It always boils down to all the facets of the game they axed and how barebones they have made the battle system today. It just doesn't offer any specific and important/mandatory niches to fill anymore for the role to be relevant in its current state. The only way to make it relevant in the current system is to make it like any other DPS, with average support tools and a good dps output. It sucks for identity, but that's the sad reality of the current battle system that doesn't accommodate anything else.

MCH is an ADPS job though, it's personal DPS should be higher than BRD and DNC (which it is).

As a machinist main, I hope they do - In fact I hope they lock out all Phys Ranged. It's at some point will get to the fact that the measly 1% us phys ranged poop out for existing wont be worth it and its better to bring another picto or rez caster. either give the phys ranged role more damage or make it an actual support role, currently its stuck in purgatory of neither in comparison to other jobs (the major outlier here is picto - yoship's new love).

If I was armchair yoship for the day, I'd give all phys ranged classes a rez and potentially one additional support related cd (also give machinist a raid buff) and remove the rez function from smn for more damage (unsure about rdm I'd say yes remove it but not sure how rdm mains would take losing their rez for better damage).

Giving a rez and additional support would make sense on the damage scaling.

Please reduce the cool down of Barrel Stabilizer from 120 seconds to 60 seconds. More America button, and more Hypercharge with no potency adjustments.

Ugh. The truth is, yes MCH is very undertuned, but it's more a result of how overturned PCT is (DNC and BRD are so much higher because of PCT), (that and MCH struggling with gauge management in this specific fight). Not to mention, its a very small sample size, PLUS the fact that a sizeable amount of those MCH clears they have at least one personal death in, each. MCH will likely remain at the bottom, but it will even out slightly.

I also think that to put so much stock into the meta if you arent racing for world first is truly silly. Locking out MCH from pf when it performs fine in pug groups just shows they don't know what makes BRD and DNC so powerful. If you aren't clearing it's likely not because of your MCH alone, there are probably much bigger issues.

This reflects pretty well all jobs that are bad at downtime management. For instance, MCH, while able to pool and store a lot of resources, is totally helpless during downtime because it cannot hit any targets. DNC is in a similar state and at best can precast dances and I'm actually surprised that Improv never got to fill up gauge slowly. Only BRD does have some downtime tools, namely songs that continue to fill up repertoire even if there is nothing to hit.
