Overheating should be capitalized, not ignored to make MCH fun

As it stands currently, the heat gauge is basically irrelevant and might as well not even exist anyway, it matters one time at the beginning of the fight where we have to use CD to avoid an overheat, otherwise it might as well not exist, and that is why the job is easy AND boring. Won't keep me from bringing it to prog though. :(

Nor should you.

They really did a number on the heat gauge though that's for sure. Went from engaging to boring.

The Overheat-system is too punishing at the moment. There could be a few things to make it a bit more interesting.

1. No Overheat any more
Well, that would take away the last bit of difficulty. You can reach 100 Heat, but you cant overheat. But even how much I hate Overheat, I dont want to remove this mechanic from MCH.

2. Barrel Stabilizer can be used during Overheat
If you could use BS even during Overheat, you have at least the chance to get back to 50 Heat, before Gauss Barrel fall off. That would make Overheat less punishing, if you dont wasted your BS before.

3. Overheat-Pulse
If you reach 100 Heat, your GB will overheat for 10s. Within this 10s you can use a new skill, which will do a lot of damage but drain your Heat to 0. You still got your GB equipped and can easily go back to 50 Heat with BS. The idea is to put this new skill into a Overheat-Wildfire and/or make Overheat a bit more rewarding.

On a similar subject, is the heat gauge slow to catch up or is there a CHANCE of increasing heat when using an ability that says it increases heat by 5?

I ask because I've often fired shots that should increase heat, but the gauge doesn't move.

Shots fired with the special ammo granted by Reload and Quick Reload do not generate heat. (This is listed on the tooltip for Reload, not the individual attack skills.)

Ah, okay.

I guess that's why Barrel Stabilizer is our best friend...

I was thinking along these lines. Instead of making a brand new attack, they could simply change the properties of Cooldown during overheat, to deal extra damage, remove the overheated status and put you back down to 0.

That would be also a great idea.

The problem of Overheat is, that you wont benefit from it. I mean, now its nearly impossible to overheat by accident. But even with Flamethrower and Barrel Stabilizer, Overheat is still a punishing mechanic. Its even worse on lower levels, when you dont have your Heat-managing skills. It doesnt make a huge difference (because you dont have your Heated combo), but its still annoying. To get back to 50 Heat without BS or FT is pain.
