I just don't get why they keep picking a one-trick comic relief NPC with a generic player model to represent XI when they have nearly 20 other great story NPCs to choose from.
I'm still mad she exists in Dissidia ahead of Zeid, Volker, Lion, Aldo, Trion, Ajido-Marujido, Gilgamesh, Prishe (prior to 012), Selh'teus, Aphmau, Luzaf, Lilisette, the Shadow Lord, Kam'lanaut, Eald'narche, Promathia, Lilith.... There are even a bunch of other NPCs with generic models but far more importance like Naja, Raubahn, or Tenzen. I mean really.
No it isn't, that suggests that the WoW core gameplay is defining of the genre and it is not. I have played many mmos and a number of which felt distinctly not like WoW but this most certainly does. I don't hate WoW but this is definitely modeled after it (especially apparent when you consider Yoshi P's comments about WoW when developing 2.0).
And Maat. If anything either Tenzen or Maat should be among those characters representative of XI, not Shantotto. She was just an extremely arrogant, annoying and super rude little shit, and was only involved in but a few sidequests and a couple of storyline quests in ToAU and WotG.
I don't think Shantotto would be very happy if I started calling her MY minion. /panic
I'm not going to lie, having to fight Maat would have been damn cool. Especially if he job changed through all the jobs in XI and used the two hours.
The games in the main series are all different worlds, same universe, connected through the void - that's how Gilgamesh has shown up in so many places.
And a Shantoto minion? A thousand times, yes. I've been saying since the Lightning fate was announced, I'm fine with it as long as they keep doing more events like it from throughout the series.
