Joined a Brayflox Queue as a DRK to farm infantry set for my MCH when i got 32 and to level up. 3 Premates + me. great.
They pulled all mobs after the first boss and I was waiting in the second boss room entrance. After the second boss, we killed all mobs on the bigger area, and them, finally, Aiatar. They vote abandon and I was like:

2 days ago, me and my gf queue up for The Vault for the first time, me as a PLD and she as a WHM. We wiped 2 times on the second boss but its okay.

Final Boss.

Wiped 3+ times.

After the 4th wipe, the DPS vote to kick her for harassment.

I voted no, but it's useless.

From what I understand of the post you quoted, they didn't even participate in the fight itself. When I join an in progress duty and I am locked out of a boss fight, I pass on the loot as I did not participate in the fight itself. This is the same mentality a lot of people had issues with in Diadem when you had DoL who didn't fight rolling on drops the battle classes were getting.

It's alright, I'm was not offended, just confused. I was trying to keep my post straightforward, sorry if it came off a little blunt. I sympathize with your sleepiness, though, I'm like a different person if I stay up too late or don't have 2+ cups of coffee in the morning.

Do PvP horror stories count?
The general ones that stick out to me is when people freak out on me for not healing while I have their melee on me the entire time interrupting casts, and rather than threaten the melee, they poke at the caster while their own healer is freecasting. I mainly PvP as a WHM because I enjoy the CC and Sacred Prism more than AST's kit, but I think I need to AST in soloq more often at this point. Or swap to DPS.

There is always a good chance that the group kicked the previous person to increase their chances of getting the loot they wanted.

This happened to me the other day. I had half their team on me (Just learning PVP, and as WHM at that) and the other half killing our top guy. Other healer was dead, nobody helping me, obv both myself and the dps go down, he starts cursing to me about always keeping top player alive...

I couldn't even bother to respond to him.

This is a tale of feel good that I just have to share.

So I just levelled an alt on another server to 60, which meant re-clearing the new content of 3.2. I got geared up, and then finished everything off with Sephirot normal, since, while I've only done it once (and have yet to try much of SephEx), I do still really enjoy that fight.

Group starts, seems to be a fair number of new people. Now I vaguely remember mechanics, but not well enough that I could explain everything before the fight started—I needed a refresher of seeing everything myself. No one else offers mechanics, and we start. Okay, let's see how people learn by trial.

A few mistakes from people (not moving behind Sephirot when he turns), but we make it past his ultima and get to the final phase. Even though a 1 was put over the wind mob, it doesn't die first, and we wipe. No biggie, live and learn. No one throws any shit, and we try again.

Make it to final phase much easier this time, kill the wind add asap, and we live enough to see all the mechanics. Some people, alas, do get knocked off/die too many times. But again, several people seem to be learning, so no problem, right? Not enough dps though on one of the wind adds by the end, so we wipe again.

So, third try, and I was wondering if someone would vote abandon...and yep! Someone initiates it, even though the group is clearly learning and getting better. Thankfully it is denied, as I wanted to see this group clear! The tank who must have initiated it then goes “kick me I'm done”, and the beauty part of it? He was the only “mentor” in the group. I laugh and go “people are learning” (obviously so and everyone's clearly trying).

The other tank steps up, and we push on, not giving a crap about the QQing tank. Mentor!Tank takes a jab at the healers for having had full mp and yet couldn't raise people last try, to which I respond “swiftcast cooldown genius” and even lightspeed was down so gotta wait to raise—and 2 dps had fallen off, thus meaning impossible raise with an added “sorry I manage my mp decently”. The Mentor!Tank also tried to screw us over by voking the boss to face us, but we're quick to adjust and let him die, leaving him dead while the group performs wonderfully and we clear like everyone was a pro.

It felt so good to see Seph die without that tank helping (the downside being he gets a free carry but eh, the good outweighed that). I take one final stand and tell that tank to throw away his crown, and even other people tell him to never tank again, while he whines some more.

So if anyone from that run happens to see this: Well done you guys!
And to that tank: Chill out, it's just a game. But thank you for making the rest of us stand together and feel like we really accomplished something without your sorry ass.

Well, I'm reporting myself as the duty finder horror story. My FC decided to do Sephirot normal (yeah, this isn't even a Seph EX story) and despite watching a video I couldn't figure the stupid thing out. That poor AST in my party raised my stupid self seven times. It was quite possibly the most humiliating DF experience so far. I wanted to crawl into a dark hole and die.

A bit of a generic tale but today I had one of those Conjurers in DF who reached level 35 in Copperbell Mine's didn't have White Mage unlocked always ran ahead of me (I was a Dark Knight) and pulled monsters hardly healed didn't do any damage to enemies at all and as soon as he reached 35 he left the duty and we had to requeue, we asked why he never put protect on the party and got no response. Convinced it might have been a bot but people do legitimately do this.

I got one!

So yesterday night my mother (PLD) and me (WHM) decided to do our roulettes before going to bed like we usually do and we got the Vault. We get a BRD and SMN. SMN says its his first time so I told him that I will explain before each boss and everything goes smoothly until the first boss, I was typing when I guess the BRD got sick of waiting 5 sec and pulled the boss and died. We thought that maybe he did it by accident so I waited until he was back and without even have the time to cast protect, he pulled the boss, again. He started ranting about how we fail and how bad we were. I told him politely that he could have just waited 5 sec but then raged some more and left.

We got a replacement within seconds and the rest went smoothly and the SMN thanked me at the end. That BRD lost more time from pulling and having to get back to the boss than me telling the SMN the boss fight.

Something similar happened with my first Arboretum run. I went with two people from my then FC as a DRG; healer was a random. During the last boss I went to pieces. I could not stay out of the magic vulnerability circles and so kept getting one shot by magic attacks. I got seduced repeatedly. I must have been raised at least 5 times but the healer was a saint and never got tetchy although Lord knows I would have in their place. Totally soured the evening and put me off doing Pharos HM for some time.

Running A8 as a DRG and as I pop the LB, multiple aoes spawn underneath me, meaning I'm left dead after it goes off. I lol'd in party chat, commenting how I was a true dragoon. No one said anything but I got two comms and won my loot with a roll of 17. XD (though to be fair I was the only one rolling XD)

reported by an FC friend : bard in A8n, 250 deeps. Nothing else to add.

When you watch people do the worst possible things i A8 as a healer. And then raise your cohealer, and they cast lb3 for two dps and die, because they cast it while standing in the boss AOE, and they say "I always die when I cast that."...


DPS was beyond low too.

And here I've had great A8 groups until now.

Scary SCH reporting in!

After a lot of back and forth, my buddy convinced me to try and level my SCH from 50-60 along with his DRK. Now...I haven't touched this job for at least 2.5 years and I had warned him of the horrors that may be unleashed. So we queue up for leveling roulette and end up in AV. I somehow managed to wipe us on the very first pull. I mean, I expected some death to happen, but not like that! Those poor DPS were probably sitting there in horror wondering if we could even finish the run.

Went into A5N last night. Wiped to Hummelfaust twice ._. Half the party didn't run away from the bomb thing (the one with the pulsing AOE indicator. Google isn't helping me find the name).

Really wish people would stop using Healer LB. I only use it for funsies when I know it is a wipe anyway.

Seriously though, the weakness on it is so strong that anyone will die to any mechanic afterwards. Completely useless.

I just ran AV as SCH, I feel bad for the folks for my temper but I said when entering that I'm running it first time as healer, one DPS left right before boss, someone new came and don't remember if it was after first wipe or after second but I wanted to organise my macros and somehow and i have error messages disabled and somehow messed up the ressurection (see?) macro which I didn't notice till a 2nd death happened. I was brassly asking the tank to stop but they didn't seem to listen and later someone died and my macro didn't work, took me few minutes before the tank stopped for me to fix it. Very disorganised run in any case, the tank had 3.2k life and i had 2.6k so I figure he didn't even pick up job reward gear from level 45 quest?

Worst thing about this is I tried to apologise but being so stressed I've said "sorry for sounding like an ass", "didnt really come off as across as one" instead of "didnt really want to come across as one*" but before I fixed my sentence they all left, now I'm sure they'll remember me as the SCH with atttitude.

If it will save the run and there is only a few percentage left, it's good, but it almost never results in a clear. Typically one healer will die from casting it, or if the MT is still up for the cast, they will end up dying to the lack of heals.

But a static with communication would probably do it better than df.

I can't say that i often die using it; however, it almost never results in a clear. If the % is low enough, you'd be better to raise a melee DPS with swiftcast and have them melee LB. If the % is low enough, the entire raid will die in ~5 seconds after it goes off do to some aoe that instant kills everyone who has max weakness.

I've also had my team call "healer lb" when like 2-3 people are dead. I am like uhh no don't! Can easily have 1 healer pick up 1 person each, no need to waste the LB like that >.<

Angry whm incoming.

So I admit it in this run I was angry and I was rude, I'm being up front about that. However, this OT was driving my whm nerves. Anyways so I joined an in progress A6. Half the party is gone but we have what we need 2 healers (one of them me) and 2 tanks. I'm thinking okay we got the hardest jobs already let's wait. Got the DPS and we started, everyone knew what to do, EXCEPT the OT. He didn't switch at the appropriate stacks, he didn't turn the boss when needed, he didn't stack with the other tank when needed. But the final straw for me was the final boss in A6, I can understand dying to Ultra Flash once, I can even understand dying to it twice, but I draw the line at 5 times. At the 5th time I expect you to know what the heck is going on. And unfortunately, it wasn't even the only time the OT would die, I would raise him (and the other ast too, props to the other ast thank god I had him) and he would get himself killed. He died over and over, I couldn't even focus on the other party members because he kept dying. Somehow by some miracle we were able to win. At the end I was rude, I told him for the sake of the world he should quit being a tank. The other party members thought that was mean to say, but honestly I don't care, the other members (beside the ast) didn't have to keep the entire party alive and keep raising a useless tank. And yes I ws mean I was rude but like I said my patience had worn thin.

I'm definitely sympathetic to new people and people who try, but he wasn't trying and he didn't even apologize for causing the problem. Looking back I shouldn't have been so rude but I was being an angry healer lol.

Lol DOUBLE FAIL TIME!!! so the other day i decided to run aurumn vale, got a maurader as a tank, he never went into tank stance i completely forgot to turn off cleric stance... Rest of the run went smooth lol... I tried to keep him alive and couldn't figure out why his health would not go up, i was spamming cure 2 thinking wth man, this guys' gear must suck, then after i went oom the tank died and just before i died i looked up and saw i had cleric stance on... I immediately apologised for my noob move then the tank decided to add that he was also in his dps stance... I'm sure the 2 dps were facepalming like a MF'r... Needless to say i always check cleric stance as soon as i zone in from now on lol.

Well, to be fair, if your tank was a marauder, he wouldn't have a tank stance. (Unless you meant warrior and just typed the wrong thing, of course ^^) But if he didn't have his job stone equipped, or didn't have warrior unlocked, that pretty much counts as a fail at that level ^^;

But yeah... I've done the whole forgetting I have cleric turned on thing too ^^;

This one time, when the FC was running Odin for glamour, and I'd kicked CS to burn him down that last bit... and then forgot it was still on when we zoned in again. Needless to say, it didn't go well. People claimed it was a cleriCal error. And for a while after that they called me CleriCal instead of just Cal ;_; I have such mean FC mates ♥

Daily Trial Roulette, I get Nabriales, ugh. Notice at least one of the players is watching the cutscene, and we get the bonus tomestones message, double ugh. But this is when it got weird. The new guy was a Pugilist, not a Monk, a Pugilist. OK, this stuff happens, I've seen it once or twice, guys who don't know there are advanced classes because they can't be bothered to read, it's thankfully rare, but it happens. Then I inspect his gear, only to find out that in reality, he's lvl 60, because he's wearing a Chimera Felt Doublet of CRAFTING (no, that is NOT a typo)...

How in the flaming hell can a guy who's lvl 60 with his main class be so clueless as to 1- still use his base class (and I checked his armory, he basically never leveled anything else, so he couldn't even be a monk atm), 2- wear a CRAFTING Body piece to do instances, and 3- Be level 60 without having cleared the main story (do you know how many Fates, Leves and/or other forms of grinding that would require)?

I felt like we just carried a bot, but then, just as he left, he bowed to me... Not sure a bot would do that.

So which is worse? Carrying a bot, or carrying the most clueless-but-polite guy in the world?

I'm not helping anyone when I clear stuff for a guy like that, I just unleashed him in the expansion, so he can wreak havoc in all his future groups...

I feel dirty.

Well, I haven't met one yet that is as amazing as everyone makes them out to be lol. I've ran into a few but they don't hold aggro as well as any other tank job, or im just getting the crappy ones, and they also require a lot more heals than any other tank.

As for them requiring more heals, that's untrue. It only seems like they do because their increased health and increased healing received is less "direct" mitigation than straight up percent damage reduction.

Warriors also require more careful usage of cooldowns. But Warriors can essentially mitigate as well as any other tank on top of doing far more damage than a Paladin can, though less than before due to the tank damage nerf.

And Warrior is probably the easiest to hold aggro with to be honest. With Overpower, Steel Cyclone, Maim affecting all of its enmity skills, Berserk, and Unchained nullifying Defiance's stance penalty, Warriors can build insane hate when they want.

Unless you are actually talking about Marauder, in which case ignore what I said for the most part.

I recall someone around here doing just a Lancer play through, I don't recall the exact reason other than perhaps to see the reactions he would get. Ho-hum. This is going to be a long post.

So last night I ran LotA on my WAR because a couple people in my LS said it was very close to filling. The queue popped within a couple minutes and the raid began. The party was very friendly, there was a fair bit chit chat and also talking about items certain people wanted for glamor (as some of them had been in queue for well over an hour).

The run goes fairly smooth until we get to King Behemoth. I call SE tower in Alliance chat and stand there before the boss is pulled. I notice one of our BLMs is basically standing right on top of me, so I assure him in the party chat that I have the tower and he should go help DPS. I literally said, "I have the tower, go help DPS." The guy says nothing but does move around in circles a couple of times. When Ecliptic Meteor goes out a fair amount of people die including this BLM, but after some struggling the healers manage to get everyone up... everyone except this BLM who lets his raise time out at least once. The Meteor takes out several people a second time and the healers are MP spent trying to mass raise once again. But eventually, King Behemoth goes down and the loot drops. It is the casting hat the second caster in the party politely asks the BLM to pass on the hat, "Hey man, can I please have the hat?" Everyone else in the party agrees. This guy gives no response and proceeds to roll need on the hat and win it.

Now the party whole party is pretty upset with this guy, as looting on a fight you did not contribute in is considered very morally incorrect by a large number of people in this community. If he had contributed to the fight, I think the party would have only been mildly miffed at his silence, but would have let it go. I know I would have. But since he did not contribute an ounce of effort into the fight and wasted healer MP by not accepting raises, the party was understandably annoyed with his behavior.

So I launched a vote kick. As we were headed to the final boss I made a very quick note of why the vote kick was launched (in case anyone happened to not be paying attention to the chat until the option came up) "Did nothing, rolls need on loot". Sure enough it passed fairly quickly.

Done and done, right?

Apparently not.

This individual decided to post in a public FFXIV Facebook group about this incident, but he decided to exclude the dialogue from the boss where he was asked to participate in the fight. He only included the part of the party getting upset, making it look like all the fuss was over the hat instead of the main issue of him leeching. As a proud and very active member of the FFXIV community I am very upset that someone would go through so much trouble to make others look bad when they were clearly in the wrong. I am currently waiting acceptance into this group, but the names of some characters in the party were already posted and I will not be surprised if some people start taking this one sided story into the game to harass those people.

[EDIT] Yes, my name was indeed one of the names dropped. My "does nothing, rolls need" comment was apparently too blunt and personal without the context of the vote kick, so I've received a couple nasty tells today about this incident.

At least your troll (or whatever he was) was in your party so you could initiate vote kick... my last troll was when I was tanking VA and had another of the tanks go in /a "You guys are ok with carrying me, right?" I think we all figured he was joking and gave him a laugh or two, maybe a joke back. But... no. He'd refuse to grab adds, had patches where he only auto-attacked on the boss, and.... for the last fight, deliberately stayed outside, leaving me to tank both baby Echidna and one of the snakes. (Thanks to awesome healers, it was no big deal, though it took me a second or two the first time to grab it, having a bit of a O.o moment when I realized the snake was nomming on said healers.) By that time, however, I'd been forced to turn off /a chat, since that tank's party seemed to treat it as their own party chat, discussing stuff that had no relevance to the run at all. When their talk turned to potential spoilers by someone asking what the others thought of some content introduced in the patch a few days earlier, I'd had enough and muted /a from my chat tabs ^^;

Still getting the hang of healing, didn't run much level 50 content yet. From trials so far I did Chrysalis in which I got paired up with another SCH, was mostly DPSing went pretty smooth although we wiped on meteor phase due to, I guess, not tanks being at meteors and DPS not dpsing the add and it seems the general consesus is that usually it's not very smooth. Ran also yesterday the 50 roulette which gave me that dungeon with the waves of mobs coming with a timer going down as SCH and it went surprisingly well, went in today and got Sastasha (Hard). Didn't have any problems the few times I ran it as BLM previously so I didn't expect anything so was happily full dps mode all way along to the first boss. Then something happened and one DPS got down to like 1% of health, I panic and start healing in Cleric Stance, I try to get out of it, I accidentally enable it again when trying to get out of it. Meanwhile, the other DPS died to the same thing I figure at that time, I noticed that we were getting up to 2 stacks of slime debuff so after we wipe first time I put out Selene instead of Eos. So we go in again and I don't even consider at this point stance dancing due how it went first time so I totally focus on healing because clearly I got overzealous. But then it happens, the first one to get chunked down to 1% life is me. I panic, target tank instead and I think my cooldowns from Aetherflow weren't up and I ran scared of I don't know what and died. So the second wipe happened. At this point I ask why did I die and SMN explains to me that if I have debuff on me and get single targetted by boss I'll be oneshot and that I died from DoT, makes sense I suppose. Rest of the run went very smooth, I apologised to the folks for wasting their time, it took us 40 minutes to clear.

Started also playing tanks, my main choice is Gladiator and have to say, I'm really struggling with aggro even if my gear is 1-2 levels below and unique/pink. When someone grabs aggro from I usually start the combowombo to get the proc ready which I use right after provoke... to get still aggro taken from me. I don't know if I'm doing something really badly or what but I just keep losing that aggro, makes me feel really miserable. Someone also asked me for bigger pulls in Sastasha but I mean, with what are you going to AoE? Blizzard 2? :(

Aggro is going to be a struggle until you get to level 26 where you get the third attack in your combo. Especially after they lowered tank damage, since Gladiators don't benefit from the tank stance enmity increase =/ Just make sure that you always keep your weapon updated (and preferrably pink or high-quality -- if you can craft them, or have a friend who can craft them for you, it's the best way, since they tend to be really expensive on the MB), since it's the biggest contributor to your damage, and thus enmity.

But yeah, I really don't get the "gotta speedrun in Sastasha normal" people. Got a DRK yesterday who did that (was trying to get LNC to 22 on an alt). With two LNC and a CNJ in the party. Basically, the DRK's Unleash was the only AoE damage we had -_- and due to him pulling those large groups, the healer had to stick to healing only and couldn't contribute to damage at all, meaning stuff died slower anyway. So I have no idea what that tank was thinking. No commendation for him ¬_¬

Void Ark run last night, at the first boss I noticed one of your bards hadn't been attacking the boss at all. So I checked what they were doing and they were locked out of the arena, standing at quite a distance away, too, as if they hadn't even been trying to get in. So after the boss is downed, I stay behind a little to stick with them as we make our way to the next part. I wave at them, and as we run they stop a few times, at which, of course, I stop too and wait for them to catch up. Clearly they're dragging their feet, intending to be locked out again and carried. We reach the morbol room, and they're inside but still not attacking. So I wave to them a few more times, and poke them, just to let them know I notice what they're doing. Finally they start participating (and I give them a cheer), and in the next boss fight as well. Bard loot drops, they don't win it, and suddenly they've dropped party.

The Meteor takes out several people a second time and the healers are MP spent trying to mass raise once again. But eventually, King Behemoth goes down and the loot drops. It is the casting hat the second caster in the party politely asks the BLM to pass on the hat, "Hey man, can I please have the hat?" Everyone else in the party agrees. This guy gives no response and proceeds to roll need on the hat and win it.

Now the party whole party is pretty upset with this guy, as looting on a fight you did not contribute in is considered very morally incorrect by a large number of people in this community. If he had contributed to the fight, I think the party would have only been mildly miffed at his silence, but would have let it go. I know I would have. But since he did not contribute an ounce of effort into the fight and wasted healer MP by not accepting raises, the party was understandably annoyed with his behavior.

So I launched a vote kick. As we were headed to the final boss I made a very quick note of why the vote kick was launched (in case anyone happened to not be paying attention to the chat until the option came up) "Did nothing, rolls need on loot". Sure enough it passed fairly quickly.

Done and done, right?

Apparently not.

This individual decided to post in a public FFXIV Facebook group about this incident, but he decided to exclude the dialogue from the boss where he was asked to participate in the fight. He only included the part of the party getting upset, making it look like all the fuss was over the hat instead of the main issue of him leeching. As a proud and very active member of the FFXIV community I am very upset that someone would go through so much trouble to make others look bad when they were clearly in the wrong. I am currently waiting acceptance into this group, but the names of some characters in the party were already posted and I will not be surprised if some people start taking this one sided story into the game to harass those people.

[EDIT] Yes, my name was indeed one of the names dropped. My "does nothing, rolls need" comment was apparently too blunt and personal without the context of the vote kick, so I've received a couple nasty tells today about this incident.

I love it when people think they can get away with it. A while back when I ran my weekly VA with a few static members, we had a healer attempt this. First boss, ehh, well shit can happen. Maybe they went afk real quick to use the bathroom or someone was at the door or something. Second boss... Hmm... After third boss they got kicked. Popping sprint and standing still does not make you more convincing. Nice try though.

Did a Sohm Al run earlier today. Thought I'd mess around with a parser running in the background since I'm still pretty fresh to playing Summoner.

Now our party comp was this: Pally, my gf on WHM, me, Black Mage. Now, when I use my parser, I tend to check the gear my party members are wearing. Everything seemed fine, although the tank was a bit undergeared (Ironworks 120's/HQ 115's). BLM was wearing level appropriate stuff. Or so I thought, until my gf pointed out to me halfway through he was wearing, in order, int, vit, dex, str and mnd accessories. Queue the most epic facepalm ever on my side.

No wonder I did 35% of the damage in the run, averaging a dps of 328. The BLM did 22%, averaging a dps of 208. In contrast, the tank and my gf were both around 140 dps >.<

Some people are just idiots :/

This mentality blows my mind, it makes no sense at all. I had a Halatali NM on DRG for leveling roulette, got a DRK tank. Other members where an AST and MNK. The DRK decided to go full speed run mode and pull EVERYTHING. All it did was made sure I had to constantly switch mobs or tank whatever I hit and the healer couldn't help with DPS as he was far too busy cure bombing the tank. The net result was a slower run and a ton of unnecessary stress on the healer. After the first couple of pulls I'd have thought the penny would drop but nope, he obviously thought he was doing a grand job.....
