Same exact thing happened to me, early in TOAU I was drg main doing colibri and doing awesome dmg (if properly equipped etc) People who didn't like drg from before quickly changed their mind and drg became something to look for in those pts.

A lot of this is probably going to change when the Job system is in place. A Japanese interview confirmed Bard as one of the Jobs being added, and the only really likely Class it would be linked to is Archer, considering the other jobs that have been revealed. I think while a Lancer or a Pugilist might not be capable of putting out enough damage to warrant the extra damage they take compared to an Archer, I think a Dragoon or Monk *will* deal substantially more damage than an Archer or a Bard. It will shift their focus from a generic solo build with balanced offense and defense, to a party-based build focused much more heavily on damage. That might also come with abilities that make them more useful as a DD in dungeons than an Archer could be.
The only tip I have for this fight (we almost beat him last nite) are:
-Once you reach the room of ogre position everyone on their respective spots and let only the tank/s trigger the cutscene, that alone saves teh CONs from using a curaga 2 on the whole party to heal from te starting firespit.
-If you want to punch the living crap out of him DO NOT DO IT FROM BEHIND unless you wanna get buttstomped to death, position yourself on THE SIDES of teh ogre to avoid him using his buttstomp.
I was Party Leader with Irana last night on our Darkholds runs, she is right. Her tip works very, very well. 10-1 the ogre WILL fire spit "someone" at the start and its an aoe attack that does 1000+ dmg to a single member, which links to whoever is standing next to them. Mages will then usually by instinct cast a Curaga or some high end Cure to recover the party, getting everyone off to a bad start.
With her tip, she means that the tank(s) will stand in the portal and wait for the CS to trigger, mages and DD will find a safe spot outside of the portal that is away from the tank (main target) and after the cutscene all mages and DD should be where they left off without having to run from the tank. Its a good little tip in case the ogre pulls a fast one and fire spits everyone. :p

I thought this mantra died out when people realized you didn't need smn, smn, smn, blm, blm, pld to win CoP BCNMs?
Nope. Most people are aware that you can do things with a suboptimal group if you really want. People that like winning don't handicap themselves. It is what it is.Quote:
I doubt he ever realized that.
Also, I still have yet to see Jenn in game ever. Do you even play? On Rab I mean.
