Okay, I have another question. Any tips on how to go from Lotus pink to Snow white? (Asking for my husband, definitely not changing my own chocobo.) I'm pretty sure I seen someone post it at one point but I can't find the post anymore. Any help is appreciated.

Soot Black

Yay Soot Black. Started with 5 apples, 5 pears, 5 berries. Got Millioncorn Yellow 226/152/46 but wanted Soot black which is 37/35/30, so started bringing up the blue. Goal was to even the numbers, so I brought up the blue until about even with green, Then brought red down until the numbers were close.

Went from millioncorn yellow> ui brown> shale brown> goobbue grey 130/128/125,goal! Then equal amounts of apples, pears, and berries. Went Goobbue Grey> Slate grey> Loam brown 56/45/35. Fed one more apple, pear, and berry which dropped all numbers by about 5 points each, which I figured would be about 51/40/30. Then one more berry to bring blue up by 5 and red/green down by 5. Resulting in about 49/35/35. I figured each fruit to be about 5 points on average, based on that I think that each fruit is worth 3 to 6.

THIS! I've fed my chocobo over 100 fruit with no color change procs occurring :( About 70 of those were attempts at darkening it from the dark blue I already have. Since those attempts, I've been trying to lighten it instead, in the case that maybe I did hit the very bottom of whatever scale this system uses. No luck with the 40+ lightening fruit I used either.

Is there some kind of a cool down perhaps? I haven't had a proc for color change in over a full 24 hours.

From what I was reading a few pages back, some people get stuck in a loop with that color and another (Royal Blue).
You might need to either Lighten some of the Blue and then take it in a different direction, or try darkening Green just a little (Maybe just 1 proc) to see if it steers you in a different direction of the wheel (Hopefully towards Ink Blue, which is closer to Soot Black).
IMO, though... I'd rather you take advice from someone who has broken that loop, before taking my advice.

Update: I went from Ink Blue to Deepwood Green after feeding:

2x Plum (2 messages)
2x Pineapple (2 messages)
1 Valfruit (1 message)

I am still desperately trying to get to Grape Purple could someone PLEASE give me the formula because I read other people's things and really just confuse myself more.

I've gone through over like 10 colors and a lot of hours trying to inch my way to my color of choice.

I'm pretty new to this thing. How much fruit would I need and how would I go about feeding to get a desert yellow chocobo to kobold brown? I tried looking at the spreadsheets but I don't really see all the much information on how to achieve this color in one go. Would one of you chocobo dyeing guros be willing to help a novice out?

Just a quick update.

Cactuar Green -> fed berries until new feathers
Torquoise Green -> fed 1 pear with new feather message

Keep in mind I went back to Cactuar green from torquoise green by using an apple until I got the feather message.

Waiting to see the results.

Starting Colour: Deepwood Green
25R 36G 28B

Desired Colour: Grape Purple
52R 36G 54B

You could give this combo a try:

x5 Valfruit
x2 Pineapple
x2 Plum

This combo should result in an RGB of around 50R 31G 53B (assuming +/-5 average integer and using the original RGB spreadsheet) and should push you into the dark purple range; it might take some additional tweaking to hit Grape Purple. Remember your mileage may vary.

P.S: There's really not an exact formula for the colours.
P.P.S: It's late here and I'm hoping my napkin math isn't off. Don't hate me if you don't get exactly Grape Purple.

The above is the number of fruits to feed and not specifically the feather messages. By feeding the above you should see at least 1 if not multiple feather messages.

yeah man i saw your freaking post hopefully i get back to that color(hunter green) and try your combo feeds but for now what can you or anyone recommend for a Morbol Green Base color to get soot black or anydeeper hue :D

Hiii, I'm trying for rolanberry red (saw few posts back, so when i get home I need to add 12 more of the dark blue ones ._.) - i first got aldgoat brown, then sunset orange (i have no screenshots yet) - and also i'm studying all the colors so i can advise my fc members which stuff to plant, when they decide on coloring the chocobo

I'm also trying to understand if its possible to go directly to sooth black (for a friend) or should he first pass over to abyssal blue , or some of those dark colors?

I made the mistake of feeding my chocobo 1 pineapple then 2 valfruit from Deepwood Green. Do you think I will still have a chance to get soot black if all feedings indicated new feather growth? I would have just went with 1 valfruit but made the mistake of listening to another post.

Shouldn't you be able to yank your bird out of the stable if you gave it incorrect food? Then just give it the single fruit you meant to.

I've only seen Honey Yellow, and Cream Yellow, but I'd say Honey Yellow from those at least. Image from google. Millioncorn Yellow might be more golden?

Coeurl Yellow seems like a really deep shade of goldenrod, almost like a dark mustard color.
Honey Yellow is brighter, and Millioncorn Yellow is a bit more of an orange shade.
Every other shade of yellow is either really pale or a tan shade.

All of the pics are artist renditions, but they're pretty spot on from what I've seen in game.

in case you don't get Soot Black from the Valfruit method, try this as it worked for me.

I'm guessing you haven't received your results then, right?

If possible, reset your timer and add the Valfruit if you're still at Deepwood Green.

Soot Black Chocobo Path (Data Log Entries)

Finally got my Soot Black chocobo earlier. Would have posted sooner, but it was technically during coil time when I had a slight window to check the stable, so I had to wait until now.

Below I will post all of my data and some screenshots. I don't know if any of this will help, but I figured this shouldn't go to waste after all my hard work. The ONLY step I am missing is the jump from Desert Yellow -> Milioncorn Yellow, (which was x5 Berries // x5 Apples // x5 Pears) but I posted how I got there earlier when this thread was still young. Anyway, here's my log. See what you can salvage from it. This is all entries from the day patch 2.38 went live, to present day. So the earlier entries are pretty primitive in how I went about it. Sorry in advance for the massive amount of space taken up, but this needs to be seen in full for people stuck or struggling.

Well,gold color has a lot of shade but i prefer a bit dark gold so i think the option here is only Coeurl Yellow or Halatali Yellow.
But Halatali Yellow looks too much dark for yellow and really get close to brown so i think Coeurl Yellow might be the one.
And for the bright Gold i think its Honey Yellow.

I finally got black as well! Here's the path I took. All numbers indicate the amount of feather messages I got.

Original (didn't record the amount, but it was a lot of apples) -> Pumpkin Orange, then fed 11 berries and 11 pears
> Acorn Brown, then fed 14 berries, 1 plum, 2 pears
> Abyssal Blue, then fed 7 apples, 7 pears, 1 pineapple
> Chestnut Brown, then fed 2 pears and 5 beries
> Ink Blue, then fed 1 apple and 1 pineapple
> Kobold Brown, then fed 1 plum
> Ink Blue, then fed 1 plum
> Deepwood Green, then fed 1 valfruit
> Ink Blue, then fed 1 pineapple
> Deepwood Green, then fed 1 valfruit
> Ink Blue, then fed 1 pineapple
> Deepwood Green, then fed 2 pineapples, 2 valfruit, and 1 plum
> Soot Black!
