Poll: Gear Tabs (Are you content with needing multiples of the same items?)

huh? then unequip your rings from your goldsmith and equip them on weaver whenever you change to weaver and do the other way around when change back to goldsmith? i dont get what the problem is at all...? isnt unequipping and equipping gear a part of the game? or maybe i just dont understand what "gear set" is...

Why would i need 4 rings when i can just requip the same 2 rings whenever i change class...?

we don't NEED multiple of the same item... if you want to have the SAME gear on multiple class sets then you "need" it, but why would you want that if the unused gear set doesnt have any effect on you except saving you 2 seconds requipping gear when changing class... Unless you're really lazy to make 3 mouse clicks... ( > . >

The example I used was to stress the current way the gear tabs system is set up... It's common sense that you don't "need" multiple items to change gear manually, but on the other hand if you want to have two of the same item in two gear tabs you would (currently) need two of the same item. The fact that you can still change gear with out a gear tab is irrelevant. The point of this thread is to explain how the current gear tab system works, and gather feedback on the subject. Along with many others, I personally think this is a bad design considering gear tabs are supposed to be for convenience.

Well, since the people who make this game spend all of their time doing just that, making it, and never actually playing it (I suspect, or very little at least) bad ideas like this creep up all the time because their often in the dark about what players really want. That's why they actively review the forums and other community sites.

Yoshida probably figures, "well we've existed with out gear tabs up until now, and it was a cool idea, but it turned out to be a lot of work making it so you can put the same items in more than one tab, so I'm not going to bother with it unless people really bitch." - That's just my speculation.

I'm sure you can get a second Explorer's Ring if you have your first Explorer's Ring on your body or in a gear set. Like currently after you put your first Explorer's Ring in your basaar for repair, it would be outside of your inventory and you can get a second ring.

But I don't like that I need to farm darklight more then once if I want to safe inventory slots.
I hope we get a macro to put a gear from one gear set to another gear set without to put it in the inventory first.

Well, since gear doesn't count toward inventory space I guess it doesn't matter how many pieces we have. And needing more would stimulate the economy.

So I'm okay with it... but I'll see.

EDIT: I'm speaking from my perspective here. I only play primarily 3 classes, WHM, BLM, and WAR, and there's no duplication in the gear that I use.

However, this would be highly annoying for someone who played 3 DD classes and it could get more annoying for those players as time went on as they would have to change gearsets and macros every time they got a new piece of gear.

If you really cant stand requiping a few items that you share between classes then i guess you should go out of your way and get copies of those items. I know im just fine with it and will take me a second to equip those rings after changing class (so far rings are the only items i share between classes, otherwise i have a set for each class pretty much)

How i see it - gear sets is mainly for class specific gear (which is probably most gear you're going to wear anyway). for gear you want to use in multiple classes, just requip after changing class like in the current system.

I wouldn't want that. That's why I made this thread. As for class specific gear... I use almost every single one of my pieces of gear on more than one class.

well i believe shared gear will slowly disappear, it was an armoury system thing... Now that jobs are added, more and more gear is more and more job specific... I think thats the road SE is taking anyway

I guess its just not a concern for me since i have different set for each class but good luck with that for you if you share all your gear with all classes...

If the concern from the OP is correct, its about the rare/ex items. Do you have several pieces of darklight or other rare/ex stuff for all of your classes? i guess not.

... It doesn't seem like they're getting rid of the Armoury system, considering that ACN/SMN keeps it.
