Commendation Beggars

Just a quick question since I've been noticing this more and more as DT has progressed.



Are you guys more or less likely to give out a commendation to someone if they specifically make a point to ask for it at the end of a duty?

Personally (and ESPECIALLY if they tack on a <se.#> like in the screenshot), asking for commendations makes me less likely to actually commend. The person in this was a tank that was pretty chatty and friendly, but asking for the commendation after the fact just made it all feel fake.

I remember seeing this a lot during HW and SB. But I usually don't stick around long enough to see people begging for comms anymore.

Cant say I ever saw something like it. And I can safely say the person who does say it will definitely not get my com.

I only commend people with cool portraits and/or cool glam

I've personally never see this. I can only imagine they want the mount you get from achievements for getting XXX commendations.
If someone asks for it. I see no reason not to toss it their way.

Anyone begging for commendations gets NOTHING from me. Seriously fewer things could be more pathetic.

Commendations are for those who left a lasting impression on me. Skilled players who saved the party, people playing their job exceptionally well despite the lacking efforts of other party members. They're the ones who deserve the commendations.

Personally, in uneventful parties I tend to go for nicest glam/cool name DPS.

Hey, seeing how much the entertainment sectors are generally suffered because it seems every next person is a try hard, or blow hard, or pretender of some kind ... I appreciate the days when we were all simple and shallow with the things that can entertain us.

Part of asking me to give you a commendation is asking me not to give a commendation to the other players. So there's a risk of such a request coming off as grabby, childish, or selfish. And if it feels like that, I'm probably less likely to give you the commendation.

That said, I imagine if a player had been really enjoyable to play with and found a kind and humble way to ask for a commendation at the end, that might sway me to give it to them instead of another player in the same group that I also really enjoyed playing with. Like maybe if they were like "I'm 10 comms away from finally earning my (insert reward here), so if you enjoyed playing with me, I hope you'll consider me for a commendation!" Maybe.

But truthfully, the best way to ask for a commendation is to just be enjoyable to play with. Putting effort towards your glam, your portrait, and your friendly banter will go so much further towards making me want to commend you than holding your hand out and saying "comm pweese!"
