This. If the rest of us didn't try and tell them how to play all the time, maybe they would, you know, still play at all.

Not necessarily. There is no skill involved with mindlessly Dark Art-ing 90% of your abilities as Dark Knight while Lilies are better ignored than thought about. Warrior and Dark Knight both lost combos, making them even more streamlined. That isn't rewarding skilled players. It's making the job easier at the expense of them. In fact, Cleric Stance was removed largely because it was a clunky ability yet they... added a variation of it to Warrior? One of the things I liked about Warrior is the smooth transition from stances. Now it's become cumbersome. So what exactly happened there?
Eh, I would get frustrated as a tank when a healer would just sit there and twiddle their thumbs when I clearly didn't need healing, but I never actually once told a healer that they should DPS more. I imagine JP players are the same in that they generally don't voice their frustrations, but it doesn't mean they're not frustrated.
I'm a 65 whm at this point and I am enjoying the expansion. I do pug, but there is a catch. If I'm doing a new dungeon or a dungeon with certain types of mechanics I only go into those with my bf (who is pld). I have vision issues and having certain things called out for me helps a lot. I've done endgame raiding in a few mmos with groups aware of this, so it's not necessarily a deal breaker, but I won't just jump in any old dungeon with strangers. I'd be doing both them and myself a disservice.
Multiple factors here.
New jobs are DPS, so there is a huge set of healer mains leveling DPS. Some former healer mains will inevitably become new Samurai or Red Mage mains.
New expansion with a ton of content to get through before hitting EX level. People are working through it at different paces.
And healer jobs being simplified and streamlined is turning some players off, which is another inevitable factor when anything about a job is changed by adding or removing skills, let alone when it happens to all of them.
If healers being the smallest subset of players becomes the new norm, raiders will adjust.
Well truth is its still early and a lot of ppl haven't leveled their healers lol just give it some time I'm currently leveling my AST now since my SAM is already 70....i love healer I didn't like it much in raising during HW for reason I won't say because it may cause an uproar lol
Probably because of the fact that 2/3 healers aren't very good at all and SE has failed to balance the healers for this expansion.
This right here for me. In ARR I ended as a WAR/WHM. In HW I went AST/WAR.
Now? I'm RDM. I can still heal in a pinch. I can rez. I can feed the actual healer mana after rezzing them.
I was RDM in XI until BLU came out, and it's looking more and more like I've switched to a dps main for SB. The next thing I level will be my tank, and I'm sure I'll level AST at some point, but I'm just not in a hurry with it. And quite a few of the healers in my FC are now RDM or SAM.
Still leveling mostly, though I'm probably going to skip doing EX stuff in the DF for the most part due to it generally being full of hair trigger dps' that are so blue balled by waiting in queues they think they can abuse everyone and any one for not facilitating their choice of class.
