You remind me of a guy in a shop the other day when I was taking one unwanted present back (in original packaging and unopened) and he wouldn't take it back because the box was scratched lol...
ANYWAY...
I think even if a customer did activate wrong character by mistake, SE should be able to correct this to the player - it's called good customer service.
If they are worried about the playtime customer has gotten from the incorrect character, they can calculate the difference and deduct it from the time of the character they change to.
We are all humans, we all make mistakes... whether it is SE or the customer!!!
On my account a blank character slot was activated instead of my main... also contacted customer service. Wondering if it is worth all this hassle over $3. I've already lost 6 days of play time for the month I paid for, and 8 days is approximately $3 anyway. /annoyed
Now how is that possible from user, it has to be system glitch/issue for sure... unless only thing I can guess is you had a character before in that empty slot and deleted it since you didn't use it anymore and somehow the account still had a slot info or something weird like that...
hope all of you with these wrong account/slot problem gets it resolved soon.

Here is today's attempt to get this resolved. I was in the middle of asking to speak to a supervisor when he disconnected.

You: I chose the character I wanted. When I logged in on the day billing started, a different character was active. I chose Nightpanda Mandragoran on Figaro as the character I wanted to play. The character that was active when I logged in on billing day was Nightpanda Mandragoran on Selbina, which was created several days after I initially chose my character.
Agent Matt L: So who chose to reactivate the one on Selbina?
You: Nobody. My only conclusion is due to having the exact same name, the incorrect one was activated in your database.

Agent Matt L: Character reactivation is left up to user

@nightpanda that about figures from se support. this company is becoming a joke.
they charge people that have no way of paying because their payment system is pathetic and then can't even activate the correct character.
