And yet, this is some of the good these potions can do. This all seems to be glossed over because of peoples pride. Everyone is so caught up in the little things that really don't freaking matter, that they'd rather we don't have a potion because of the small inconveniences with problems in Duty Finder and people not knowing how or what to do. Is People's pride really worth not having something that could potenially very beneficial to this games lifespan and well being? You all need to look at this from a different angle and stop being so scared of a little change, and lets get behind something that can actually help the game you love. People like I quoted will bring in new blood, and we can only become a bigger stronger community. Yeah SE is in it for the money, but they need the money, they run a buisness, they can't just give this stuff away for free and let the game go into a decline because you guys are against being able to get to the newer content quicker. The worst part about this whole thread is that the words have been so spun around, I wonder if people have ACTUALLY READ what was wrote by Yoshi-P...Quote:

I will definitely be on board with the idea of the Jump Potion. It does help newer players get into the game if they choose to spend the money on it. However I feel like, if the aforementioned Intermediate Hall would become official, I would like that to be a potential requirement. If the Intermediate Hall is done well, it can make sure people understand how their job works to better avoid the Skill Gap you mentioned before.

But you still have to go through 2.1-2.5 and all of that before you can even step foot into Ishgard. And if Stormblood is also a linear continuation of the story like Heavensward was, which it appears to be, then this problem will only become worse as the list of quests to do becomes longer. Basically, the story jump potion is going to become mandatory at some point, which is why I am against it. Especially if new players have to pay for it. Instead of fixing the real problem, SE decided to nickel and dime their players to death.Quote:

As stated these 'Jump Potions' were added already to keep FFXIV relative in a highly competitive gaming community for Chinese and Korean players. While this may be answer for their demographic, where doing anything to get ahead or have an advantage over another is done, regardless of its ethical standing to the rest of the world. It should also be noted Chinese players have a limited availability window to play, which is way subscription based games that grant unlimited access are very much subsidized in China and may very well exist in Korea as well.
The NA and EU population tend to not be as competitive as we do not use our in-game standings as validation for our existence as we do not live in countries with oppressive governments. In general our fun is the social aspect, working towards a goal as a group/team and then once obtained we enjoy the 'high' granted by accomplishment.

If they implement the potion, I would like a system where they would have to learn more about their class before they can do any dungeon. Like an expanded Hall of the Novice. WoW has a system where you have to beat specific challenge on a certain level before you even can que up for certain dungeons. I'd like to see something like this required for people using jump potions.

Its 100 MSQ after 2.0 before you can start on 3.0.
Currently, there are 35 MSQ after Heavensward, the final 3.00 quest. That number will go up, given that we have 3.50 and 3.55 coming. Fortunately, its a far cry from the 100, but its still more'n a few.
I don't think its really good from a continuity standpoint, but IMO they should start tying expansions in to the story at the end of the x.00, not the end of the x.50 or x.55. I don't think anyone has a real problem going through ARR 2.0 content. Based on the NN, people don't really like the 100 MSQ after Praetorium before setting foot in Ishgard. I doubt that people will appreciate having to complete 3.05-3.55 content to go from HW into SB any more than they liked the 100 MSQ. It does not make much sense story-wise to do that for 2.0->3.0 at this late date, nor does it really make much sense for 3.0->4.0 ... but IMO its what needs to be done, not this jump potion stupidity. -

Let me say that again. This sort of service means that the GAME IS FAILING. Its already reached its peak and failed big time, and the producers are grasping at whatever straws they can find to restore the user base to something near its peak.
And does no one on SE's staff find this scenario suboptimal? "Let me buy a game, then buy this item for use within the game that lets me not have to play through most of the game." .. What was the use of writing the skipped over sections of the game then?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Just remove all of the skipped content, and see what kind of game you've got, because that's what you are planning on charging people extra money for. -
