Also, I'd love to be able to play with the friends that recently rejoined the game, who got seperated from me due to the datacenter shuffling.

I imagine there might be ping issues if the connections go between the regions (Europe, NA and Asia), but having parties for duties being formed between Datacenters within a region should work well enough though.
