Can we get a poll at the end of every content patch?

I think it should be in game but it should be sent to players who have had 6-7 months of continuous subscription. Allowing people who have experienced the patch including the break between patches as well. Simply because the data would be skewed if you asked someone who just started the game 2 months before the patch when they didnt even experience the last patch.

In other words there needs to be conditions met before you ask players. And the poll should be 3 weeks- month after the launch of the patch. Giving players plenty of time to try out all the content in the patch.

However avoiding skewed data has to be a primary focus, otherwise the poll is pointless.

I just wanted to add my support to his idea.
It works pretty well in BnS and it wouldn't have to be ingame, even some link in launcher would suffice.

I think, generally speaking, the best way to refrain from having skewed data is to avoid tampering with the sample. Having restrictions on the survey will result in skewed data, because you'll only get a subset of the playerbases opinion.. They need 6-7 months active sub. What if I have played for years, but take every 5th month off for whatever reason. I may have a very good understanding of the game and of the patch, but can't fill in my feedback. Conversely, someone could have subbed, forgot they subbed and have 6 months active sub but barely if ever logged in.

Outliers will naturally occur when taking these samples, and the devs have more data than just the survey(s) to look at.

I certainly do NOT want to see a damned survey window poipping up in game after I complete every achievment worthy thing. It's bad enough that every cutomer service number you call pushes a survey, I do not want a damnable survey in the game at all.

I understand your desire for immersion, but they could add it in a similarly immersive way to plenty aspects of the game. IMO a lot of the UI is not very immersive, the neon colours and lights associated with the party menu and HP bar seem very off in a fantasy mmo to me. The party finder and duty finder windows are definitely immersion breaking. The nameplates above peoples heads are immersive breaking. In fact, I can't think of a single UI element that isn't immersion breaking, yet we have a lot of UI elements.

The surveys could be added in several ways. They could be added like a log under our Character Logs (hunting, crafting, challenge etc), they could be a survey that is filled out at a specific location (maybe there is an NPC/building in Ishgard who takes feedback), or they could have the surveys moogle mailed to you. If not moogle mailed, you could receive a notification in your chat window that a survey is available (similar to when your retainer sells something for you).

If the survey was placed in the Launcher, there would be an added limitation on the response rate which would skew the data. If we want good data, we need to make the surveys as easily accessible as possible. However, we would want to balance that with being unobtrusive (which i think my previous paragraph addresses).

Re-read your post on page 1, it certainly seems to suggest a survey after nearly every activity, with the possibility of a survey log (which I think would be silly in itself).
Your post indicates a survey happening after finishing Castrum, after a first match in the Feast, after clearing a floor, after clearing a dungeon, etc.

These are all questions that can be part of an overall patch survey given out a few months after a major patch release, you're just not thinking far enough than ""How did you feel about the patch." -> Disappointed. OK..?"

This is an MMO, not a fast food chain, not a store chain. An MMO doesn't need a similar rate of surveys, just once every major patch is enough.

I think you think a bit too highly of the playerbase. There's plenty who just don't care about giving feedback like this, who will just ignore the surveys. They just play the game for fun, when they stop having fun, they just move onto another game.

I think we do need another poll similar to what the devs did in 1.0 and whose data was used to make 2.0

As of now, the devs collect the data themselves (they probably have the tools) and just makes decisions from that info.

Yes, we do have occasion community reps responding to our posts and say that they'll rely it to the dev team ... but is that enough now?

Certain 1.0-like polls wont hurt them?

Indeed the part I was arguing against is the idea of a pop up. I never suggested it pop up. I was suggesting it be after specific activities, but not necessarily every activity.

It's a business which is selling a product to a consumer. There are a lot of similarities. Consumer satisfaction is not limited to retail and fast food.

I think there will be plenty of people who do no fill it out, fill it out incorrectly and troll it. However, I think the majority wouldn't, and they would be cast as outliers. Regardless, I also think that decisions wouldn't be based solely off the surveys, but they would simply help fill in knowledge gaps of their already vast amounts of data.
