There is a problem with that. How do you compensate for housing items bought in the cash shop? That could get very sticky if SE tried anything without an option to refund the player's money. Even then with how poor the cash shop is with billing and such I still see a real mess.

How is an alt a 2nd class character? And why is my alt that I leveled and geared and worked my butt off for worth less than any other character?

They wouldn't be immune to the rule. It would apply to them as well since the rule is about purchasing houses, and they won't be able to purchase anymore that what they already own.

I feel you've contradicted yourself there.

Yes you CAN do everything on one character, but SE also sell a subscription package that allows up to 8 character per world. If that's isn't encouraging the use of additional characters, then why have that option at all?

You just made me think, what about players that specifically bought jump potion to get the level 50 requirement for personal housing as well. Agree completely it'd be a real mess!

Alts are always 2nd class characters, that the point of them being being an Alternate characters.

I feel that's a personal categorisation though. Apart from this new restriction additional characters have always been able to do exactly the same things as the "first" character.

Heck a lot of us probably have "alts" that are more levelled/geared than a lot of peoples only character.

I started saving for new housing since last year during HW, I saved up 30m specifically for these houses over that time and I don't feel like my entire year of effort, and beyond that, and now all my work can be compensated because people think its unfair I got a plot for my free company and personally? they are adding new stuff, they are most like going to restrict it, but taking away from people who worked hard with the system that was in place? Doesn't seem smart, I have an entire halloween and christmas themed house, I spent so much on, and having to choose between my shirogane style house and that isn't why I saved up all that money and used all that time. Sorry to rant just saying this isn't about people hoarding, I'm not sure why they cant send in staff members in game to look at who is actually hoarding plots or not, yeah it'll take time but it'll really be worth it to use the companys time to see who is cheating the system rather waste peoples time who didn't.

While I can agree that taking houses from people who spent real money on housing items raises some thorny problems, I would not lump jump potions into the same category. The only solution I see for this is giving all alts on the same world access to the house/fc house you own (something SE should do anyway, imho,) so that you can still use the items you purchased.

Not to sound cold, but the reason why someone bought a jump are immaterial- they paid to get their char to 50 and nothing else, SE has fulfilled their obligation once that char hits 50. People who bought potions aren't guaranteed a house any more than they are a raid slot with an FC once they jump.

I have 6 alts on Brynhildir, 4 of which have small houses. I would be fine with having to get rid of 3 but only if Houses automatically become shared estates with server alts. Meaning, if I can only have 1 private estate per server per service account then all the characters I posses on that server under the same service account need to have full access to that 1 private estate. That is the only way this would then be fair for everyone.

I know multiple people who have "alts" so they can be on multiple raid teams. I know others that have "alts" so they can have all the crafting specializations. You can put your heart and soul into more than just one character. I get sad when I realize I've been spending more time on one character than some others. I honestly feel like I'm neglecting my "alts" when that happens. To me it doesn't matter if the alt is level 1 or level 70, I don't think of any of them as second class characters.

Sadly your definition, my definition or any other player's definition of what is an alt doesn't matter. SE get to decide this, not us.
