If its new, no.
If its old, yes.
I always like going in blind. And if my FC can't clear content then a few key people watch videos.
It depend the type of content. If it's a 4 man dungeon i will go like yolo but otherwise, if it's a raid like alexander savage i will definetly watch thoses vids for sure
Because I am normally the leader I watch and read as much as I can if content has been around a bit and I haven't done it yet or if it seems like people are being dumb... see Garuda EX.
I don't watch videos (mostly because of my ADHD) but I try to at least read up on mechanics before doing something.
I do if I'm going into content with people I don't know. If the group comprises of mostly FC and LS people then most of us just go into it blind.
For FC/LS/Friends run as you like.
For PF as long as you read the description and it does not say "farm/no bonus/learning but watch a video" I think it's totally fine go in blind.
The only thing get me dispointed is in a DF party people who go in blind EXPECT someone else to explain them the mechanic...if you want to go in blind don't ask for strategy (it won't be blind any more), if you want to know the strategy then do your homework before joining, no one is obligated to explain you anything in DF.
I find watching a video does nothing for me. I've WATCHED Binding Coil of Bahamut Content, but KNOWING what happens doesn't mean I'm able to REACT to what happens appropriately. Only PLAYING the content can give you that. And then people ask "Did you watch the video?" I'm like "Yes, I did, thank you very much."
I think people put too much faith in videos because you can watch something until your eyes are red all you want but it's not going to make you better at doing something no one is willing to help you learn. It's this sentiment that has kept me from casually doing coil content. I Don't want to DF it when everyone expects people doing that to be able to do it on the first try. No matter how much I know what's going to happen, every fight is different in how much DPS people dish out, team organization and make up and whether people dodge or not. I'm a Healer and I have to react to every screw up people may do. I'm the butt saver, so there's NO WAY just watching a video is enough.
I tend to do new stuff as it comes out so there isn't videos available.
Even if there were, I wouldn't really bother with a dungeon or primal. Part of the fun is learning it.
Endgame raids however all the rules are thrown right out.
