Don't let our stories scare you away. The tales posted here represent some of the most extreme situations involving exceptional losses of communication or extremely hostile individuals. Most groups you will meet in dungeons are fairly reasonable, especially after you have adjusted to healing in this game. It's true that you may run into some unpleasant characters from time to time, but you can always find a good linkshell or free company on your server if you don't want to leave your groups up to chance. I personally pug the vast majority of my content and rarely run into parties that will not at least make an effort to cooperate. My Pharos Sirius example was one out of a mountain of successful dungeons. You'll be fine as a healer as long as you stick with it.

during PS4 Beta Sastasha the Tank get hate of 1 mob at a time and 2 ACN each with topaz didn't know how to tank more then 1 mob and they didn't know how to heal their summons and just 1 heal gets 1-3 mobs on me while trying to heal it wasn't fun... and the boss was horrible took like 3 maybe 4 tries why so many adds in that one 1 heal there and 5-6+ adds on me that is just wrong! should have it recorded and done it again my self using ACN using topaz tanking more then 1-2 mob boss was still horrible, should also have it recorded!

Don't worry too much about it. There are some bad healers out there too, the threads perspective skews it a bit here. I'm sure the DPS and Tanks have as many horror stories about us as we do them. That in mind you'll never be truly safe from a bad group, it will happen. People may or may not blame you, and when they do will likely be downright insulting. But who cares, you'll probably not see them again anyway. Best advice I can give you is to make friends with a good tank. A good tank goes a long way in avoiding recreating a lot of these stories. I've played up to 50 on my WHM almost entirely in the duty finder and have no horror stories to speak of. A couple newbie tanks, whom I forgive since they're new, is about as bad as it's been for me. I'll have an exceptionally tragic horror story to share soon when my good luck finally runs out I'm sure of it.

And @Assirra just post a sentence first, then edit it to ignore the character limit. Stupid I know.

On a random note, I remembered I have another... Not as much a horror story as an ironically amusing one.

Running around in Coerthas (speedleveling PLD through fates) with a BLM friend on teamspeak. Ended up doing the Svara fate chain a few times, no problems whatsoever. Ended up as main tank most of those times, as well. Then one time, it doesn't go quite as well. No one heals me (or the other tanks/dpses) that I notice. I throw a few cures when I have time, but most of that fate ends up being healed by my BLM friend with Physick, significantly lowering the average damage in the group. Ends up getting aggro from the majority of the adds, since all other tanks were busy trying to over-aggro me on Svara. We get a win in the end, however, and that's good enough for me. I just figured there weren't any healers that time around, and that next time will be better.

Then I read a shout in the chat box from some guy complaining that Svara took foreeeeever to kill. I debate with myself whether to say something or not, but then can't help myself and comment that it probably would have gone a bit faster if we'd had someone other than a BLM doing the healing. I get no response to that, either from the person complaining or anyone else in the area.

It's not until we run into the guy during another fate that we realize... The dude's a SCH.
Me and my friend just about broke down laughing at that point. (Said SCH also seemed to keep wanting to dps, dying several times and ending up asking for rezzes. It would have added some to the irony if he'd been Raised by a PLD, but I didn't make it over there in time :p )

(On a side-note, I firmly stayed off tank on Svara from there on - with everyone wanting MT position, someone needs to keep the adds off the healers ^^; )

Not a horror story but irony and derp as a healer:

Helping a PF on Titan HM. Keep wiping from people bad placement on bombs dying right before heart phase, or getting knocked off or dying during bombs on heart phase.

Well, seeing how I was pretty much the only one not getting hit by either, I suggested to follow me during next run on bombs to avoid getting hit.

Well, they did, and I managed to get land slided off. Doh!!!

First time healing CT and the other healer gets dc'd during King Behemoth fight, leaving me to solo heal the entire party as a scholar (think both tanks were on tower, certainly not KB).

Everyone congratulated me afterwards and were champs about the whole thing so it ended up being a good experience, but I was running around like a madman with no good way to counter the electrocution. Pretty sure a tank hit like 86 health during that. It was just LUSTRATE LUSTRATE LUSTRATE AETHERFLOW LUSTRATE. I even used some on the DPS I was that desperate.

Not really "horror", just frustration.

First time doing BCT1 was doing pretty well for the most part I think. Only problem was the snake boss split. (It was a practice run I joined).

Had a PLD, a WAR, and 2 WHM (me and another). I got the WAR after split, other healer got the PLD. I'm not quite sure how the final part of the fight is supposed to be taken by the tanks (I know it needs to be killed within like 10 seconds of each other), but the WAR kept dropping like a rock towards the end and would die at the same point every time. The final run of the group we had both snakes down to under 5% and the DPS just started burning them of course. WAR takes two hits and drops from 6kish HP to 600 so Benediction! He's topped off at his 7k or 8k HP then he gets one shot like two seconds later as I spam cure 2 on him. The PLD was using Hallowed Ground around that spot of the fight, the WAR should have Holmganged, no? Ah well, was a practice run anyway.

Aurum Vale with a Level 50 Tank who wouldn't avoid Bad Breath and a DPS who wouldn't use their AoEs on the Morbol Fruit spawns in the final boss.

My friend (playing the other DPS) and I eventually abandoned the dungeon after six wipes against Miser's Mistress because it was a nightmare.

We ran it again the next night with another friend of ours and breezed through it.

Tanking cobberbell mine from the start to the end.

Reminds me of a low level roulette I did recently and end up in D.Darkhold.

PLD on sword oath, never used provoke/flash at all. Doesn't use CD too. End up I get whacked left right centre, but thanks to having a BLM that helps me to sleep all the mobs, we survived.

There was once he fell down the slope and took donkey years to come back up, the monk got fed up and tanked the mobs instead (to proceed). Surprisingly it was way smoother and I think we cleared mobs faster lmao.
