like i said in my edit before I actually do work with 3D graphics and animation programs so when i say that taking something that's already in the can and altering it takes a butt-load less time to do I know what i'm talking about on a professional level.

OP I'm not sure what game you're playing but so far for a launch there is quite a bit of content (and it actually has substance). If you want loads and loads of content however meaningless it is like GW2 go play that. More content will come.

I don't know when I log in I am swamped with things I can do.

i dont know if lack of content is the right word, but ever since hitting end game I found out I have to run the same dungeon millions of times. The problem I have is seems when I walk into the dungeon ill know ill walk out with just some extra tombs and thats it. While back on wow release I preferred how random the drops could go, and how you never knew what would drop from the bosses to gear your character. Also preferred wow raid dungeons over cm borefest.

The leveling is where I have the biggest issue, seems everything is just fate grind, and even the quests seem without any real substance. So Im struggling to find the motivation to level another 50 in a game that kind of makes you due to cross skills.

However aside the negativity, theres a lot I like about the game, such as the crafting, HQ's, the primal fights (even though theres no real incentive to do them), duty finder, linkshells, retainers, market boards, etc.

Anyway just my take on it all.

A MMO that is "finished" is not a MMO worth playing.

"White Knights" are people that fanatically defend something so precious to them that they subconsciously ignore any flaws it might have in order to prevent their beliefs from being exposed as delusions.

Every person has the right to complain about what they think is a problem, if you truly believe without a doubt that their complaints are ignorant ramblings then by all means you also have the right to reply and offer your insight. Coming into a post just to attack people for having different preferences than you doesn't help, if anything it only makes you sound a lot like a white knight.

White Knight - Someone who comes to another person's defense (usually a girl) online, despite having no relationship with said person. They will defend people regardless of circumstances in a desperate attempt to "impress" them.

Fanboi - Someone who defends a company or product at all times, despite its flaws and no matter how severe said flaws may be. They are convinced the company/entity can do no wrong and take any criticism as a personal insult to themselves.

Whoa, a reference to Altered Beast, talk about old school! 20 years later and I still mimic that part of the game once in a blue moon.

Lots of whine on this thread and no real commitment or ideas to solve the seen problem.

What I have seen so far personally are these points.


1) Content is running out, and there should be more content than just end game content, not all of us wish to grind dungeons endlessly for tokens, this is silly and and I want nothing to do with a job outside my job. Thank you very much.
2)End game is just the basic hamster wheel, there must be more variety to progression and character advancement, I am not asking for an easier faster way to get tokens, just different ways to acquire the gear to run the end game. I can safely say that I am not the only one tired of doing endless WP/AK and CM for tomes.
3) Crafting is pretty much useless for end game, this must be fixed ASAP.
4)RMT has not been fixed, I have not (and I am not exaggerating on this) have seen another P2P game with so much RMT advertising as this one, it is not OK and it should not be tolerated at this point, enough time has passed for a countermeasure to be put in place.

I do enjoy ff14 and despite its flaws I can find no lack of reason to keep on playing, but the issues must not be lessened by our love for the game au contraire we should bang our fists and make remarks at every turn regarding these issues.

Well, I miss normal quest in end game...

And you're also talking about an MMO that was released over 10 years ago. We got FFXI in the US when Zilart was released, so to the US that was the offical release for us. And even that had NM's to hunt. Old FFXI was good times, i miss it. :(

Oh no, it is not. I promise. We use food for every attempt in coils and some use potions. Also many are having vanya, etc. crafted.

Umm... Sorry, but logic doesn't work that way. You can't say that FFXI had more endgame content at launch because the US launched with Zilart. Endgame for "vanilla" FFXI was most likely camping Serket (if he was even in the game at launch).

People are also conveniently ignoring how FFXI's endgame content REALLY was like even after Sky and Dynamis were added to the game. This was FFXI's endgame content for years:

- 2 dynamis runs per week
- Camping kings if they were in your time zone.
- Doing Sky and getting bottlenecked on Ullikummi.

Note how:
- Dynamis forced you to wait 72 hours before being able to enter again;
- how Kings were not always available to do
- how doing Kings more often than not meant standing around for hours with only having something to do for 30 seconds every 30 minutes.
- there was also a very big chance that you didn't even get to fight Kings even if they were in your time zone due to being outclaimed (unless your linkshell botted, then I guess you got to do them regularly).
- how camping Ullikummi was simply horrible (though you could farm the other triggers semi-reliably at least).
- even camping NMs usually meant standing around not doing anything.

This is what some people in this thread are calling a lot of endgame content. EDIT: The truth is that FFXI didn't have a lot of endgame content, what it had was a lot of drawn out content that you had to wait a long time before being able to repeat.

ARR could actually replicate this by imposing lockouts on the current endgame dungeons. They could also transform Ifrit, Garuda and Titan into kings if they wanted to (make it like the sandworm in FFXI). But do people really want this? You complain about DF timers while clamoring for content where you stand around doing nothing?

I haven't reached endgame content in ARR yet, but I can see that we obviously need more things to do. What I have a hard time with is with people saying that there's nothing to do in the game (because they ignore content) while reminiscing on the good ol' days of FFXI's endgame (I was there, it took a very long time for FFXI's endgame to get good, where you actually had stuff to do every day instead of being stuck in the Aery for hours staring at flies).

Just one final point that I feel the need to mention: I think its completely ridiculous that there's a guy in this thread saying that BC is useless because it doesn't have any story, while at the same time I've seen him clamoring for Sky, as if Sky had a story. Well, unless you call the one-liners that the gods gave story.

WoW did not have PvP when first release... It came like a year later. Reference.

People labeling others that dont agree with them a white knight do it because they have no logical reason to explain why they think or feel the way they do. The easiest way to get out of explaining yourself or backing up your claim with a source is to throw the attention back on the person who doesn't agree with your argument.

Your history is a little foggy.

BRD and LBRS were never considered "endgame". I'd compare them more to Darkhold and Aurum Vale, respectively.

Other than that, there was UBRS, Stratholme (just the undead one), and Scholomance. MC and Onyxia were added with the first major patch. The only PvP was open-world PvP. And I for one am glad this game doesn't have that.

I agree with the OP...There is not alot to do unless you want to sit and craft or gather all day...that is not my idea of fun....I want to play content and not "side games"...becasue that is really what crafting is...a side game. All I have to do right now is grind AK/WP for Phil/Myth to gear for Titan...then after beating him i will get to grind some more for Relic weapon and then grind some more for Relic +1...then only Coils remain and yeah...that is not a lot of content IMO. I did not rush...averaged about 2 hours a day and some days much more....but not rushing at all. Not everyone wants to level all classes to 50 so that is not fun to us...we like the JOB we picked.

Let's be completely honest here...SE screwed up because Crystal Tower was SUPPOSE to be in this content set. This was suppose to be the area to get Ilv 80 gear to gear for Coils from until we got Ilv90 stuff. Everyone is starting out playing Coils at a disadvantaged right now unless the pre-grind and gear with AF2 before going in...that is why it is so hard...everyone is way undergeared. We are missing content so please do not give SE a pass on this...they are the reason for this type of crappy end game right now....oh and by the way Turn 5 is broken...right...so that cannot even be done to get your Allagan weapons...
The grinding was put in to slow everyone down plain and simple and to make it feel like there was more content than there really is just because it takes a hell of alot of time to gear in Full DL unless you have no job and no family.
Rant over...I still love this game but please don't say there is tons of content becuase there is not.

I disagree that it seems unfinished.

There is defiantly content that gets a player from start to endgame without any jarring missteps. The content in this path is riveting and exciting, especially the story which pulls you in and keeps you there for its entirety.


After the main story ends and you have a level 50 character, there IS content to keep a player occupied. The fact that it is debate-ably sparse is irrelevant to whether or not the game feels 'complete' in my definition - as there is no one right now that can attest to having finished it legitimately.

What it lacks is variety, which comes typical in an Launch MMO's endgame. I do also disagree with the linear nature of the current endgame which keeps players tredmilling down pretty much identical paths in order to progress, but that disagreement against does not disqualify the game as 'complete' it's a merely a criticism of its initial release.

If you're playing intensely then I can see the reason for burn-out, especially if you are foregoing all player-generated content. This is why the casual player is faring so much better than the avid endgame player on average. I have a feeling this trend will actually continue until perhaps halfway between the first and second expansion, when the endgame gains enough variety for players to make a choice how they will progress, and be able to distract oneself between progression leaps.

However, at the tip of endgame, there will always be a treadmill waiting for you - this is why so many veterans and casuals alike warn players not to rush during release times.


Edit: Crystal tower is irrelevant to the discussion, honestly as it only adds a few steps to the treadmill itself.

Its funny you say that because...you just yelled at him basically for having an opinion of his own lol. There is so much hypocrisy on these threads its unreal.The reason most people don't like or want posts like these is because as a whole the game is successful, populated, and fun for MOST people playing it. Hence why it still has nearly 1 million people logging in.even if HALF those people left...the game would still be successful. But posts like this breed negativity about the game when its only your or a few people's opinion and it affects the games future users from even giving it a chance. There is a suggestion forum if you would like to go there and post ideas on what you think they should add if you are bored, or take something out if you think its broke. But putting in the general forums that the fail and unfinished, when its just merely your opinion that of the 300 things to do for people you only like 4 of them so the game didn't release with enough content in your mind.

Or get this people that say they are bored want more actual content and variety. Pushing buttons to craft? Not fun. Speedrunning the same dungeons over and over? Not fun. Doing the same motions over and over again all day in a videogame? Not fun. This game is so boring it can make your eyes bleed.

Neckbeards just can't see the light because they live in this game.

That being said the game is successful. Some people just need to know when to back off. This game is hard to back off and the problem is the content doesn't agree with that.

- no pvp system (integral part of mmos, keeps people entertained and social)
- no way for alts to get the best gear (2 years of coil later..)
- no vanity system (because you're worth it)
- no need for a FC (LS's, fate groups, easily level your own FC)
- no inventory management (click all the things)
