22.7gb update after relogging?

I am from South Africa. Unfortunately, power outages are still a common occurrence for me.

I was still in the game when the power went off (Fringes completing FATES). So it may be a data corruption issue, BUT I have never had this problem during my whole time with ARR or HW despite also experiencing power outages while being logged in the game.

I was not in rest mode when the power outage occurred - but it seems some people on PS4 are experiencing this issue even when legitimately logging out of the PS4 and logging back in. I have just downloaded the 22gb update - waiting in the queue. I don't want to have to go through this painful experience again. Does anyone know whether this issue is being looked into? I know that there are other important issues plaguing early access right now, but it would be nice to know that this has at least been flagged for investigation.

I know the feeling... My city is "growing" really fast and I also have a lot of power outages, cause the expansion of the electric power lines... Is terrible...

I am having this issue as well. This did not happen yesterday whenever I logged out or even when my power briefly went out during a storm last night. I turned off my PS4 overnight and now this morning I have to wait 530+ minutes while it patches. :/

Yep, this has been happening to me too. 2nd straight day of downloading this ffxiv - H2017.06.06.0000.0001b patch which is 22.7 GB.

Now, I will say that the last 2 days I've had 2 brownouts lasting 1 second each time. It's hot outside after all. I expect the occasional brownout, but I certainly don't expect this nonsense with the patch downloads. Anyways, my PS4 was on and logged in the first time it happened. But today my PS4 was in rest mode. Judging from other comments, correlation is not causation since it has happened to people just closing the application or logging off?

Anyways, those are my experiences. After this crap downloads - again - I think I'll test it out by first logging off and logging back on to see if the download triggers again. Then I'll fully close the application and observe. Then I'll do a rest mode and observe and then I'll completely shut off the PS4 and then see if I get the same issue.

Why is Square silent on this as it seems to be affecting a non insignificant amount of people? This is FAR FAR FAR more frustrating than the server congestion and MSQ instance overloading everyone is getting. This is "I entirely quit my sub" territory until I get a concrete answer and solution to this bug. I'm wasting bandwidth on this crap that, as far as I know, isn't doing a thing as my total space on the HDD isn't changing for the FFXIV installation as before. More to that, I'm not in the game proper. At least with the instances congestion you can still do other stuff. Here I'm wasting time and bandwidth staring at a useless download :mad:

I've been having this issue for the third day in a row now, it makes me constantly paranoid to do anything because I'm afraid if the game logs out or loses power that I will have to redownload again, and I simply don't have the internet for it. I didn't lose power last night and that restarted it, however it originated for me the night before without any power outage that I no of. Please if anyone in Square is reading this we need help.

Yes. We rly need help. I think I will not play if I have to redownload again. I will wait until this is fixed, I cant play anything when im on the laucher, so my PS4 stay that way... downloading... T-T

I was hoping to post yesterday when I encountered this error as well, but it seemed the Lodestone didn't recognize that I had played for a few minutes the morning of, and wouldn't let me log in.

Anyways, I had encountered this as well. I will post the facts of my incident:

-Like mentioned, my PS4 was on rest mode when the power went out briefly.
-As usual, the PS4 did it's recovery thing and scolded me to not "turn off the power" bc it can corrupt data. (As if it thinks Im just willy-nilly pulling the power cable out of the wall, or regularly flipping my bedroom breaker switch)
-I did not have SB on standby mode. I had physically exited the game via the menu, and had closed application before putting my PS4 into standby mode.
-When I discovered that I had to reinstall all 22GB worth of patches, I went over to my storage and saw that there were 69GB worth of data on the HDD for SB.
-I attempted to do some hotfixes: restarting PS4, turning PS4 off/on, and reinserting the FFXIV Online disk. None worked.
-I pressed Options > Delete on the PS4 menu over the SB application and reinserted FFXIV Online disk to reinstall. Checked storage and found that SB was now only 11GB big :(
-After taking 9 hours to download the patches, I rechecked the storage, and it was back up to 69GB.....

So I want to assume that the patch data was indeed all there. All 22GB of it when it prompted me to redownload. However, I am guessing that due to the power outage, it somehow corrupted some file that lets the client know that we have all 22GB already installed.

For now, Im taking the safe route by
1) Exiting game via FF's in-game menu
2) Closing application once the client shows the log in screen
3) Turning PS4 off (not on safe mode)

same issue happened to my roomates who use PS4. (they were in the middle of playing the game)

We've been having frequent, random power outages over the last few days where I live and I fear it's only making the problem worse. I've not download the entire 22.7 gbs FOUR times and everytime lost everything. So far no one has been able to figure out a solution for us console players.
