones whit lasting effects that need spells or items to be repaired and not only last a few seconds, I never saw anyone die of poison.
02 - effect necessary items, like a potion that will cure deathsick, and this in turn made with a culinary, which is the profession most superfluous in my opinion.
01 - Monsters and challenging classics like Tomberries, Marlboros, Abadons, etc. Bheremuts
Auction House just because you know people are gonna complain when the game is re-launched AND because i still hate the marketplace.
I think I want to re-clarify my top 10, but essentially the #1 thing I want is for this game to establish a direction already.
1- battle system overhaul
2- high end content
3- the enhance of class uniqueness
4- the remove physical levels and application of points for each job
5- chocobo & airships
6- Auction House
7- mog house
8- make navigation possible and the use of our own ships =D
9- more content
10- PVP
Regarding the battle system, here are the top changes I would be happy to see:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post104693
Some things I would like to see (in no particular order or rank):
1. Revamp of the job system to accomodate traditional FF jobs.
2. More weapon types to accomodate the job system (2-hand swords!!!)
3. Chocobos and airships (and maybe a phantom train?? lol saw this in someone else's post in another thread), this may mean a revamp or removal of the anima system, not sure.
4. Revamp of the battle UI. I liked classic FF menus. Maybe they can just change the action bars but I don't know, it seems like it just doesn't work so well.
5. Unlockable jobs? With individual story-driven quests.
6. Bring items like potions and ethers back! I know they're there, but as the game is right now, they might as well not be. Make them more needed and cheap. Phoenix Down can be expensive, it should be. But these should be brought back. And if they're gonna be used in battle, we pretty much need a battle menu system.
7. PLAYER SEARCH
8. MAIL SYSTEM
9. A barber shop to change hairstyles (for a gil fee), credit to Kilta_Firelotus for reminding me.
10. More towns out in the open zones, and actually have stuff in those towns! Like shops to buy potions, or aetheryte crystals, other vendor NPCs, for basic armor or weapons, etc., give the towns a purpose to exist. Side-quests in the towns??
edit: Does it have to be just 10?
11. Removal of physical level and just adjust parameters according to job change. (thank you Khazar)
The game WOULDN'T become FFXI 2.0 because first of all it's a completely different world, with completely different storyline. Think about this:
According to your words, is Final Fantasy V basically Final Fantasy III 2.0? I've said this before to other people.
We can go beyond using the same jobs, and add ADDITIONAL jobs, use different, new features with the job system, like how FF5 sorta-kinda added sub-jobs when FF3 didn't have them.
EDIT:
I also want to say that all a lot of us are asking for is to start us off with the 6 traditional jobs. That is NOT copying FFXI because this concept is from FF1. You can then add whatever other jobs to unlock later, whether they be other higher-end traditional jobs like Paladin or Summoner, or new jobs like Thaumaturge. I would actually like both options availble, because while we still have the traditional feel with jobs like White Mage or Warrior, new jobs will keep the game fresh. Old jobs will keep the game rooted at the same time without letting it fly off away from the series.
I considered that, except... I don't see anywhere in my OP where I implied changes were FFXI-favored. Not even the subject-line suggests that. The statement alone (unless he's specifically targeting me) makes no sense.
I started this thread because it looked like everyone wanted something, and the player polls were only letting players choose between things they liked. What SquareEnix didn't do (and should've) was figure out priorities. What people wanted "more" than something else. It's also open-ended, so any idea, whether it's from FFXI, WoW, etc., could be in their top 10 list.
This is something a player poll couldn't easily accomplish. Just looking back at some people's posts, "content" looks to be the highest priority on everyone's lists. Things like certain jobs, chocobos, mog houses, hairstyling, etc., are positioned lower priority than other desired features that have been brought up in this forum.
Granted the older the post, the more outdated the priority. This still isn't a bad idea tho.
1. Make everything in battle faster, no more stamina system
2. epic magic/skill animation/effects
3. new gears that really look cool
4. epic mobs, no more zoo animals
5. chocobos, mounts
6. summoner, ninja, samurai, bard, dancer, etc
7. auction house
8. personal house
9. chain-side quests
10. casino, pvp arena
I what I would like to see is this:
- More storybased gameplay
- Complex and more strategic combat
- More unique traits in armory system
- Job system and companies
- Faster and more responsive UI
- More low-, mid- and endlevel content
- Dungeon and instances
- Mounts
- More use for DoL in the game as a whole
- Achievement or collection system
- Merciless death penalty, muahahahaha
- Less veterans from FFXI thinking they have special rights and know where this game should go to...
I do like how your two posts are
1) Top 10 changes you'd like to see, followed by the commentary in this quote where you indicate that it would be useful for the designers to see what the players want.
2) A post saying SE needs to make the game itself rather than pander to player's constant wishes.. The idea being that player's are shortsighted and SE would need to design the game as a whole which ultimately would end in higher satisfaction.
Now, you can call me a troll, and the fact is that I certainly am with those 2 points above, but it really is just because I haven't seen you in quite a long time.
That being said, my top 10 list
1) Refocus on the 'unlocking' that made ffxi such a great game of having goals and making accomplishments
2) Create the first real system in the game that is different than just your standard mmo quests/killing mobs. The only thing like that is guildleves so far. A campaign/besieged type thing would be what I am referring to. It can keep people busy forever. Maybe companies go this way.
3) Fix the abysmal targeting system. I've never played a game where I had any issues targeting. Here, while people stick up for it, at its best, it could be considered usable if you are a pro targetter..
4) Fix the clunky interface. FFXI was plagued by this too. Why is there a delay between moving items between yourself and your retainer? Why is there a delay after everything in the game? I have great ping and I never have had this issue in other MMOs
5) Integrate a voice function in the game. EQ2 has this, and it would be a great way to increase the social nature of the game. It is too hard to communicate in roving parties since there is no downtime (since you are always running).
6)Sales history for your own market retainer
7)Link sales history for your market retainer to your lodestone profile
8) Death penalty.. I couldn't care less if i die.. I don't even play with the slightest caution because it doesn't matter at all if i die.
9) Notate the + of items in the market ward system
10) lots and lots of new jobs! Of course, per item 1, they'd need to be unlocked.
1. Summoner (come on now what is FF with out summons.)
2. PVP (Now that would be interesting.)
3. Bank/Mog House
4. I would have to agree with Gear levels.
5. Chocobos/Airships (come on)
6. alot more PVE content
7. more classes. (Like Chocobo Breeder haha, breeding, renting, trading, selling Chocobos.)
8. 9. and 10. are everything above and below this post. lol
