Black Mage Sanctuary - A Guide to DPS

Been a bit since I've checked this. I'm still updating the guide as necessary, but I've been playing bard with my static for speed kills the past two months. I miss BLM.

Everything looks like an upgrade except the bracelet. I don't think you need the bracelet because all of the accuracy gear you use already has SS, and switching Shire hood out for Alex and using Proto bracelet is still a loss.

Would have liked to see these stats sooner, but better late then never I guess.

ok BLMs make up my mind. i was told before that you guys hate having me give you arrow cards, and even more so enhanced arrows. i just got finished trying a clear party and one BLM asks why i didn't give them my enhanced arrow, i told em why and they acted confused. so now i'm all confuzzled and dunno if you guys want it or not lol.

BLMs love arrow. Whoever told you otherwise was lying. We'd still prefer the balance, but the arrow is almost as good. You might be thinking of MNK?

well dang it. i know MNKs hate arrows, i've seen that first-hand. But i usually hear that the extra speed throws off a blm's rotation or something which i guess is true if they're bad and don't pay attention to their mp.

The worst an arrow can do to throw our rotation off is to give us more wiggle room, really. '3'

To be honest,BLM's have to love arrow cads on single target.
On Aoe its a little bit tricky,because of the MP Server Tick,but there is still no reason
to say:nah,i dont want it ^^

Yes and no. If you don't use buff food it is BIS, if you use HQ Flaugnarde it isn't. You don't have enough Crit for the full bonus from HQ Flaugnardes.
BIS with HQ Flaugnarde should be this http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/Z7SV it's 0.154 better.

AoE rotation on dungeon trash, Flare > Transpose > Fire3 > ooooops I didn't get that 2nd MP tick due to arrow. That's the worst thing arrow can do.

You have a lot of additional acc. because of the earrings. Just use the Proto Ultima earrings. (http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/Z3W7) You can just switch out the weapon for the Alex wep.

So I have 920 Crit & 1150(2.20 GCD) SS but in the SSS dummy place I rarely ever crit. Like I'm lucky if I get 2 Fire IV crits the entire 3 minutes & my dps heavily suffers for it.

So I am wondering if I should swap some SS with Crit & what would be a good number of SS if so?

Isn't that the reason why SS is preferred over crit on BLM?

You can have 30% crit chance as BLM but it's not going to amount to much DPS if it all happened during Umbral ice.
With SS you are at least be able to cast faster and thus guaranteed higher dps.

Dunno how I feel about Thunder changes until I see what they are actually doing. Enochian as a passive instead of a active seems to dumb the job down a bit. But we'll see. Can't really make much of a judgement without all the info.

The thunder changes essentially mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. We don't use T2 at all. T1 is only used for the quick apply, then after that its all cloud procs anyways. Turning them all into one spell just gives us more space on our bars for (hopefully) other things. As with the Enochian changes, I agree we can't pass judgement on that to fast. I don't think it will "Dumb" our class down at all though, but it will lessen the gap between awful BLMS and good ones. If it turns out to be something along the lines of "Maintain the old 5% (or insert other % increase) damage buff of Enochian by performing it normally" then to me that is fine. Doing 5% more flat damage than other BLMs who don't keep Enochian up is enough for me.

I for one absolutely despise when mechanics during fights force me rely on my 2.0 rotation as to make sure I'll have FireIV access when I need it most.

So what is the actual new bis nowadays with relic and ultima jewels around? I've seen all kinds of things... Even saw a reddit thead which listed the new bis for all jobs, and the blm one had all ultima jewels equipped.. Can't find the thread anymore though. :(

I keep hearing about thunder changes and have not seen this mentioned in the post someone else had posted, only seen the enochian changes.
Sooo is it actually true they are removing T2 and T3 and rolling in in into thunder?
I seen people on reddit talking about the changes but none have provided an actually fully translated source.
Not sure either how i feel about enochian change, i rather like it how it is even if frustrating at times (lag makes it soo damn annoying, lol)

Bis while i do not have a source i would say is a mix of Augmented Shire Gear, Savage gear and Proto Ultima accesories.
Proto Ring and Proto Earrings are very good.

BiS is Diadem weaps now. i280 from a rare fate in diadem that may not pop. THen if u beat it your weap may not drop. But if it drops the stats may be dumb. But if they're average stats then they will blow your i275 weap out the water because +3 weapon damage. Yes....+3 weapon damage.

Yeah.... SE basically said screw you to all of us who have done our Relics or those who have farmed for Savage Weapons.
Even if the weapons have RNG to it in Diadem, that is how i fell anyhow

WD weighs like 12 each for BLM & 12 INT, so that's 48 total. For the Anima, 140 spell speed weighs 40, 140 crit weighs 35 for about 75 total so no actually the 280 does not outweigh the 275 unless it gets some kind of average secondaries, which it could not if rng is not on your side.

+ 3 Weapon Damage over Relic, despite secondary stats still makes it better then Relic i would think, sadly or at least that has been my impression.
Myself i could care less and will keep Relic

Yeah, it is random and I'm sticking with relic too. No point in the 280 as it just disrespects our time on the anima.

You guys are looking at the weapon from post # 75 in the mutant thread. A couple hours later someone put up a better one - post 80 on the same page. Looking at it just makes me sad since i know ill never get one. I have immensely bad luck with random drops.

Yeah i have not checked afterwords but have now that you mentioned it. Bloody hell what a waste of time we have all done. Like seriously if only reason to add these weapons to Diadem was to get people to actually go there we know issues still exist with Diadem and resources could have been better used elsewhere. (3 jobs instead of the 2 maybe, etc..)
And just could have left Diadem as is for gathering only.

Will healers hate me if I just tank the first optical on a11s? I want to turret my opener.

Use Manaward + ask for pull- adlo if running with sch if u're planing to tank first optical.

With manaward + adlo u most likely'll get 0 damage at all - so no vuln stack for ya too :)
With only manaward up u'll at least take quite a bit less damage

Out of curiosity, does this include a potion/food? When tested on the SSS dummy without a party, I hit around 2420 DPS despite being around the same ilvl with you with the same weapon. I did not use food or a potion however, so I'm wondering if I need to review my rotation/gameplay or if I just parsed low due to not using food and pots. Thanks!

To get a baseline measure or for accuracy purposes i would guess doing tests without food would be the way to go.
If you measure on the lower end you can then revise rotations, etc.. and not rely on food (even if you use it to raid)
