I get the feeling you haven't used spellcheck with foreign languages and fantasy terms/names much. Spell check at the level of most of these typos couldve given false positives and many false negatives. Most would have to be spelling and grammar checked by hand regardless.

Also aughter isnt exactly a typo either, it is in this case but the word itself is not.

While true, it is something that is... somewhat disheartening to see in a professional product. If it was some wiki or something then whatever, but a purchased item?

I don't know if you will read this, because this thread is already 6 pages long, lol, but I just wanted to say that I am SO IMPRESSED with the tome you helped create. It is amazing! I'm so happy that my husband decided to get it for me when he was in line. (He got in line for merch at 5am on Friday. O.o) I made sure to show the book to anyone who asked at FanFest, and every one of them were quite impressed! I'm just sad that I didn't get a chance to have you sign it! I was able to catch Toshio, and he signed it for me (he even approved the Japanese I was practicing for Yoshi-P!), but I am still missing so many signatures! I guess I will just have to come to the next FanFest and try again! ;)

P.S. After the concert with the Primals, I fear I am fan-girling over you a bit, lol. That concert was so amazing! Truly epic! Everyone did a fantastic job! :)

(Oh, and btw. My husband spent 4 hours of our 6 hour car-ride home pouring over the Encyclopedia Eorzea. My husband doesn't read books. Like ever. So this was quite impressive.)

Every first edition has a typo here and there. They tend to be fixed as newer versions come out. Think of it this way: You have the first edition of the Encyclopedia Eorzea, which can be verified by looking in specific places for specific errors. Maybe one day it will be worth more than $50! :)

I'm sorry if people are being excessively harsh regarding the typos and other errors. Please don't be too hard on yourself. And to everyone else: even after a book passes through many rounds of edits and MULTIPLE passes by different proofreaders, somehow errors can still sneak through. It's simply the nature of print publishing... and it can be maddening to *anyone* who had a hand in creating that book, especially because they know, better than anyone, everything that has been done to assure the highest level of quality. I hope the community will be more understanding of this moving forward.

I'm torn about what all of these edits could mean. On the one hand, I didn't get my book, so I am eager to get my hands on it RIGHT AWAY... but on the other hand, I know it will take time to fix the issues... but I want it now... ;;

As odd as it may sound I am curious about mooses archives as well, are they anywhere we can read?

Right there with you. I want a version with as many of the little errors cited in this thread fixed as possible. Unfortunately I doubt they'll be able to fix many, if indeed any, of these errors as soon as the second printing, which is definitely what I'll be ordering as soon as I see that e-mail from the SE Store...

Unless they continue to underestimate demand, and whatever amount they print and stock sells out within a half hour again...

I'm not entirely optimistic on the timing if they decide to give it a few more passes before sending the improved version to the printers. I've worked on similar projects in the past, and proofreading alone can take weeks/months and multiple people dedicating the majority of their time to just that project. That said, I am in no way affiliated with SE -- and I have no idea how they do things over there. So maybe we will be surprised! Either way, I'm just ridiculously excited to get one of these books in my hand... with or without the errors. I've never been this excited about reading a lore book before and now I really regret not standing in line for hours on Friday just to make sure I got one. I didn't realize they'd sell out and I feel so silly for making that assumption. I was right there! Ahhhhhh.
