Summed up perfectly. The hunters don't kill chocobos for no reason, but people seem to be content with skipping all the text and then complain that the story makes no sense. The lore team put so much details in everything and they're there if you look for them, but nobody ain't got time for that. Heck, i find it rather difficult to feel bad about killing random chocobos in the forest myself when they just respawn a few minutes later.

They steal chocobo's freedom and sell them to Ishgard who sells them/their offspring to the GC's where my my chocobo is from that I abuse all the time instead of granting it said freedom, and I'm supposed to feel sympathy for them or find their work admirable. I was also glad when I finished that part of the story because it highlighted how I profit from their work and that probably made me uncomfortable, I'd rather not think about where my fighting slave comes from, haha."

You act like as if chocobos aren't treated properly once sold. Next thing you're gonna tell me is we should never have dogs or cats because we're "stealing their freedoms away".

Fictional slavery is not something we can talk about why again?
Should we also not talk about fictional belief systems that opress and lie to their people for thousands of years?

All because these things are a very real problem in the real world so how dare someone says how bad that is in a fictional setting?
In your eyes it's probably also not okay to say "The blatant xenophobia in Gridania made me not want to go there ever again" because OMG real life xenophobia is so much wooorse! :rolleyes:

But if you really wanna go there: appearently working your horse/ox/whatever to death in real life because it can't escape from you is not so bad to you that using the term slavery seems even the least bit justified.

Seriously how do you expect a wild animal to magically become a domesticated companion, to which we summon to get its butt kicked for us with gysahl greens to just magically be unsurvivable and totally trusting of humans(dangerous other animals)? Even cats and dogs have been domesticated in history in the same exact way(and even genetic mutations inbred like bulldogs to get that "look" you love) to become the lovable pets that many people own and love, its just a reality story of how all "pets" are made to be and the writers felt to explore and answer a simple what if about how this thing came to be in eorzea. Sorry the story pushes your buttons but its a very realistic and parallel way as to how these things happen, parallel being, thats pretty much how your own pets if you have any came to be. Glad it makes you think. Sorry it makes you upset. Once domesticated, and bred, then the companion chocobos are "picked from the litter" as any "my cats got `8 kittens that need a good home, someone come take?"

Isnt this an adult game with adult themes and fantasy violence ?

That moment you've been killing Aldgoats, Antelopes, Bears, Boars, Buffalos, Dodos, Coeurl, Gaelikats, Opo-Opos, Yaks, Apkallus, Gobbues, Tonberries... even the harmless Adamantoises, but somehow only cares or feel empathy about Chocobos. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Chocos are just like your common cow/horse meat, infact im more disgusted that FF tries to humanize them too much, it would be much more intersting and more humane to make one of beasttribe monsters a companion then to expand chocobos existance more then it is - a horse alternative to traverse terrain. You can love your horsy as much as equstrian rider does, but in the end its just a horse.
