just when you think things could not get worse
Are you people using Authenticators? If not, you should be.
bumping for attention. i dont play enough to worry abt anything but sorry to those who suffered.
approximatly 200 effected.. hah
Good thing se is calling their lawyers on these cheaters and thieves. They already have their ips according to their post.
NO ONE WOULD HAVE BEEN HACKED IF YOU GUYS HAD YOUR CAMERAS ZOOMED OUT! GOD!
Has this issue been fixed after the maintenance , or is it still risky just to even been online on this game :D ?
Between the LUA queries being wide open, this happening, I'm led to believe they have almost no security on their servers. Between all the server problems they had at launch, the amount of bugged content that was in Coil, and all these problems; this is why I unsubbed.
Okay quick question for those who got hacked.
1. You playing on PS3 or PC?
2. You got a token?
Lemme know.
This is what happens when you have RMT's and shit roaming the land
for friggin' days. Sorry to those who got effected. I may been too but I'm scared
to look.
LOL! I know and Oh God, now I'm really scared. I ain't got much but I did hardwork on the lil' 100k I got from
crafting BS. -Sighs- Seriously for a P2P game, we have the worst security I ever seen. Within 2 months, people had a hack attack twice.
This is something that needs and emergency mait. DO SOMETHING ABOUT RMT'S!! Make Pin codes too while you're at it.
Sadly, I'm sort of inclined to agree. How can hackers remotely hack someone while the victim is still online? You get hacked if you go near a market board... Houston, we have a big f'ing problem. Something is incredibly screwed up, and it makes me wonder what else RMT can do at this point. I've never heard of anything like this happening in any MMORPG. It's even more irritating because FFXI was nearly ruined by RMT, and yet here we are, hearing about issues such as this one. Simply amazing.
Judging by some forums, PLAYERS in general can actually do quite a lot. XI wasn't 'nearly ruined' by RMT until SE started banning them and IP blocking and they retaliated. I get what you were trying to say but SE took care of the situation in XI fine in terms of RMT, but it was ruined by Players using hacks and mods to "make the game playable."
People been getting hacked in this game sense release. Now it seem they found a better way to hack you and i'm guessing does not matter if you have a token or not. Seeing how they hacked you while playing lol. SE datacenter been mess up sense release if someone can use cheat engine to get any item in the game they want. Then is it hard to believe that all the people been hacked was just SE issue and not the players? I'm sure some people got hacked by going to rmt site and checking there email and clicking on fake SE emails. But i'm sure most of it is due to SE system being mess up.
I hope they get fix and people get there gil back or this game going to lose a lot of players.
1st off i did not lose any gil but people close to me did, i do hope you all get reimbursed and can continue to play this great game!
On another note though, SE should follow-up on this opportunity. i mean its like some kinda real Thieves struct at peoples money purses while in the marketplace, just like in a real MarketPlace!. if you had your gil in the bank(retainers) you were safe. but if you had it on your self they came along and cut all the fat money purses and walked away none the wiser. This would make a great Story/quest or something. Just saying.
Have fun all ! see yuo in-game
What in the fuh?!... This is seriously messed up. SE you've got to stamp these fools (RMT) out while you still can.
They have, thats why maintenance was performed early last night, and why they didn't tell anyone it was going to be done early so that the Frauds couldn't escalate the hack further. Their IP address have been found and SE is taking legal actions against them. all people who have been effected by this will be contacted in-game by a GM to see about reimbursements
Oooh Legal Action....sounds scary...
/not
No, I mean they need to get a handle on this stuff in its entirety. There are still accounts being hacked, there are still RMT'ers spamming in shouts and tells and there are still a plethora of bots all over the place. In my opinion, they need to stop allowing these hackers/botters/RMT'ers to go around so the STF can follow the crumbs and have their big "sting" operation. They need to implement a zero tolerance policy ASAP, start doling out mass IP bans and squash these peoples accounts for good.
Did you play XI? The economy was at a point where legit players couldn't afford to buy anything because RMT completely ran the show. Leaping Boots were like 2 million gil. O. Kote were like 8 million gil. On top of that, you had to deal with claim bots. RMT screwed that game up big time for a good while. Either way, it doesn't really matter. This situation is pretty insane, and trying to make excuses for SE is foolish.
I have a token and am on PC for the record. Also I don't see why you risk squat by being online. Just do not go near the summoning bell in town by markets. I don't recall but it is either when you are near it or actually click on it that you'll either lose your money or get an error message about not having enough gil to make a transaction.
Yep, still do actually - The only time the economy got screwed up was in 2005 when they sold 1 million gil per $1. That hurt the economy for awhile but players basically requiring you to use Fill mode and clipper which hurt the actual gameplay because they can Pos hack, run through walls and flee to almost every NM (and players, end-game specifically used claim bots too, remember Nasa and its drama?) and such inside and outside of Abyssea (when it got really widely used) was more detrimental to the game than what the RMT did to it. Which is why I said I get what you meant but SE took care of the RMT situation in XI just fine, meaning they'll get a handle on it here, but players ruined XI much more than RMT did.
Rusty Fishing was done by everyone in the know how, also, the Tavanazian Panty resell? Yeah that wasn't RMT. No one is making excuses for SE but simply saying it's not just RMT hurting these games and at the least SE will handle the RMT situation and hopefully quick.
Economic crash inc...
Not really. You'd have to be able to crack the encryption in real time regardless of the keys/session tokens. I don't believe that any RMT operation is going to invest what they'd have to in order to do that, just so they could inject fraudulent transactions that would easily be traced once detected.
That said, it is possible to do more to secure their database queries/transactions for this game, and they should do it. Even if a determined group of hackers or the NSA could crack the encryption or authentication information used, greater security would foil all but those most determined attacks.
Is this confirmed 100% fixed?
Its entirely possible that the server Ez played on was hit worse than the server Tupsi played on. I know on Titan we got rocked pretty hard by the RMT market crash. It got so bad that no one could afford anything. Three very bad months ensued. I have to say though, this "hack" is way worse than anything I have ever encountered on any other MMO, besides Ragnarok which I played way back in 2000. For something like this to even happen...
Yesterday, I was sprinting to reach where the Lv 49 enemies live in Gridania, it suddenly disconnected at 12:18AM. I thought it was supposed to be 1:00AM, not 12:00AM. So I exited it before it disconnect with another error. So I decided to check another board and looked around. The next thing I knew is everyone were affected by someone caused this much confusion. They lost their Gils during logging. I was surprised and felt very worrying about the hacker can do anything to my game... even their games. So now that was a huge emergency maintenance this day. SE and the Dev team are trying to investigate the attack and resolve the worst situation. I fear that this game may be not be safe for all of us.
Regarding the debate whether it was RMT or a player did this... considering one of the npcs people were being forced to buy from was called 'supermarketsweep' that indicates the latter, or a RMT criminal taking a particularly cruel sideswipe at their victims. Smacks of an organised criminal ring though, given all servers were hit pretty much simultaneously with the attack.
Omg, this is a serious problem. My question is, why only asian made game are easily hacked like this. I played mmorpg called ragnarok online before and it suffer gruesome hack also. I mean, why?? its SE for sake, not some random korean game company
I heard him saying that in his little black boy voice, and then I was like "That's racist!". But I heard it in the little black boy voice, I then proceeded to have that loop through my head for about 5 minutes.
Though I didn't immediately think he was Bill Cosby, so that's progress.
Any word on how to get our lost monies reimbursed? Maybe I missed the notice... Do we have to contact a GM in game? Will SE mail us our lost money?
