Commendation Beggars

I only comm ppl who deserve it, there are already enough mentors who shouldn't be mentor as it is and if someone asks for a comm it's an instant dodge.

You could objectively be the best member on our team, but the moment you beg for the commend it's like you've flipped a switch and now I'll give it to the worst player out of spite instead.

Are you guys more or less likely to give out a commendation to someone if they specifically make a point to ask for it at the end of a duty?

Personally (and ESPECIALLY if they tack on a <se.#> like in the screenshot), asking for commendations makes me less likely to actually commend. The person in this was a tank that was pretty chatty and friendly, but asking for the commendation after the fact just made it all feel fake.

if you need to ask, you're bad. What's more, after 3k it's useless, and the fat chocobo is still ugly.

It's probably to get Mentor up to speed. I'm usually insensitive to that, you'll get it if I can see you stand out from the crowd. And often, you're stuck with low Dps or heals that die at every boss.

If you haven't done shit, you've got at least 1 except with tourists who have already left without even a macro “Bye”.

And it's not too hard to get 3 in Tank/Heal and at least that in Raid 8.

I genuinely cannot remember the last time I got one. I'm friendly in groups. I'm the first "hello." I will actually talk to you instead of being an anti-social weirdo, but even when I tank, heal, or actually do good dps, it doesn't matter. Nothing. Now I don't have all the coms I need for that mount. After 11 years, I think I have close to 2k. It's more like 1700 or 1800. I honestly can't remember, but anymore everyone has a case of the zoomies when those dungeons end. So I don't really have a chance at getting them or giving them. So it's like a slow burn in the background. But I've never begged for them. I just want more social party members. That's more important to me than some number on my character screen.

I will comm melee or tanks who stuncancel attacks and ranged who LB trash mobs. Those are the only things I'll bother opening the commendation menu for.

I just comm players that don't have a mentor symbol by their name. After getting all the achievements for comms there worthless. I have never seen one beggar but once I did hear mentor saying once if want to become one you need an ungodly amount of them.

Perform well and you will get my comm, begging for it in an annoying way will make me not comm you.
That mentor crown isn't special.

I've seen too many Mentor Crowners in my parties that don't do that thing, Mentoring. I'm often left to teach players, and I don't even have a crown. Close to 1K Commendations now--Without trying.

The secret to getting them is simply NOT being an NPC that sometimes grumbles and says "GG"

I would give it to them if they did their job and didn't act like jerk, I rarely give them to begin with.

You get a comm from me if:
>Instance happened without an itch, with nobody talking and you happen to be the one I choose to comm
>you are a nice person and talking to you is fun
>you have a cool or funny glamour / portrait
>you did a really cool thing like for example in M4 normal, the SMN who rez'd a healer right before dying during final phase so that they could heal LB 3 (great save again btw!)
>if it's your first time in an instance (not always though, considering the above factors)

You don't get a comm from me if:
>you were unpleasant
>it's end game content or current expansion content, you already did them and you keep failing mechanics
>you beg for comms
