Isn't the stuff on tp and mp usage, and EXP chain new? (I know its small compared to the rest of the post). Furthermore he isn't done translating it, it looks like.

thats their own problem.
some times you need to take a step back and think "how much of this is already understood and known and how dire is it to repeat or go into detail about things that arent happening for over a year versus whats coming out next month.."
its called editing.
The translation read that he would be reviewing changes that were done last weekend, and would make some more adjustments on top of that. This should have been done yesterday or the day before.
After that, he said it would be translated and posted. So... I guess they're still translating?
So what is this post and why is it important....? Confused, thought maybe he was rolling out class changes. Last I checked, Final Fantasy was about Paladins and Black Mages, not Botanists. Don't get me wrong, I like the Gatherers/Crafting every now and again, but I really don't care about them given the other massive changes needed. Oh well...
Also, I'm willing to bet gil and a cheese sandwich that they're holding off on the actual class post until they've got the English translation ready, because as wonderful as Reinheart is we all know there are people who would happily fly off the handle based on an ambiguous unofficial translation. >_>
wow people, this post is to address to the jpn's thread about DoL/H, not the letter you have been waiting for. READ before you comment!
He actually mentioned the reason for that. He wants to overhaul the remaining 2 crafter classes and food first before he overhauls all the gathering stuff. Furthermore lots of the changes can't be implemented till 2.0 because of the server change and the current server not sufficient enough to make the changes. He is giving people an update to make people feel its not forgotten, but also tell people where it is exactly on the totem poll of things to do. He is speaking more to the Japanese audience then to us as this has been a big issue on those boards. Think you guys are just getting impatient because you wanted to see the combat overhaul update today lol.
No significance to you, maybe. (I recognise that the subset of players who don't need convincing to play and pay until 2.0 might be small, also that the subset of NA players who actually want to know Yoshida's reasoning behind changing certain core concepts of the game might also be small, but I fall into both of them, and I've gotten a lot out of this post, even if I find myself thinking 'man, I hope this didn't delay the class adjustments post'. 2.0 is the game I'm eventually going to be playing, the game this game is eventually going to be, so any information about 2.0 is welcome to me.)
Last I checked, Final Fantasy was made for Japanese and Western demographics.
This is a big deal for JP's, and our primary concerns that aren't retarded were already answered in the LIVE letter. Gatherer info was, according to JP's, not enough to appease them.
I'm sorry that you don't give a damn, but 150 likes at 4~7am JST tell you that to some people this is a big deal.
This post is supposed to be about the future of gathering and why Yoshida has seen fit to disregard it as having any importance(fromt he jp point of view that I happen to agree with). This is an MMO as much as it is a Final Fantasy, you cannot get a large number of people hooked on one aspect of the game and then tell them they are not worth acknowledging.
Indeed, but he should just say listen up bitches im the Producer deal with it !
Go make your own game.
This appears to have wasted a lot of his time on something we already knew about, is a little disheartening especially when we have more important things he could be talking about namely 1.20-1.21 content and changes.
Definately, last thing they need is people to get the wrong idea.Quote:

I thought 2.0 was scheduled for next September.Quote:
But what people don't seem to realize is 2.0 is TWO years away.
It's for anyone that thinks Gathering is important. It's too bad that Western playerbase couldn't care less.
Once again belittling anyone's opinion that isn't yours.Quote:

In a theoretical world where we got a post from Yoshida saying, for example, "suck it up, NA players, UI modifications aren't important to us anymore, I'm the producer, deal with it" (juuuust an example, I don't want this to derail into a discussion of UI mods, I just couldn't think of anything in specific the NA community is interested in that the JP community is not as interested in)... I think we'd see millions of angry forum threads complaining about it and it'd do a lot of damage to a game that needs as much good PR as possible.
Not a plausible solution!
Why do I need to....
"Western playerbase" is a generalization. I don't mean to say that every single individual in this large hive mind acts and thinks the exact same way. Only the general population.
And it's still clear that JPs are getting little out of gathering until 2.0, so what if we let them have this gigantic post about explaining something they like to do while we are still getting the actual patches and content related to something we find more important (combat)?
Jinko seems to think that anything gathering related is a waste of time when there's "better things to do". So as well as the development focusing solely on combat and perhaps economy, Yoshida can't come out and even talk about anything else without us starting to bitch about misplaced effort.
The issue comes as the game was pretty much promoted as a product where you could play as any discipline and enjoy all the game has to offer to an extent. As things stand now hand/land are getting left behind while the fighting classes have more content they can sink their teeth into. If you were a person who bought the game and see how things have been progressing you would feel cheated in seeing that they lied about what they said their game would offer.
What I realllly disagree with is why does everything have to be a grand quest or journey, granted he did mention it in his story about other quest to add to lore and such or may have ties into the storyline, but Final Fantasy isn't just about the big picture, but also the little things that lead to that big picture.
Heck FF6 you're just a simple Rebel group attempting to overthrow an empire and it then turns into saving the world from a psychotic clown but during that journey lots of crud happens that adds to the story and even then you do have the option at one point to see certain parts of the plot.
I do have faith yoshida knows what he's doing, the changes do sound promising and I"m very grateful that he seems adamant about not giving land/hand any battle abilities since it would defeat the purpose of them.
I do think though that he just isn't thinking about the disciplines working together in dungeons properly. The balance for dungeons that use multiple disciplines is quite simple. It comes down to the player determining what ratio they want to send off into the dungeon, can they have 4 fighters and 4 land/hand to help unlock areas, or do they need more firepower. For me the balance is a simple thought of risk/reward, are you willing to have less battle ready fighters by your side or would you rather play it safe and lower the chances of obtaining what you are seeking.
The other thing I don't think he considers is why not create a unique "party" setup where the full party setup can be 8 players and up to 4 "guest characters". In Final Fantasy there have been times when you would have a guest character that could help in the fight or may just offer their knowledge to help you in a situation, in return you have to keep them safe where one challenge of the dungeon could be to keep them out of danger. But ya, there's just a lot of different ways to go about it, the rare materials do sound interesting as does the TP/MP concept, though I hope they at least consider implementing some sort of merit system so that those at 50 can at least obtain an edge over newcomers who will apparently have a more "fun" experience leveling land/hand in 2.0 while those who continue to pay and play will have to deal with the way it is now, which honestly just doesn't sound fair lol.
Please refrain from directly insulting people and inflammatory comments in this thread. It's been running for a long time now and it'd be a shame for a mod to shut it down.
There's this persistent feeling that this post was released "instead of" the class post we're all waiting for, or that time was wasted on it.
I don't think this feeling has any basis in reality and it'd probably be good if everyone calmed down a little bit.
I really just wish Yoshida would come to terms with the fact that people just want something right now. Not full overhaul before 2.0. The majority of Gatherers would be , at least temporarily, satisfied with some stupid mechanic comparable to Caravan Escorts but in a gathering environment. Just ONE thing to take their mind off the grind every once and a while. For some reason he seems to think gatherers only care about making gil..
You shouldn't even say that, because the truth is you have no clue what the 'general population' thinks about DoL. I certainly know lots of western players who do DoL; and more importantly, if it were improved in various ways, many more would be interested.
The rest of your stuff I agree with tho!
dang so many responses on this thread lol, should of started a new thread for gatherers before I started the translation....
rough version is done, people are checking grammar and fixing up what I wrote...really really thank you guys :)
This YoshiP's post was response to JP thread talking about Gatherers mainly since nothing has been really mentioned and there are players who only do gathering in this game and they really wanted to know what the hell is going on. So this was a long response from YoshiP for them.
As for the battle class change info it supposed to be up this week I think, might go on till next week but we should see that one soon also, that one YoshiP said it's being translated so official translation should come out same timing as the JP one.
Hi Reinheart,
Thank you! again for your tireless efforts to finish translating the latest Yoshida Compendium. ;)
It was a good post to address those dedicated Gatherers who wanted more information.
In the end, I agree with Yoshida-san's decision, just as he formally let people know that FF XIV is no longer focused on Guildleves, so it is that Gatherers will unfortunately have to level a Battle Class to progress for the main Storyline.
I *do* like the new information he talked about, such as having Gatherers find custom materials for customizing your Housing / Estates, and being able to grow your own Garden of stuff like Gysahl Greens and raising your own Baby Chocobos.
Having Gatherers and Crafters come together to craft your own Airships sounds pretty sweet as well! :)
So there are some promising things in the future for DoL / DoH, but of course it's a bit of a ways off from now.
Thanks again Reinheart.
now what the hell is 不可侵 ... looked up since it's not something I usually see/read
Looked it up online and it shows the following.
不可侵 fukashin
読み方:ふかしん
(名詞) inviolability; sacredness; nonaggression
He apologized. I accept it. I've also revised my hopes for the game.Quote:

The workshop under the housing sounds interesting. Does this mean that crafters no longer have to go to the guild for support?
@Reinhart: Perhaps the word is "Exclusivity"
inviolable- to be kept scared - that must not or cannot be transgressed.
