They told in advance that they won't change the relic progression. Why are you surprised about it now?

I have been hoping for something slightly more involved, but I'm not too upset about the tomes. My only hope, minor as it may be, is that final stage will have a side option of doing V/C dungeons for it, in addition to the tomes option (I can see why they chose against tying tomes into V/C before there was a variety but by 6.55 there will be three of them, so it might work).

Next expansion, the relic quest will just give you the relic just by talking to the NPC.

Yoshi being vague made me hope they'd do anything other than tomes. Light farming, or something. I originally said it was too early to judge in the previous step, but as I said in this thread: I'm eating all those words now. Just a shame, but I've got nothing else really. Taking the L, eating my words, "losing the argument" or whatever you wanna call it, yeah, I'm okay taking it.

With all the crazy stuff Godbert does in the Hildebrand quests, you'd think the devs would have us perform similar feats in order to obtain and upgrade each of our relics.

A few months ago, when the prior step of the relic came, I said we shouldn't give up on the relic quest being more involved, because it was too early to judge. I hoped they would implement another kind of adventure for us to upgrade the weapon. I seriously had faith they would, so I made those statements. If you really want you can go dig on my comment history, but 6.45 just proved I was wrong, and that people concerned with the "just tomestones" thing were actually in the right.

The other guy is basically acting like having less and bad content is a gotcha against you when you are making a perfectly valid point

I doubt Light Farming or anything actually requiring you to play specific job to progress/earn that job's relic is ever coming back. It was done away with as early as Stormblood and was seen as absolute win by vast majority of playerbase.

Oh, alright. No harm then, I was confused. Apologies if I came across as a bit rough.

I feel the forums are usually more about antagonizing other members than reaching middle grounds, and because it was just tomestones, I just wanted to take the L and move on. Some may say my faith was misplaced, and... maybe? I've been playing since 2013, so I've seen every iteration of the Relic live as it happened. I was just.. hoping. If you ask me, I'd take Anima or Bozja as the better two versions game-wide. The Zeta weapons are still awful, and Eureka felt a bit too bloated, and I say this as someone who enjoys Eureka, and is a proud owner of an Elemental set of armor and the Ozma mount.

Also.. dunno, I guess I always prefer to see the glass half full? But that's more a personal thing.
