Actually that is exactly what happens here. They occasionally set up check stops on roads that they feel people aren't driving within the rules to slow the traffic down. Not to just pick on the traffic example. I am sure people could come up with a lot of scenarios where governments don't trust people to behave and create rules and enforcement to stop them.

Not quite. You're talking about law enforcement (SE) taking the time to check people (following up reports, and/or looking at chat logs - which I'm aware they don't actually do) to ensure they're abiding the rules of the road. What I'm saying is they've effectively restricted all players from driving because a few people drove wrecklessly. So I say again, if you're doing the right thing and not breaking any rules, but then I decide to break them, why should YOU be punished for what I did?

Because if you're not the type of player that harrasses others or says mean things, you're bearing the brunt of those who are like that. Is that fair to you?

See that is the way I see some laws are made. Why can't I have an alcoholic beverage at the lake. Because some people got rowdy and no booze allowed. Why can't I sit in the box of a truck because some people weren't careful enough and died so now no one is allowed or suppose to. Rules and punishment feel like they come around from the few and society has to live with it.

Maybe I am looking at it the wrong way. But I will never legally get to have a drink at the lake again. If situations like this exists in real life why not virtual. Do I think people got a fair involvement in the creating of the system like they would have real life laws, no.

But instead of half a dozen give us chat back. A thread of phrases that would be better. Upvotes for what people would like to see and discussion on what might work better. Instead of fall back, Defensive lead. Just as people have said they have had months to respond the community had months to try to work within a system that was coming. This isn't 1.X where players matter. This is 3.0 and they will do what they please.

This isn't the same as laws. Laws can be broken. Nothing is -physically- stopping you from drinking at that lake. You could very well have it in a plastic water bottle, or a thermos. Who can tell?

This chat change is more like a straight jacket. You CANNOT speak, you CANNOT communicate. You won't get in trouble for doing it, you won't get punished for speaking, you simply CANNOT.

And nothing is stopping you from communicating certain things in the Feast either. You just cannot say "everything", but rather only the presets.

It's pretty hard to find an adequate RL comparison. One example would be an elevator - you can freely pick among the offered floors, but you can't pick any floors not offered. Or public transport - you may take any of the offered rides, but you can't take a ride outside of the offered times. Maybe a restaurant where you may only take one of the offered dishes instead of creating one yourself. That's probably the best example even, considering people are complaining the menu doesn't have all the dishes they usually like to eat (aka messages they want to convey).

They do not stop you driving completely, this would be like saying no one is allowed to have cars because too many broken laws, ban cars completely because people being ran over increased.

I take it back, it would be like giving cars to people with no drivers ed or tests, giving cars to people at some predetermined age like 18, drive, then when they get in a car accident they are banned from driving for life, that is how SE acts with pvp. There is no in game tips, there is no training, and you wonder why there may be some toxicity between new and old? I still had more issues in common DF though but SE is completely at fault for the PvP toxicity. They give no tools for people to learn in game.

People who say " it is a healers job to cast protect" are wrong, it is a CNR/WHMs job to cast it, not an AST or SCH since it is a cross-class skill that you don't necessarily have to take. What if I, as an AST, want to take aero instead of Protect, you don't pay my subscription so you can't tell me how to play my game.
