Sucks that the pouplation is thining!

If you guys think leveling fishing or FATE grinding a fourth/fifth/sixth battle class to 50 through FATEs could be considered satisfying or interesting content to anybody, then you are seriously delusional.

A new dungeon/raid/primal encounter is content. More stuff to craft is content. A new game mode (PvP) is content. Treasure hunts and dailies (though a bunch of people are gonna hate them) are content. Leveling one of every class to 50 through the same zones, the same FATEs, and the same quests is not additional content, and certainly not the kind that will retain players.

The difference between FFXI and FFXIV is that we no longer have 24 hour a day logins, Japan has their own servers that are packed at the time most people play and pretty much deserted when everyone goes to bed. Our servers have relaxed into the same rhythm but at times, when I play anyway, they are pretty darn crowded. What did you expect? Many more people are playing FFXIV than ever played FFXI even though I loved that game. Ya know right from the beginning when I played FFXI people would say, "the game is dying" they still say it 11 years later.

A fair few people in my FC have taken a break due to being burned out on FATE's and other aspects that need to be grinded out to lvl up in that dead zone each lvl from around 40+ where you've burned through the quests and story content and leves and dungeons just dont offer enough xp to help...most are coming back though once 2.1 drops in the hopes that they add more content into that lvl range and mayeb shuffle the xp gain abit so leves and such are as worthwhile for xp gain as FATE's which get boring fast.

My self i've been logging in every day or so to lvl a crafting job or explore abit but due to a crappy internet connection in my new place atm i cant get much done on my main(lvl 43 monk) :(

I suspect the next year will be the important tipping point for this game though, the fact they already have an expansion pack planned out may also help but they really need to take a leaf out of other games books and find ways to slow the progression down abit without boring people.

Both of my Linkshells are empty.

But the Lightning FATEs are rammed and I still had to sit through a queue of people to get in, so...

I reckon the game is doing pretty well - but people are just gonna see what they wanna see.

Coil is ridiculously hard to organise.
.3 second inbuild server latency meaning when your nowhere near titan for example you still get hit.
Slow as combat.

This is normal. Not everyone that buys an mmo subs. You realize wow has well over 60,000,000 copies sold? Remember when they had 50-60 million play- Oh wait. They didn't? Also the 1.2 million accounts made? 500,000 came from last month alone. The same month this number was taken from. Guess what else? No one counts as a subscriber until they pay. That's right, 500,000 people bought the game last month and we currently have 600,000 subscribers. We don't know of those 500,000 new people how many will sub.

So your one of those people that love a terrible combat system and slow game play in addition to putting hours into your toon and looking the same as everyone else. Have fun with your dumbed down ez mode mmo with 0 reason to keep playing at lvl 50

The combat isn't that slow. I've played slower (FF11 and others.) Slow doesn't make something terrible. Chess can have some pretty slow gameplay. Chess also happens to be one of my favorite games. Looking the same as everyone else? Fixed in 2.2 with the vanity system. Also not very different from other mmorpgs. End game gear looks like end game gear. In WoW if you're capable of getting tier 6 you wore tier 6. Would it be great to look different and have vanity? Of course which is why it's coming. Is it necessary for a new game? Not at all. This game has more content than any mmo's release since 2004 by the way. Don't pull the whole "But it's not competing with those games.." no mmo will release with as much content as mmo's with years of expansions. You have any idea how much money blizzard has poured into WoW? You think square enix or any company really has the budget or time to release a game with that amount of content? EZ mode? Took longer for people to beat Twintania than the first raids in wow's latest expansion. Titan is harder than 90% of the bosses in existing mmo's as well.

Not to mention golden saucer is around the corner. A card game has been alluded to. Housing, breeding, racing, mini games, treasure hunting, and more. Thing is I don't mind waiting for an mmo to make improvements. If they start going back on their word or making changes I don't like? I'll be gone. Just as I've left many many mmorpgs in the past but I'm giving them time. I used to be an mmo hopper but I like the sound of the stuff on the horizon. I owe no company loyalty and I'm not loyal to the FF franchise but yes to answer you I enjoy the game.
