Almost 3 wipes.

The BLM was continuing to use their AOE rotation on Livianne (sp?) in Tam-Tara Hard.

Dzemael Darkhold in roulette, on machinist. Used Blank to knock one of the spirit enemies into the trash pack for better AOE.
Tank: You're the first person I've ever seen doing that, good idea.
Me: I aim to please.
Healer: Points for good idea but you lost it for the pun
Still got a comm for it, though.
Entered a Frontline as MCH and ended up with my GC. We were all working pretty well together which is something I never expect to happen. So a crystal spawns near Mael's base, when we get there the Flames are already at it. They managed to get most of the crystal, but we started to pick them off one by one after. When it was all said and done, there remained a lone RDM standing on the edge of the cliff surrounded by about half my team. So I hit them with a blank and they fell to their death. That ability never gets old in PvP. Ever.
Running duties for tomestones and leveling another job. Got Toto-rak. Had a lovely tank that pulled the boss while the healer and other DPS were still in the cutscene. SMN didn't even come out of the cutscene before we wiped. Walk back in and the MRD dies again because apparently, green toxic poison that looks like radioactive waste must be good to stand in. Let's continue doing that, I guess.
I need a nap.
Any vote kick requires a majority vote from the party. The target doesn't get a vote, and the person who initiates the kick is considered to vote in favor, that leaves two people and both of them have to vote Yes for the kick to succeed. So if your fellow dps voted no, there's no reason to wait for your vote because a majority is impossible.
If I'm understanding this correctly, the party leader initiates a vote to kick. The target player does not get a vote. Presuming said initiator counts as a Yes vote, you just need one of the other two characters to vote Yes.
But this vote was rejected after a few seconds, and I had not cast a vote.
I can only presume that the initiator of that first vote to kick actually ended up casting a No vote for some reason. That's the only explanation that makes sense, and it still seems a little weird to me. But, whatever.
Since the observer knew a vote kick was taking place, then they likely weren't the person on the stand... so my assumption is they DID get a vote, but they pushed a button at just the best possible time and missed the popup.
The fact that the vote went up and down so fast tells me this is likely what happened.
I was running orbonne monastery and it went great except....the other healer (ast) did next to nothing the entire time. He just drew cards and occasionally tossed out an aspected helios. Leaving it to me to do the majority of the work. He wasn't even doing damage, he just stood there drawing cards and reacting to mechanics.
Didn't even do a bubble or any variation of helios during Ultimas transition phase. We almost died because succor don't exactly do it for getting people's health back up. Wouldn't even put a hot on the tank or the low health people.
This is a growing tend with ASTs i feel like. Just there to look cute and draw cards, but not much else.
A reminder to all DPS and Healers in this game: The first rule of not getting hit is to not stand with the Main Tank up front. You will die if you do that. More so if I have been tanking the boss the exact same direction outside of when they turn for their own mechanics.
I can survive, you can't. So adjust :p
Just for the record we turned and ran total straight line opposite of each other. still held. to this day im not sure if it was just bug or bad moment of code for the game. never happened again to me personally after tha
Edit: also to clarify, we had over half the boss room worth of distance to begin with...there was no reason it shouldn't have broken.
Eh...its whatever. weird crap happens frequently to me some days. that was just one of em
Almost wiped 3 times to Mamool Ja Ja, because the healer was too busy attacking and not paying attention to the doom debuff.
I had to physick myself like crazy, and anyone else who got the doom debuff, to clear it myself, as SMN. Let me tell you, my physicks are shit with full casting gear.
And yes, it was a mechanic we explained beforehand.
Qarn hard. Not the worst dungeon for me, but 2nd boss gives me nightmares a bit. There was that one time where I swear, she was counting her 99,999 needle right as we stopped her. The cast bar was so close to finishing. Puckered, I tell you...
ANYWAY...
I queue in as my little bebe WHM. Tank big pulls. This is fine. I wait til they establish aggro, cure1 + regen (usually I just pop regen, but they seem to be taking a lot of damage), holy, and then do what ever else I might have to do - either top them off or start aero doting.
Second big pull. We... we wipe. My benediction doesn't go off on the tank, I don't know why. I apologize, I'm a little flabbergasted. This exchange:
Me: Sorry;;
DPS 1: its ok friend
DPS 2: not ur fault
DPS 1: good ol drk skills
Tank: 0 enmity tank coming through
DPS 2: pls turn on grit for pulls ;_;
Tank: don't have it on my bar
Me: -inner voice- oh god help me
DPS 1: i beg u pls
We almost wipe again but tank living deads and I do get my bene off this time and just am able to manage it better. It's fine, because the DPS are both RDM, so yanno. Things aren't melting - they're exploding into little buttery chunks.
The sabotender queen counter thing can't even get past counting to 25,000. That's just... insane to me.
We get to the final boss and I suddenly notice that DPS 2 is naked.
Not glamoured with the emperor's new set.
This DPS has taken off ALL HIS ARMOR. Not his accessories, just.
Just his armor.
Me: -inner voice- JESUS PLEASE TAKE THE WHEEL.
I just - guys, my brain shuts down again. I IMMEDIATELY get 4 stacks (I SWEAR, I AM GOOD AT THIS GAME...) and get mummified. Tank pops living dead as I'm running around, I come out of it just in time to bene, and raise the dead naked DPS, because of course he got chewed on and died immediately.
Then Jesus took the wheel and I blacked out. Honestly, I did. When I came back, we had finished it and everyone was fine, upright. I must have healed them fine. Walked out of there with 2 comms and most of the loot. -shrug emoji-
On the one hand, it was actually kind of hilarious and fun. On the other, PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS. Please just don't. If you want to have fun in instances, I'm all for it, but DON'T do it to randoms in DF/PF, ESPECIALLY random tanks or healers. They may be new and your shenanigans may give them anxiety.
Edit:
guys.
guys i can't.
i am physically. unable to even.
wanderer's palace, hard.
we wipe on first boss because our dps is so low. it shouldn't be so low... not with two SMNs... maybe... the gear...?
...one summoner... is... he has 45 gloves... and other bits and bobs that just... aren't... good...
it's... fine... we... push ahead... second boss goes... ehn.. okay...
ja ja... i tried. guys. i tried. i think we fought him for 10 minutes before it just got to be too much for my mp... i had no more cds... i had nothing guys... so we wiped and my mind just went... blank... because i tried so hard...
...second attempt we got him but guys.
i am broken...
Keeper of the Lake for 50/60.
Healer goes "NO <Sword Oath>". Even during Bosses. I was PLD.
Was VERY tempted to say "<Regen><Please use it>", but hey I don't pay his sub. If he wants to stand there and cast Stone and Cure II all day, be my guest. He had full ilvl 400 gear except for Anima weapon.
Died twice to boss and twice to single pull mobs. Nope'd right out of there. Sorry DPS, you wouldn't AOE either, so have fun.
I feel like I need to reach through the screen and slap people.
Levelling up my BLM and do MSQ and got Castrum. Everything goes great until Livia in the Magitek Armour.
The DRG decided to call out the SCH for "standing in the corner" and "the fight wouldve gone faster of they did anything other than nothing".
Where was the SCH standing, you might ask?
Next to the missile loader.
Loading the missiles. Which I was shooting at Livia.
You know... Doing the basic mechanic of that fight.
After Livia died in the final fight, I ended up saying "Nice work to call out someone who was at least trying to do mechanics" and left. I have zero patience left for people who criticise others for actually playing the game correctly.
Because of this, my blacklist has almost tripled since the moogle event began.
just had a DF party on bardham dungeon. good gawd the healer... i swear the healer is probably controlled by someone else who never play FF14 (or even play mmorpg at all)
he just keep healing everyone with cure 1 or cure 2 thats it. no aoe heal, no regen, no ogcd nothing, even when all of us drop below 50% he just keep cure 1 or 2 until his mp out. we told him to use regen and the aoe (medica since whm) and the guy just casually said "i dont see any on the panels), at this time all of us especially the dps just went extra careful with red circle so healer can just focus on tank.
and worse part is he move and look around without mouse and still on default control, so its wasd as in forward backward rotate left and right (i set my A and D as strafe not rotate). at first i though he was lagging, but after a while i noticed his movement is weird like... RE tank control, so he move and when he need to turn, he slowly "rotate" to that path then start moving and when he need to run back, instead of the usual instantly turn back and run, he just move backward slowly while still looking forward because the target lockon (i think certain control type on char config can do this, i forgot) when we ask him again he said that he's not used with this control and his mouse is glue on skill panels (so he is pure clicking instead of using hotkeys)
you can imagine everyone frustration. when everything is over, everyone just leave not saying anything, cant fault them since it took us a little over an hour to finally finish the dungeon.
iam surprised none of us try to kick him though
Aery. Got a French Bard.
No DoTs despite requests in chat.
All songs blown at once despite an explanation in chat (autotranslate (song name) - 30 (second) - (song name) - 30 (second) etc).
Quick Nock and Rain of Death in single target.
LB on pop on bosses (we had a Ninja too).
No Refresh.
No dodging of attacks or any attempt to do any mechanics whatsoever.
No killing the Sable Prices in the last boss (the Ninja burned the one imprisoning me no problem, when the Ninja was trapped the DRK came over to help me, apparently noticing the Bard not being helpful).
The NIN and DRK were at least competent so the run didn't take forever...
sigh
Had an interesting mentor roulette today.
Que up, go in and it's the Aery. Not a fan of that dungeon but oh well. First pull I grab the first two dragons (I'm on PLD) and run to the wall grabbing the other 3 mobs. Everything seems to be going fine, dps seems about right as mobs are dying at a steady pace. Then it happens. My hp steadily falls to 50% and keeps going down, down more, down even further until I'm at 10% at which I'm like okay where are the heals. Then i die right before the last 2 mobs die. The healer is a sprout so I give the benefit of the doubt.
Next wall pull almost the same thing except this time when I start noticing lack of heals I pop HG to avoid dying and having to run back again. Pull the first boss and this healer (WHM) is STRUGGLING bad. And I mean BAD. Spamming cure 2s and medica, going oom, not dpsing (not the biggest deal but w.e). Yet we manage to down the boss. I inspect the WHM after the boss dies and his gear is mostly level appropriate but I shit you not this guy was using a lv42 wand and shield for weapons.
I advised him to invest in a staff because that's why hes struggling so bad (his cure 2s would heal for maybe 5% of my hp) and hes cool about it and says thanks. But JEEZE man. Hall of the Novice needs to do a better job at informing new players or wand/shield needs to be removed from the game entirely for WHM since it's just old useless garbo from 1.0-2.0 that was just simply never removed.
We still cleared the dungeon in good speed because I wasn't about to not do wall to wall pulls. And the fact that he was able to keep up for the most part tells me that the guy will at least be a decent healer once he gets his hands on an appropriate weapon. Just sucks no staff dropped at all in the run for him, it could have changed his life lol.
First time in Kugame Ohashi just now, and the same for some others.
We wiped.
A lot.
Then tried one last time with 13 minutes.
And beat it.
Thank you to everyone for the patience and the effort. It's always great to turn things around with effort and focus rather than devolving into a blamefest.
Just got out of trials roulette. Castrum Fluminis. Party in progress. 45 minutes in. None of the original party members appeared to be there - we were all fill-ins. 14 minutes were left. We beat her with 5 minutes left to spare.
Just...how? HOW?
Oh well.
Last night I ran Hullbreaker Isle as WHM with a friend and it was their first time running it. I got queued up with a tank and another dps that seemed new to the dungeon as well. I check the tank and he was geared to the teeth (mostly melded Augmented Scaevan's, and Yama's). He got caught on the first bear trap. "That's cute", I thought, and then we proceeded to start the dungeon. I don't understand how this went.
- does not get the ranged mobs aggro, usually on me since I'm healing.
- will flash exactly once, and often not at the start of a pull. I didn't even see Circle of Scorn.
- will not use defensive CD's. I think I only saw Rampart about 2-3 times.
- used Hallowed Ground on the boss when nothing was happening.
Yes, he probably boosted. However, he's level 70. So he at least went through the dungeons to level from 60-70. It was his only 60+ job. I don't understand how he got that far unless he got carried hard. Maybe even somebody else is playing.
My post on the last page was after running that very trial. For sure in that xpac lull. Only three weeks left atleast.
That said your case was probably whatever the original group was probably went through vote abandons that failed, people started dropping which led to others dropping but people also started filling before the whole group left. Eventually ending with a whole new group. Atleast ment you are only left to wonder what happened instead of living it.
After tanking Bardam's for the first time, I now see what people mean when they refer to it as a turning point in gear. Any time I didn't have a cooldown up, I could almost physically feel my character's pain. But we got through it with no wipes or deaths.
Needless to say, I went out and spent a grand amount on removing anything whose name begins with "Augmented Shire".
Something that made me laugh and almost cry recently.
I was playing Scholar in Seiryu EX. My Deployment Tactics and Rescue are right next to each other.
I managed to land a critical Adloquim on the MT when Seiryu was casting first part of Cursekeeper on the OT.
I clicked Rescue instead of Deployment Tactics... thankfully the MT was quick and sprinted away from us before the buster hits.
Needless to say I swapped the positions for Rescue with something else. -wipes sweat- I could have single handedly wiped the DF.
I honestly thought it was a myth, an urban legend - until today.
Running the Sycrus grind as AST (to at least give me something engaging to do) I had another AST co-healer.
He overwrote aoe Balance with aoe Spear then aoe Bole. Not once. Twice.
I hope I was being trolled. Really I do. Not that it matters in the long run - but you have to question how people can do 70 levels of any character have no grasp of the basics.
I've seen this quite a few times with two AST. But then again, I guess that's not so uncommon in large Ally-Raids to overlook a buff when there are a lot of buffs active, while you are doing your stuff. And if there are too many buffs, it may not even been visual as the displayed buffs in the group list are limited.
I did this on Shinryu EX yesterday. For me, it's Surecast and Rescue next to each other, and I was hitting Surecast for Tidal Wave as my WAR tank ran past. Instead, I accidentally Rescued him backwards, and nearly off the edge of the platform as the Tidal Wave hit (I'd fumbled into my Surecast at the same time, thankfully). WAR didn't fall off, but immediately after I'm just "OMG I'M SORRY. D:"
Queued up for Longstop as I was lvling BLM. Queue finally pops and we load in. Party comp was GLA, LNC, AST, and BLM (me).
Yes, GLA and LNC. In a lvl 32 dungeon. The second I see those icons and check both the tank's gear and the lancer's gear I knew the entire dungeon run was going to be a train wreck. To sum things up:
GLA spammed Rage of Halone and would occasionally use Flash, but since it was not used often I had to cast Sleep the second mobs would beeline for the healer...A LOT.
LNC couldn't do much as they were missing their job stone, so part of their kit was not available.
Since the tank was undergeared for the dungeon (lvl 1-25 mix of DoW and tank equipment with a 28 aetherial sword) their max hp just about topped mine...as a blm.
First and second boss fights I had to sleep adds often otherwise the healer and the lancer would end up eating the floor, as the tank really didn't have much situational awareness at all (keep this in mind). The LNC wasn't exactly much better at eating hits, but I will give them much-deserved credit for trying.
Third boss didn't seem to be that much of an issue as it was just simply a dps race, though the second Aiatar came down and used Dragon Breath, I saw both the GLA and LNC stand in the line aoe...and not move. About 75% of their hp was immediately nuked before Aiatar fled.
The rest of the ride up consisted of more Sleep and the tank still not paying much attention to things at all. Finally we get up to the boss room and the healer points out in party chat to pull the boss out of the green puddles.
Remember when I said the tank had no situational awareness? It really, REALLY showed here.
The second Aiatar starts dropping Toxic Vomits in the arena, the tank does not bother to move the boss. The second Aiatar uses Dragon Breath, the tank does not attempt to move out of the way. Even after using Lucid and popping Ewers on herself, the healer just could not keep up healing the tank, and eventually the tank bit it from just not moving out of the bad. However when the tank went down, guess who had second highest aggro? Me. My immediate reaction was screaming like Mario and my discord friends asking me what the hell was happening.
Queue me running around attempting to kite the boss and cast what I could, however the dots and attempts to resurrect the tank did not go well. I was able to use Manaward 4 times during the first attempt on the last boss before I died and we wiped. Our return back to the boss room we reminded the tank to draw the boss away from the pools, and what does he do?
Just sits there and lets the boss heal in said pools. At this point the healer gets frustrated and asks the tank if they've learned nothing. Yes, they've learned absolutely nothing, my dear healer. Once the tank dies I kite again and do my best, and after riding manaward another 4 times we finally manage to down the boss. Healer never bothered to raise the tank after he died, and more than likely realized just how useless the tank was. I thank both the healer and the lancer for the party and leave, and ended up with three comms.
Shoutout to the lancer and astrologian from Exodus, you two were awesome!
The dragon in brayflox is the ultimate noob killer.
The Chimera and the Cyclops are close second. You know people will die there.
