But there's no association between whether someone's in the "actively searching, sharing information" or "wait until the information is fed to them, show up" categories with whether they're in a group or solo. You have both those sorts of people who are solo and both those sorts of people in groups.
There doesn't need to be one. If you can't kill a hunt solo, you don't deserve full credit hunting solo. It doesn't matter if they are fully invested in helping or being lazy. If they were fully invested they'd be in a party or trying to recruit a party. Also, someone who is queued for a duty, "forced to hunt solo", isn't fully invested in the hunt anyway. They are hunting to pass the time to do get into their queue. Why do they deserve full credit when hunting isn't their main focus? Why should they get full credit over those actually doing most, if not all, of the work?
What if they ARE the one doing all the work? You're still trying to equate whether people are solo or not with how actively involved they are, and that's simply a meaningless comparison, as the one has nothing to do with the other. Why do you seem to think that hunting wouldn't be their main (or only) focus during that half hour or hour or however long? It's not like waiting in a queue takes any focus. The queue is simply what's happening in the background, where the player can't do anything about it, anyway.
The developers have stated that open world content is designed to give you something to do while waiting in long queues or party finders.
You cannot hunt while waiting in your queue due to the credit system not allowing this.
In what way is a player 'entitled' if they expect the game to fulfill its basic design goals?
Simple, because it screws over hunt LS's monopolies on Allied Seals. That's the only motive at work here.
I'm not. I thought I put it pretty clear already. It doesn't matter how invested a solo player is. They're solo. They don't equate to anything but themselves.
It's a group activity. If they can't clear the content solo, they don't deserve the full reward of being solo.
Man are we playing video games, or doing work?
FATEs are also a public group activity. Many FATEs can't reasonably be completed solo, but you can still achieve the gold reward for them while solo.
Whether or not open world content requires more than one person to clear was never relevant to how it disseminates rewards.
When Hunt groups weren't at critical mass, in 2.4, you could also easily achieve full credit on any S or A rank solo, despite it requiring multiple players to defeat. It's clear that the ability to battle these monsters and receive their rewards without a party was part of the intended design - which breaks when you put Carbontwine/Sand/et al into Hunting.
