0. The Plan
1. Step 1
2. Step 2
Sylkis Buds have been harvested, and lucky me received 4 Thavnairan Onions! Almonds were planted in their place.

The Broombush was ready a bit later, and properly intercrossed with the first almonds to give me 4 broombush seeds. Krakka's have been planted in their place.

I am still waiting on the new almonds and krakkas to finish growing, but here are my thoughts so far:
- chance of getting sylkis buds is indeed flaky.
- other than that the loop works perfectly.
- depending on how soon you plant the broombush, don't fertilize them to much. Mine bloomed only 1hour or so after the sylkis.
So after trying it once I would say that the only drawback to this is the flaky chance of producing sylkis buds. That problem might be solved by looping the first step (krakka x almond) untill you have a tiny supply of sylkis before moving to the next step. For now that is what I am going to do before I start the loop again.
@Alice: It should be ok if the broombush finish growing as long as you remove the sylkis first and leave the broombush there so you can plant the Almonds. Plants can still intercross with fully-grown plants, you just obviously don't want to leave the fully grown plants alone for too long so they don't die.
In line with about plan I'm in process of tyding up my currently a bit "messy" planting order in gardes with following adjustment (only first step of the loop is shown, ther rest will follow the same pattern).
The crosbreed will still occur however the faster growing / "cheaper" seeds are in majority now producing higher overall yield. While in step 2 you might need more Broombrushes you can also opt for second alternative pattern instead.Code:ALM - KRR - ALM

KRR - X - KRR

KRR - ALM - KRR
or
KRR - ALM - KRR

ALM - X - ALM

ALM - KRR - ALM
I like it! But I see what you mean by "messy".
So yours would go something more like..
So depending on whether or not crossbreeding will still happen if you have say (1)broom-(2)sylkis-(3)sylkis-(1)broom, like will the (3)sylkis ignore (2)sylkis and go ahead and breed with the broom.. this may or may not work.Code:Alm Kr Alm Yields Sylkis and Mandrake.
Kr Kr Krakkas grow faster, so could possibly breed a second set
Kr Alm Kr with Almonds depending on how often you can fertilize.
Repeat until you have 5-6 Sylkis.
Alm Br Alm Remove Krakkas first, plant Broombushes to breed w/ old Almonds
. . to get new Broombush seeds.
Br Alm Br Harvest Almonds to pick up more Sylkis/Mandrake.
Syl Br Syl Plant Sylkis to breed with Broombushes to make Thav.Onions/Shroud Tea.
Syl Syl Sylkis grow faster, so harvest them first then plant Almonds.
Br Syl Br Almonds will breed with Broombushes to make more Broombush seeds.
(Will all Sylkis breed with Brooms? Same question for followup Almonds.)
Alm Br Alm Broombushes should finish growing before Almonds do.
Alm Alm Plant Krakkas in their place.
Br Alm Br
Alm Kr Alm Repeat?
Alm Alm
Kr Alm Kr
It's an interesting idea either way.
Thav Onion + Linseed = linseed + pahsana fruit seeds
I know, but leaving those fully grown plants out there makes me nervous, haha.
In other news, because I planned on doing several rounds of krakka x almond I planted my krakkas with Shroud 3 soil to provide my krakka-starved FC with some chocobo fodder. And then this happened:

No rest for the weary, on to the next round!
Yeah I always just plant Krakka with Shroud soil. You will want a ton anyway since it's the food people need to use to feed others' chocobos and the one you feed your chocobo once they eat enough to get a favored food. It pays off immensely once you get the successful crossbreed.
do i read it right ? 9 seeds from 1 plant ?
