That "someone" is the producer of the game who has a say in every single feature/piece of content implemented in the game. It's not just some random dude, he's the producer/director, thus he decides the DIRECTION the game goes in.
Get the drift?

You'd still be sitting on the sidelines until they implement content that takes longer to complete not which has time restrictions. I'm talking about fights that take a little longer to figure out, that require multiple steps, etc. that is long term goals. Long term goals are not simply "it's on a weekly timer with a 2% drop rate so it will take me a year to get X item" that is a terrible example of a long term goal in my opinion.
With Tanaka- No plans for real endgame/alliance content, broken casual focused battle/class system
With Yoshi- Extensive plans for alliance content, big focus on getting as much endgame content as possible, fixing battle system to allow for more complex fights.
Yoshi is absolutely taking this game in a direction that should be welcomed by actual hardcores who want challenging/meaningful content and fights. It is completely unfair to say he is "turning the game casual" when the game was originally and wrongfully designed to be 100% casual accessible/focused.
When you can't appeal to people who appreciate a good game you appeal to people who like instant gratification in hopes they will buy your product, quit, return, quit, return, quit return, etc.
FFXIV is just going into the more casual less-hardcore direction than FFXI was.
when the game completely fails on PS3 and they shut it down they will probably realize it was a bad idea and FFXVII will probably be a great mmo again.
And nowhere in the post did he mention actually making the content easier. He said that in 3 months time, people who don't play as much could finally have the resources to get the item, instead of the hardcore players who just run in with all Archers.
On top of that, the OP got the quote entirely out of context. Yoshi-P is talking about how important gear is, and he gave the example of people going after a black mage rod because it'd be MUCH better than any generic weapon a crafter could make, on top of being unique to a black mage.
Here's the paragraph that follows the OP's quote:

We believe that by overcoming content that is extremely difficult, restricted by level and class (job), and have low drop rate, players can achieve a true sense of accomplishment and superiority. This is also a unique characteristic. Please consider high level crafter recipes to fall under this category as well. (Of course, this will not mean that all recipes are going to).
Hey, check that out! Yoshi-P understands that working hard for stuff is a good thing! Still don't see anywhere in his post about turning on Easy Mode though.
Hello everyone,
It looks like this thread has been straying from the topic at hand so we will be closing it at this time. Thank you all for your comments here. Have a great day!
