As an aside, I can't help but note that whenever anybody offers suggestions for male glamour there's a rush of players - often those who do not even play male characters themselves - swooping in to shoot the idea down. Yet those same players will rush into threads requesting things like Edda's outfit to be added as soon as possible to offer their full support.

If something as detailed as Edda's dress can be added I don't see how it's a stretch to add a cape - especially when there's already capes in-game. They don't even necessarily need to be 'flowing' either - some compromises in regards to the design could easily be made.

The idea that this game is stuck in a certain 'era' is also very flawed. It can't be medieval since there's futuristic, modern and steampunk themes present where gear design is concerned.

Not all those items are intended to actually exist in the game's lore. The Allagan weaponry is consistent with their prior Allagan designs.

That said, I don't really see any issues with the item the OP would like to see added. There's a lot of stuff for glamour purposes, like vampire outfits or Squall's outfits, already in the game. I also like capes a lot, especially the ones on the Esoteric sets from 3.x and in the DRG Ironworks set.

This. We have ruins from ancient eras that were in many ways more advanced than Eorzea is at present, and that's speaking only of Eorzea. A lot of the more Eastern themed things wouldn't have fit Eorzea alone but then we have Thaivnair and Doma and that adds so many design choices. With the Garlean empire spanning so much of the world that we haven't seen yet, don't bother the person making the design for lore - just like how people don't need to explain the lore when they submit designs to SE's official gear design contests. Let the dev team worry about that if they choose to add it to the game.

I kinda do wish they'd go ahead and up the requirements a bit, I mean the game is far behind where games up to the standard of 2017 technological capacities are, to say the least. Yes, it's common for MMOs to be this way and yes it will cost them some subs if they chose to revamp it. Ultimately they've already done this to cull PCs not up to the standard of the PS4 and I do wish they'd go a bit farther than that... however unlikely it may be. Idle wishing I suppose as they don't really have the sub count to justify it at present or the desire to take any real risks... but a little risk can pay off sometimes in terms of reward.

Then it shouldn't be considered very horrible of me to ask that a connection be made.

The whole "no capes" argument seems flawed, seeing as we have more than a few capes in the game already.

Honestly, with the wedding and best man's outfits in game already, as well as the scion's gear from the msq, Hildebrand and numerous other things, there are enough jackets around with no links to outside events or promotions that the argument that it doesn't fit the aesthetic of the game doesn't make a lot of sense.
