Local Levees - The Bastard Stepchild of FFXIV

I think you're just doing it wrong. There are websites you can go to that list all the leves possibly available in city within a certain level range (yg is one example). Use them to figure out which city you need to be in (or just use the city that the guild is in). Generally there are 1-3 city leves per town....on average you'll have 1 or 2 that are the leve you want them to be. If they aren't there, reset leves and look again. It should also be noted that failing a leve resets them, and abandoning a leve will prevent you from getting that leve again for quite a while. You should never have to leave the town you're in. Just spam the city leves within your level range and you should have no problems. Occasionally it wont give you *any* leves at all, so do a lower level leve to reset and look again. Should be no issues, ive lvled all my crafts through local leves.

I think its cuz local leves are requested by citizens, and regional leves are requested by factions. I dont think they pertain to location, but the source of the request.

You know what I haven't seen referenced? How the Brotherhood of the Broken Blade, The Horn and the Hand or the Shields factions fit in with the grand companies and whats going on now...

I was thinking about this the other day.

We had factions - they ignored them and made grand companies
We have guild marks - they ignored them and made grand company seals. (then deleted Gm's)

Redundancy much ?

That doesn't really make much sense to me, local means near by, they should have just called them crafting leves. [/surprised]

To add to the OP though... do the dated recipes in leves still require support after 1.21?
CUL I'm looking at you... I hated that
whats worse... if a recipe was 20 and required support, and you were level 45... you could do it just fine without support... except for CUL... a recipe could be 10 cul and you could be a 50 Culinarian and struggle if you don't have support

Unless there is some hidden meaning this means they will add recipes where they are lacking in certain level ranges, and to eliminate the old recipes they will have to replace the dated recipes in the leve with new recipes. As the level that much of the gear is made has changed this will necessitate that they re-think which items go in which leves at each level. For example 'dated velvetine shirts' that were appropriate for a 40 leve pre-1.19 are now level 20 - 30. They will have to completely rethink what items match which quests. Yes I suppose they could completely ignore that carpenter gets 0 level 50 leve and leatherworker gets 3 level 50 leve while they rework things, but that would be asinine and I think they have more sense than that. All of these changes show they know its broken. It just isn't their number 1 priority as opposed to say jobs and AF.

I have yet to read anything that says they are removing craft leve from the game.

This post was made after a series of threads were started in frustration at the imbalance in the way the local levequest system works. It addresses the need to replace the dated recipes in levequests with new ones, and balance out the availability of leve at certain levels. It also lays out the timeline for implementation. Other than 1.22 she doesn't mention patches by number, but as long as she is referring to major patches the fixes will be in 1.22, 1.23, and 1.24. If they are removing old recipes in 1.24 then either 1.23 or 1.24 must contain new levequests that use the new recipes.
