SE Stop Using FATES for everything in FFXI Realm Reborn!

That's kind of the exact point though. It should stand for that, but it doesn't. I need to do FATEs to get my Atma weapon, to then do more FATEs to get my Animus weapon, to then...See what I mean? FATEs are fine as an alternative way to level up, get seals etc. It's when we are just forced to do FATEs for hours on end because the development team couldn't think of anything original that people start to get frustrated.

1. No, there are enough quests and levequests that you don't have to do FATEs to unlock the dungeons.
3. Easter and Girls Day required no FATEs.
7. You can get ventures from daily quests and levequests. I don't do FATEs and I have dozens of ventures. I get too many seals from provisioning and supply missions.
8. Leveling chocobos through FATEs is purely your decision. I've never done this, and it gets leveled quite fine.
9. I get too many seals from provisioning and supply missions.

You had very few points and most of them are repetitive.

In other words, this another Atma complaint thread because that's probably the only one that can't be avoided.

Hey I know a lot of people counter my point by saying there are alternative, I already know there are alternative to FATES for those I listed. They are not force, but you can't deny they are in the Games and it is less effected if you don't do FATES.

Like for example Quest and Main Story Quest is only one time, they will run out, Chocobo are hard to level without Fates. Provision Quest? You need to trade in Pink Items which not always be available and will run out. Same go with Hunting Log, they are one time only. Lev Quest? Give less exp and take longer then FATES. There is very fews Events that don't used FATES, that is good but there is also too many that does. I just want to make a point that SE is re-using everything based on FATES. I won't be surprised the next patch or quest or will be FATES related again.

Again, I have my Animus Weapon already so don't know what you talking about another ATMA complains Thread.

No, they are hard to level with FATE.
The best way to level a Chocobo is killing non-stop enemies some levels above you (or at your level if you are level 50). You can't kill enemies non-stop with FATEs. Also the chocobo only get the exp from the enemies you claimed or did at least 30% dmg before it died (so it count as kill sharing). The chocobo don't get exp from the FATE reward.

eh... I'm ok with Fates.
There is enough variety in them to keep them fresh.
You have escort Fates, NM fates, defending Fates (where you have to keep crates from being kiled), gathering items (like the cactus one in Thanalan), etc.

Then again, I never did do fate grinding for exp or for atma. At best, I would do a passing fate for bonus exp or for atma, I would do 10 fates in a zone then move on.

As far as the points the OP was trying to make. a lot of those have a different option to completing them.
Case in point- earning ventures.

I'm fine with FATES, they're a good alternative to leveling DPS classes. Leves gives you shit exp. And dungeon ques takes forever.

Going to have to disagree here.

I doubt many players would be at all frustrated if the FATE system wasn't forced down your throat so much. As with any game mechanic, it's a tool to be used in moderation. If everything was gained by spamming the same dungeons ad infinity then people would be complaining about dungeons instead. The problem is that FATEs are overused, so instead of being merely a side-quest it becomes a chore.

FATEs suffer from several issues. They're short, repetitive and offer low rewards. There's no continuity between FATEs aside from a small handful of exceptions, no real consequences for failure and their openness makes it incredibly difficult to elicit any kind of strategy from the combatants. No strategy makes for even more dull and unentertaining fights, which just exaggerates the repetitive nature of an already repetitive quest.

If they want FATEs to be anything more than a throwaway, there needs to be some actual thought behind the structure. Guild Wars 2 is an example of things done right, with events leading off into other events, consequences for failure which can even include losing or gaining shortcuts through the area. Rewards for big events can even include large loot chests for the participants.

I really hope they re-evaluate the system, because it could be something far greater than it is currently. I won't admonish SE for adding them, quite the opposite, but they need to put stronger consideration into the overall impact they leave if they want them to remain an attractive option for future upgrades.

Thanks to the challenge log it is now easier (first time a Chocobo can get exp rewards from something)
