I like the races we have, although I wish Elezen didn't have such weird proportions. Not really a fan of beastly characters personally. Well anyway, maybe you'll get more beastmen glamour one day.

Think about it, though: if FFXIV did go the same route as WoW/GW2 with their races (or made Roegadyn literally FFXI's Galka. It's funny how much a tail can change a race), chances are I wouldn't even be arguing/posting in this thread at all.

THIS would be awesome, specially when Hyur is the only race with real freaking differences between clans/tribes; Different bodies and proportions, different emote animations, and even some voices too. Meanwhile the others...
- Lalafell: Just eyes. (And let's not forget that bodies are the exact same for males and females)
- Miqo'te: Eyes again... ohh yeah, skin color
- Roegadyn: Just skin color
- Elezen: Skin color again
- Au ra: Even as a race added by buying an expansion, just skin color yet again... ahh, right, sticker scales color too

I would really love to see not only another small race, but also one where the freaking skin color is not the only difference between one clan/tribe and the other.

We already have various males ranging from toned to muscular and from medium height to tallest in the game. Why does a male viera with a smaller frame have to be childish? I'm also bearing in mind what we got as the final au ra design was not exactly like any of the concept art so we're still up in the air as far as what any viera will look like in FFXIV.

Bunny-Alphinauds would be cuuuute! I don't think I have the sanity to level another alt but if I could peer-pressure some guildies into playing bunboys, I'd consider it a win XD

Elezen also have different ear clasps. Fran has been one of my fave characters ever since I saw her. I'd prefer the taller version at least with the females and a shorter male just because it would be different. I get that they would have to change the feet so they wouldn't be in high heel pose all the time. A few ideas for the ears is it would be cool if you could get a bent ear or one that had a small chunk missing. Maybe even do something with the ear tufts. If we do get them I hope they get more than four faces and not have the horn bit with the au ra happen with them.

I really hope we get Viera. I've wanted to play one since I first started playing the game. Sorry to my Au Ra girls but I'd fantasia so fast lol. I just wonder how they'd actually handle the feet in game. Like will they go the WoW route with trolls, tauren, and draenei and make it so they don't actually wear shoes or will they give them flat feet? I guess this assumes they are in fact the next race though lol.

Whatever they choose to do or add I just hope they give more customization options. Still slightly upset you can't swap horns and faces with Au Ra.

Hopefully they’ll give an option for a more curvy/thicker female. My wife constantly is disheartened that most races aside from Roe are small in the figure department. Would love more body sliders in general for both genders and all races.

Blue mage should be main focus for next job thy add in 5.0 i see alot of it's spells in game alright plus can can help out group just like bard mch close range spell caster with weapon skills and support spells can be mighty guard healing wind attack buff spells group stoneskin a spell tht buff group reduce physical damage 10% And spell etc tht way it can help out group beastmaster can be tank just like summoner Titan pet tanking so there's ways for both classes also dancer so enix get it done

That would also be great but SE has said they have no plans to add additional face or build types for the existing races. In light of that, bring on the bunnies!

They could just give them flat feet; they don't need to look the exact same as the original Vieras. SE can just make the necesary modifications and, if needed, give them a different name (something which sounds similar to "Viera", so players won't get mad about any physical change)

Surprised SE says that when they making bank off vanity items on mogstation. If looks are bringing a lot of money in how are more unique facial/body options not a thing? Even if it's a mogstation buy.

They should have no problems adding the viera race. The last dungeon boots from it kind of look like the viera's foot wear and princess dress comes with high heeled shoes like there's.

HW came with a fantasia and the Benchmark let you create a au ra and they will probably do the same and its not just about content its about people wanting something different as a race and giving eorzea a bit more variety

I don't think the feet excuse was ever real
especially since everyone in the game already has heels and sandals as default feet to balance them out
And making foot gear fit viera is no different making armor fit au ra when they were out

Did you forget Stormblood already? A new race means lore (content) for that race and potentially quests (content) involving them. It also adds more variety to the world, thus enhancing content all around. Au Ra were behind a paywall; you had to buy the expansion. Don't be a part of the problem by suggesting more stuff for MogStation.

so if the last ivalice raid comes and theres no viera shown you still think it will happen?

really hoping this isn't the case. they specifically changed roegadyn and miqo'te because they wanted to distance themselves from practices like this with XI and 1.0.

Aye, i fear for that aswell. I am a proponent of Viera being added and if the rumors are real the Ronso would be interesting to see, but i hope gender locking them wont be a consideration. Limiting the options that way is a horrible way to introduce races.

Lastly, i feel If we do get Ronso i am of the mind the females will more closely resemble fan art than what was introduced in FFX.

Lore is only one thing out of the list.
If I want to be a Viera then I want to be a Viera, not an Elezen with bunny ears on top. I want unique features, emotes, animations. No imagination is going to help you when the race you're playing is obviously not what you want.

My Viera wishlist:

- Male, and female Viera are the same. No dimorphism like male and female Au Ra.

- Each clan is different like Highlander, and Midlander. One is tall, and the other is the cuter one we’ve been accustomed to in Tactics, and Revanant Wings. That way the cute loving east, and the more serious natured west can be happy. Plus we are overdue for a small race.

- Tall would be called Wood Viera.

- Short would be called Feol Viera.

I agree that having two different clans for Viera that cover the two different directions that they could go, smaller and cuter or taller and fiercer, would be the way to go.
Another potential for Viera subraces/clans are the Veena and Rava; with the Veena being taller (Highlander/Elezen height), with lighter hair and lighter skin (Fran from XII) and the Rava being smaller (Midlander size or a smidge taller) with darker hair and skin.

As for dimorphism, eh no thanks. I would be fine with some slight height difference between male and female, they could even make the female Veena a smidge taller than the male and the male Rava a smidge taller than the female, so you cover both potentials but overall I want the height of the sexes to be very close to basically the same.

Lorewise they could even justify the differences in physicality by saying that the Veena stayed true to the old ways of the Viera, living as protectors of the woods and wilds while the Rava left the old ways behind to move to the cities and integrate with the other races.

More than anything, if they add Viera to the game which I admittedly have warmed to and would now like to see, I want an incarnation that is tall, lean and mean like Fran, she was a fierce badass. The two very different clans would provide the best of both worlds.
