Make FFXIV more like FFXI and less like WoW!

Your not wrong,we are comparing two games from different eras so it's not a prefect comparison. However you say it takes one maybe two hours? But thats one two hours of constant FATE / GC grinding as opposed to the short time it took you to hand in that item. Most people at that level were levelling in Qufim so would just port back to the city on the hour then get back to it. The point is it's hardly a huge difference in the amount of time spent.

Yeah i know it's a requirement, but being level 20 has nothing to do with your success in getting to Jeuno as i stated.

FFXI is in its free time for the next couple weeks and here is what I see with it and why I wouldn't want them to bring those ideas to FFXIV.

Where the game is now is it has a ilevel cap of 119 its been at the ilvl 119 cap for 3 years and a lot of gear choices based on upgrading gear you got from past pre 119 events as well as some new gear. Now here is the problem there is no duty finder or party finder, end game still revolves around 18 person alliance content. You can shout in jeuno for hours on end and not get a party for any of the content especially the mid range content is next to impossible. Now you can solo the old content due to level increases dynamis, limbus, salvage, abyssea, to get the base pieces of gear but if you want to do some of the newer content to upgrade that gear to 119 you won't find much help There are a lot of fun events they added its just impossible to find players to do those events. People who play the game still have tight knit groups and clicks they do stuff with for the most part and are not willing to help out returning players or anyone outside their click.

All the end game content is focused around 18 person alliance with very specific jobs. Escha, Incursion, Vagary, Sinister Reign. For example I wanted to do Vagary to upgrade my abyssea gear from level 90 to ilvl 119 it was impossible to find anyone after shouting in jeuno for 5 hours. Midcore content such as high level 119 bcnm fights, Skirmish, Delve, or wildskeepers which take less people now you won't find anyone willing to do this content with you and it can't be soloed.

FFXIV has its duty finder and party finder which I greatly like because you can always find people to do content with FFXI is seriously lacking this. It may be really fun to do the new content but you won't be able to find anyone to do it with.

FFXIV lacks challenge. The dev team overdid with nerfing down the whole experience just because some people want to be 1 click heroes and beat the game in few days.
There is no need to transform the game into XI but going to close the path of WoW is something I do not like. Thing is our community has a large part in this. Many people whining about game being too hard and such.

FFXIV game play is actually much more complex. The core of FFXI gameplay revolves around the auto attack to build TP and hitting 1 button to Weaponskill with most classes having a couple cooldowns. FFXI actually does have 1 button rotations. One of the dps in my FC told me he quit playing FFXI due to how simplistic the battle system was and he didn't like the 1 button rotations most jobs had. FFXIV has much harder and complex rotations that make you work to do good dps. If you see my above post the only challenging part of FFXI was finding people to do content with but once you got those people the content isn't hard.

Since when is a dynasty warriors button mash in a 1 2 3 combo complex? Pray tell...

I prefer proccing mobs like you did in abyssea or when you actually had to magic burst things or skillchain things. Thats way more complex than these 1 2 3 patterns.

Remember when i said its more solo than teamplay here is a fine example of the battles you are in charge of your 1 2 3 combos you dont do combo 1 2 and player B does combo 3.

I wouldnt mind some horizontal progression done correctly and here we go again to elimate speculations and the captain obvious replies.
1.0 was rushed so stop blaming Tanaka do your research here before putting on your super hero cape.

This game could use the variety that FFXI has that is facts. Thats one of the things that made FF11 so unique. I liked the idea that i could dualwield as my whitemage and put on gears that gave more defense etc so i could handle mobs in the world. That was the beauty of FFXI. Endless potential to try new things.

FFXIV is pretty you having a drivers license but someone tells you that you can only drive Toyota as a brand and the only variety you have to choose from is still this exact same Toyota car you can't drive a BMW eventhough you have a driverslicense. I'm not sure who i can dumb shit down even more than this lol.

The option should be there it shouldnt limit you its that simple.

Sure that's why we must not turn it exactly like XI. We just need to take some good examples from there and apply them here. XI is just an example. We can't actually turn it like it. Times has changed. I just wish for more open world content. No I don't mean more Fates. We don't have good Open World bosses for example. Not the silly Hunts. I mean real open world bosses with mechanics and difficulty. We don't have Elite mob areas. Areas with hard mobs that you have to go as a party to farm them for materials or smth else. Rewards can be decided by the dev team that's not the issue. We don't have danger in open map. We don't have Castle/Fortress/Base kind of battles in the open. Or ship battles. The game is too heavily based on dungeons.
Even with the dungeons we had some really good ones that were different from the rest and they never tried to make another like it. Like for example The Vault. That dungeon is one example. It's different from the rest because mobs are not stationary. They are more dynamic and more interesting. Bosses have character and they speak. Also mechanics are kinda more challenging. Despite the positive feedback they never tried to make a dungeon like this in 3.X series. Also dungeons are too linear. They could have more corridors or hidden rooms and alternative routes. It feels like they are not putting any effort on dungeons. Some of them are good but they are too predicable. Also lately they become shorter and shorter.

Got into ARR and realized I had to hit Enter for chat now. Jump? Of all things to add, this? You can as easily auto-vault when you reach a fence...

Then realized it's the only fix for auto-face throwing your camera around and back into the AoE you were trying to escape without losing uptime. Now I'm dependent. They got me.

Someone mentioned rotations being simpler than here.It is more simple if you break it down to solo or easy monster encounters. Very complex when you get into parties where mechanics come into play with group synergy and intelligent enemies with weakness and strengths. ANd then things like haste and multi-hit weaponskills come into play as well as 2 hours, 2 hours are limit breaks that were class specific.

Monsters were smart. They had groups. With skillfull play you could either pull one or two to the party or.. blow the pull and pull the whole zone equaling in a wipe in encounters. Each zone had enemies that were stronger than you and if you weren't clever in going around them or avoiding them taking their aggressive tendencies or into account, you could die or get one shotted, depending on the strength.

I am not even mentioning the sub job system. While it could allow you to solo things meant for full groups, it also allowed you to change you role or support role in instances besides the most difficult party content.
