"You pull, you tank" is a bad mentality

As someone who started as a tank, the whole, you pull you tank mentality baffles me. Who cares? The only caveat I will stipulate is that the mobs are bought to the tank once the pulling has ended. That way, if you do have anything, it is easy for the tank to take it back. AKA, don't stand off in Narnia whilst you are being hit, I might not notice.

I dunno about all that stuff about pulling and whatnot.

I do know tank is supposed to "keep the foe's attention". I dunno, I'm not in this discord thing or whatever, all I know is what I read on the Square Enix website before I picked my class in this here video game.

Seems like it's reasonable of me to question why the Tank failed to keep the foe's attention, when healer was healing people as best they could and DPS was damaging the mobs. Everyone else seemed to do their jobs as described just fine, myself included.

Can you show me the part about pulling on the SE site, please?

usually the tank because its more convenient for him to fo his job... which is tanking. but usually does not nean 'has to'

now you can say it would be nice to help the tank doing his job... but wouldnt it also be nice to help the dps doing their job?

I miss the 6-member parties in FFXI, which allowed for a puller role; usually a buffer or debuffer class would do this: BRD, RDM and even TH(ie)F or NIN would be tasked with pulling. Sometimes, in a pinch, WHM could do it in a party with 2 healers.

also i can agree with the rest but nowhere does it say a dps's job is to pull nor does it say its a healers job to pull. show me where it says that please. show me where it even says they are allowed to pull ahead of the tank and bring it back. i am quite curious where in the official documentation it actually says this. it doesn't. again.

its what the community thinks and that is split between the two ways (tanks pull or anyone can pull). However, end of it i think everyone needs to be aware of their party. Be aware of how the party might be doing. is tank stuggling, is healer struggling, is dps low. that in the end will tell you the overall picture and if a tank wants to be the only one to pull then let them. you will still finish your run regardless lol. like i know people going to agrue but end of the day. everyone pays their own sub, theres all skill levels, everyone learns at a different pace. you got the choice to either not queue or just leave the run if you don't like the mentality.

wdym, pull more than 3 mobs, and be forced to press mitigations and other spells, instead of just 1 button aoe spam or 1-2-3 attack single target attack rotation? What next? Watch emnity table?

oh if your talking what this thread is about. just some tank who let a dps tank what they pulled. toxic mentality.

It depends how u find it: if u found it urself - u free to pull, if u followed by other people mark in chat or some asked to wait - its now more tricky

oh the ones who get the strikes are bans are part of a group dedicated to early pulling to ruin it for trains. they got their methods in finding the marks. even some S ranks got hit early as well.
