Unless you're sitting on top of your mount, this will look like the minion is not out, but it's not removed. Now if you put your chocobo in the party, that's the only time the minion will be removed but it gives you a message, letting you know that you can't have both out or unable to spawn the minion during combat.

Does the order of the area in the Medallium list for each minion have anything to do with how often legendaries drop there? Western seemed to drop much more of them for Hovernyan than South Shroud (0/19 fates), but I don't know if that was because of the list order, or just that I have terrible, sporadic luck.

While it is RNG based, the list of each minions tells you 3 area's/zones and I am not 100% on that, but it looks like that only this area/zone gives the chance of dropping the legendary crystal, and the order of the list don't matter either. If you just go for the regular medals then it don't matter, you get 1 medal every time you get gold/silver from the fate.

Example, I found myself last night of not having one legendary crystal drop in central thanalan, even so it's listed as the first option on the Komajiro minion. Switched to western la noscea, got 7 crystals within 34 fates, and some of them dropped one after another, after that I got 9 tokens within 12 fates in the same area just different minion.

No, the drop rate actually is that believably bad. I went nearly 30 FATEs in Central Thanalan before getting any.

Uhh, no. The only reason your minion will disappear is if you call out your chocobo. It also temporarily disappears if you mount, but I don't think this actually affects anything because when you get off your mount your minion will reappear.

Ok, so do any of the fates areas have known guaranteed drops for certain legendary medals, or was that hint totally bogus?

I want to say yes, certain FATES do drop it everytime, seen the Legend for USApyon drop again and again for that cactuar FATE thing [ can't remember the name ] in W.Thana

Can confirm, Legendary Medals for specific Yo-Kai are guaranteed for certain Fates.

I.E. USApyon's Legendary Medal HAS dropped 3 times in a row FOR ME in the FATE Bubble Trouble AND Needles to Slay in W.Thanalan
